I'm still quite happy with my current one but i think it's time for something new. So, any chance someone can whip me up a banner? My pic base is Jimmy Jacobs (the emo Jacobs with the red fringe). I'd like the banner to look dark and twisted, perhaps some blood spatters here and there, i want it to real work with my character. If someone can do that that would be great.

I know, since Shank's return I have been trying to use photoshop instead of my usual paintshop pro in an attempt to make banners like his. I have come to the conclusion that it is very difficult. I don't know how he does it. What is used to make that, brushes?

sorry Jeff, had a bad day and needed to unwind with some emo art.
And Rigger some of it is brushwork. Most of what I do is just toying with the four most important things I've learned in the 12ish years I've been doing this stuff
1) Gradients, start using them you have NO idea how powerful they are 2) Image masks, they make blending flawless. this is where I use most of my brushes, blending pieces together with rugged brushes to make different textures 3) keep it flat - bevels are evil and. Think of everything in two dimensions and blending becomes much much easier. The more smoothly things come together the cooler they look 4) Lighting. 90% of what I do is playing with lighting effects. Dean's sig was 29 layers, many of which were duplicated layers with different lighting effects.
It takes a lottt of practice, but don't worry too much, I do this stuff for a living.
PS thanks for the compliments

PS thanks for the compliments Thanks a lot for the tips dude. I am going to take a Photoshop class one of these semesters, but I have to actually buy the program instead of just using the trial, which I have been to cheap to do thus far lol. But, if I could make graphics even half as good as yours one day, it would be worth it. I will definitely keep practicing. Keep up the great work buddy.
