Wrestling/Fighting Style:
Cage is for all intents and purposes a brawler. He has very solid collegiate style wrestling, strong and efficient technique with little wasted movement or energy. When he wants to keep you down, you stay down. He also has very heavy hands, and is prone to throw closed fists to the head and bodies of his opponent like an MMA/boxer whenever he knows that he can get away with it. He avoids the top rope, and his age/physique prevent him from anything too dependent on speed, agility or athleticism. He has deceptive power for his size and is able to lift taller and heavier opponents for a variety of suplexes and slams, but his arsenal on his feet is mostly limited to that. He's not the type to throw drop kicks or sunset flips. Submission wise, he's very good at jiu jitsu, so will attempt mostly moves that you'd see in MMA or by MMA-inspired wrestlers like Undertaker or CM Punk, and will defend them well. Professional Wrestling submissions, however, are foreign to him. He won't know how to properly escape something like the Sharpshooter, or the STFU and will obviously lose a few matches because of it. He is very well known for using his smothering wrestling to force pinfalls. When someone kicks out, rather than sit up or give up on the pin, he'll keep his torso pressed against his opponent, shifting his weight to whichever shoulder or hip got off the mat, eventually covering all points of escape and securing the three count, or wearing his opponent down until they lose the energy to resist, securing the victory.
Favorite Moves:
- Spear
- Bull Dog
- Muay Thai Clinch, followed by knees to the head or body
- Basic DDT's
- Basic Suplex'es
- Basic Takedowns/slams (Proportionally to the size of him and his opponents, of course. When match writing, it's safe to say that Jason Cage can't slam anyone that Shawn Michaels couldn't. Better yet, if you watch UFC, that Dan Henderson couldn't.)
- Rear Naked Choke
- Guillotine Submission
- Kimura
- Arm Triangle
- Arm Bar
- Knee Bar
- Ankle/calf based twists or hooks
Entrance Theme: "Don't Fear the Reaper", Blue Oyster Cult
Detailed Entrance description:
The arena lights dim to black, a dark blue hue filling the arena as smoke pools on the floor of the stage and entrance ramp. The distinct and recognizable guitar intro of "Don't Fear the Reaper" begins to spill from the loudspeakers, and slowly the curtain atop the stage parts and reveals "The Animal"... Jason Cage.
"All our times have come. Here but now they're gone."
Cage steps out into the fog, his face focused and expressionless as he tunes out the crowd around him and their reactions. He bounces a few times in anticipation and begins to march down to the ring, rolling his shoulders and working out the kinks the entire way.
"Seasons don't fear the reaper. Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain. We can be like they are. Come on baby. Don't fear the Reaper. Baby take my hand... don't fear the reaper!"
Cage reaches the ring steps, pausing as he crouches down and mutters to himself inaudibly. He looks up above his head and jumps to his feet, storming up the steps and bursting through the ropes and onto the canvas. He jogs a few slow circles as the fog begins to clear on the ramp, and the lights return slowly to full. The Animal retreats to his corner, and the music fades out slowly.
Bio: Jason Cage is a 41 year old fighter thats been wrestling since he was 17. He's bounced up and down from the regional circuits to a few International touring companies, but he never found sustained success, and thusly never managed to stay at the top long enough to build a legacy. He never struck it rich, and he never dd the things people predicted that he would. He's considered a could-have-been that's now washed up, and way past his prime. However, in the past two years he's worked his way up one last time with the dedicated vision that this was his final push to win the one thing he never got a shot at; a legitmate World title. He's won dozens of low card titles, or major titles of shitty companies, but WGWF is his last chance to leave something people remember him for...
He's a California-Redneck, living in a poor section of a poor city; Stockton. He's in a ghetto that's built on a desert, and is a very hardened and calloused because of it. Kind of slow, but in an innocent and endearing way, kind of racist, but again, in a oddly innocent and endearing way, and kind of "farm boy that's not used to the big city" when it comes to promos, interviews, press, etc. He's just a blue collar guy chasing a dream and getting hit in the head a lot.
Previous/Current Feds: Too many to list, and no one here cares anyways.
Past Titles Held: See the above answer. Jason Cage honestly doesn't know how many titles he's won... at least a half dozen tag straps, a few hardcore belts, tons of TV and mid-card titles, and even a few small titles, awards or tournaments in major world wide promotions like NLW, HWO, G-2, WPW, and GCW. He never reached the top though... still looking for those few titles that actually matter.
