On the July 29th episode of Monday Night Smash, we saw Cholo make a surprise appearance, with his left arm wrapped tightly with bandages, but he did not address it during his fire promo, or afterwards. In his August 12th match, he wore a protective sleeve on the arm, but it did not appear to bother him during the match. Today, we find out what happened.
July 27th
Latgale, Latvia. It's the night Cholo attended the event hosted by the New Breed Foundation. Cholo has just told the WGWF camera that he can’t be more vocal from overseas, the camera then stops recording, he laughs and then puts on his jacket and bowtie again. He turns towards where John Cable is standing, watching in amazement.
Cable: So I’m guessing they’ll play this at Smash and then you’ll come out right after?
Cholo: Exacto mundo.
Cable: That’s cool.
Cholo: Hey, don’t you go stealing my lines.
Cable: Is it yours though?
They both laugh and head inside to enjoy the event.
El Intro Shoot
It is a couple of hours after midnight now, and people are still leaving City Hall, after partying the night away on what has been deemed a successful fundraiser. Cholo is talking with Cable about the great night that was. Cholo’s caravan arrives, comprised of two SUV vehicles, one for him and the other for security, not because of Cholo's celebrity status, but because of how unsafe the city of Latgale can be, specially at this hour. Cholo says adios to Cable and gets in the first SUV, which shortly after it pulls off. Cable watches them go before heading back up the steps to wrap up the event.
After an hour or so, the two SUVs ride down a single lane paved road, which leads to the bigger city of Daugavils where Cholo’s private plane is waiting at a small airport. Inside the SUV, Cholo is facetiming with his manager and uncle Paco, talking about his upcoming match at Summer Madness.
Cholo: Yeah, I think that’s a good strategy Tio-
But as Cholo happens to look up from his phone…
Cholo: LOOK OUT!
In the middle of the road, a small blonde girl stands wearing nothing but a white dress pajama, waving her arms for the SUV to stop. The driver seems to not have seen the girl until Cholo shouted, causing him to hit the breaks and veer to the side, the SUV flipping over and rolling offroad into the grassy fields. The other SUV comes to a screeching halt and 3 security guards rush out, with the driver staying behind. The flipped SUV is smoking but there is no fire. They look inside, desperately trying to get to the driver and Cholo. Two of them manage to pull the driver out, who is unconscious. The third guard is helping Cholo, who is alert, and manages to slide out through the broken window. He gets helped up and then right away turns his attention to his arm which has a few lacerations and is bleeding badly. He also has a small cut on his forehead and his right cheek is bright red. From inside the SUV we hear Paco screaming through the phone asking what happened, but Cholo, despite being hurt, is scanning the area for the little girl. The guard who ran back to the other SUV and came back with a first aid kit, works on Cholo’s arm, and after wiping it clean he wraps gauze around it. He goes to check on Cholo’s forehead but Cholo brushes him off.
Cholo: Take care of the driver and call an ambulance, I’m fine.
Cholo stumbles towards the road, as the driver of the other SUV starts to get out to check on him but Cholo waves him off, telling him he’s fine. Cholo spots the girl on the other side of the road, by the woods. She waves for him to come and Cholo rushes over without thinking twice about it. The little girl rushes off as he gives chase, arriving at a clearing, where he finds the little girl sitting on a log. He pauses before getting closer to her, finally getting a good look at her. She’s barefooted, her feet covered in dirt and mud. Her white dress is also very dirty, and appears to be stained with blood as well. Her arms and face though, are very clean, and her white skin almost radiates in the darkness along with her shoulder length hair. She has intense blue eyes and a mischievous smile that Cholo can’t help but relate to that of Jenny’s. Why? No idea, but maybe she has been inside his head more than he cares to admit. He walks up to the little girl finally, who looks up to him now with pleading eyes.
Cholo: Hola, I’m Cholo, what’s your name?
She doesn’t answer.
Cholo: Do you speak English?
Again no answer.
Cholo: Hablas Español?
Worth a shot, but no answer. Instead she points further into the woods.
Cholo: Is that where your home is? Maybe your family? Why are you out here all alone in the wee hours of the morning? Why am I asking you all these questions when you don’t understand me?
But just then, the girls begins talking, and her little voice is as angelic as she looks.
Little Girl: Manu ģimeni ir ieslodzījis sliktais vīrietis pie manām mājām... lūdzu, kungs, nāciet viņiem palīgā, neviens cits nevēlas palīdzēt viņiem vai maniem draugiem... Viņi sāpina visus, jums jānāk man līdzi!
Cholo raises an eyebrow, then looks towards the way he came from.
Cholo: Yeah, I didn’t get any of that… BUT, maybe one of the guards can translate for me. Come, so I can better help-
But just then the sounds of gunfire are heard. Cholo right away covers her and crouches, but the bullets aren’t coming their way. He stands up and then rushes towards where he came from, and he sees his crew under fire from an old military truck who is parked sideways, blocking the road and two machine gun men shooting at them from the bed of the truck.
Cholo: Do you know who they are?!
Cholo looks down, hoping the little girl can answer but she’s running the opposite way.
Cholo: Wait!
Cholo looks between his crew and the little girl and knows he has to make a choice, but he is not armed. He sighs and goes after the little girl. She’s fast for her age and size, and Cholo, dressed for a gala and not a wild adventure, struggles to keep up, slipping all over the place. Not to mention the blood is starting to ooze from his heavily bandaged arm. He catches up to the girl, who is crouching and putting her little index finger to her mouth, telling him to shush. She then points and Cholo looks towards a small village, which is mostly abandoned, with a lot of the stone houses falling apart thanks to the remnants of war, it seems. To his horror, he also sees dead bodies on the ground. She points to one of the houses still in good condition, and a raggedy looking soldier is standing guard. She then points to herself and then back at the house, Cholo understands.
Cholo: That's your house.
She nods.
Cholo: Are your parents inside the house?
Cholo does his best to pantomime a mom and a dad, and surprisingly the girl nods excitedly.
Little Girl: lūdzu, izglāb manu mammu un tēti…
She says this with tears in her eyes.
Cholo: Hey, hey, it’s okay. Cholo got you. You stay here okay?
He points to himself and then towards her house, then points at her and then at the ground. She nods and sits on the ground, pulling her knees in and wrapping her arms around them. She buries her face on them and then begins to what Cholo assumes is praying.
Cholo: Yes, good, pray, because I have no idea what I’m about to do. Glad my buzz wore off quick.
Cholo looks around and finds a decent sized stick. He makes his way over towards the house, crouching, and the closer he gets, hiding in the bushes, he realizes the guard is leaning against the wall, head down, sleeping! Cholo quickly moves on the guard and knocks him out with the stick. Cholo looks around, but there doesn’t seem to be any other guards nearby. He decides to 'stick' with his piece of wood instead of grabbing the rifle and then grabs the door handle before opening slowly, so as to not make too much noise. He then pushes himself in and closes the door behind him only to find himself across another guard with a rifle pointed right at him.
Cholo: Um, que pasa?
The guard shouts something at Cholo in Latvian and without putting much thought into it, he flings the stick at the guard, hitting him upside the head but causing the guard to fire a shot as the gun was pointing upwards. Cholo then charges and spears him through some small furniture, knocking him out. Cholo, realizing he doesn’t have much time as someone would have definitely heard the shot, gets up and looks around the small home, trying to find the girl's parents. He goes into the single room of the house and there they are, tied up to the bed but very much alive. They look at him with horror, not knowing who he is but not being able to speak as they are gagged. Cholo quickly moves in, untying first the father, before moving to his legs while he unties his wife’s arms. Once upright, they speak to him in Latvian.
Cholo: No time for that, l have your daughter with me, let’s go!
Cholo points to the outside and leads them out, but as soon as they do, they have half a dozen rifles pointed at them.
Cholo: Parlay?
Not the time for comedy Cholo, but it is the only thing that came to his mind. He looks around and sees the truck he saw on the road earlier, and a couple of his guards sitting in the back tied up, along with a few dozen others, likely from this village. The leader, a general of sorts, walks up to Cholo and looks him up and down before turning to his soldiers and saying:
General: Kas šis puisis sevi domā? 007?! Džeimss Bond?!
He bursts out laughing and so do his soldiers and Cholo can’t help himself, having understood.
Cholo: What? A Latino can’t play James Bond?
The laughter dies as the general turns back towards Cholo and unholsters his gun, pointing it right at his forehead.
General: Nē.
Cholo closes his eyes, ready to die, but instead of a bullet going through his forehead, bullets rain down from the heavens on the general and soldiers. Cholo opens his eyes widely as he ducks along with the little girl’s parents, hoping not to get hit. Their rescuers are parachuters, all carrying machine guns and without much trouble, take out the enemy. Just then jeeps appear out of now where, and soon, dozens of soldiers are helping everyone off the truck as well as Cholo and the family he just attempted to rescue. Cholo is confused and really has no idea how he found himself in this position, but finally sees a familiar face, that of John Cable.
Cholo: John?! What the hell are you doing here?!
Cable: Me?! You were supposed to be on a plane back to the states, what are YOU doing here?!
Cholo: Man, it all started with this little girl… oh crap! The little girl!
Cholo rushes off, back into the forest.
Cable: What little girl?!
But Cholo has disappeared into the woods. After about thirty minutes, Cholo returns, without the little girl. John is waiting for Cholo with a concerned look on his face.
Cholo: Hey John, you think some of these soldiers can help me put together a search party for this little girl? She’s out in the woods all alone and-
Cable: Sorry to cut you off friend, but there is something you need to see.
John puts his arm around Cholo and walks him towards the middle of the small village. All the bodies Cholo had seen from a far have been lined up, and the soldiers along with the rescued families are together in a circle. John stops before joining in.
Cable: Brace yourself amigo.
Cholo: For… what?
John gently pushes himself through the circle to reveal the bodies Cholo had seen earlier, but to his horror, they are all bodies of children.
Cholo: Dios mio…
He says softly as his eyes move from body to fragile little body.
Cable: This guerrilla army came through last night, kidnapping all the adults to sell them for labor, but apparently, had no interest in kids, so they just, well, you can see for yourself.
To add to the heartbreak, Cholo sees the little girl that had guided him here. He makes his way over and kneels in front of her body, softly picking her up. He then walks up to the parents he saved and hands her over to them, tears forming in his eyes while the parents have clearly been crying for a while.
Cholo: She guided me here, she asked me to come save you.
One of the soldiers translates for them and while the mom cries even more now, as she clutches her little daughter in her arms, the dad looks up to Cholo and says a single word. The soldier translates it to: how? But Cholo can’t answer that, and slowly shakes his head. Cable comes by and grabs him, pulling him away.
Cable: Come on sir, we don’t belong here. This is not our fight.
John takes him over to a nearby Humvee and together, they get in. It pulls away, heading towards the airport Cholo was initially going to. Inside the Humvee, Cholo is looking out the window as dawn is starting to break.
Cholo: I just don’t understand.
John, looking out the window himself, thinks for a while before responding.
Cable: Can’t save every child Cholo.
Cholo sighs bitterly.
Cholo: I guess not, but I’ll never stop trying.

El Intro Shoot
¡¿Que pasa mi gente?! You ready for another title defense by your boy Cholo? It doesn’t get any easier in his second title run, as for the first time ever, he must defend the championship against three hand-picked opponents:
Jenny Myst, who thinks she has already won the match and is planning her crowning celebration where there is sure to be a lot of disgusting sponge cake. Yeah, that’s right, Cholo finds it disgusting and it’s not because he doesn’t like cake, but because she thinks that makes her likable, makes her cute. Because she thinks that will somehow endear her to the world when in fact it barely tolerates her. That’s why Cholo has rarely acknowledged her because he knows that is what she desperately seeks: attention. She wants everyone to find her funny, relatable, even lovable… But barely anyone was paying attention to her little therapy sessions… The fans either looked at their phones or realizing this was the perfect time for a bathroom break. So, she aligned herself, or rather, leeched on to the one group everyone pays attention to, for better or worse: The Fortunate Ones. She managed to hoodwink them, even J Mont which further proofs why he and Cholo are growing apart. But she doesn’t fool Cholo and that’s because he has seen this before from Sonya Benson… Same tired act of a “foul-mouthed blonde looking to shock and awe" but all that does for Cholo is fill him with... indifference. Notice that she has only been made an honorary member of TFO, and once she goes down at Summer Madness, she will go back to obscurity. Whether it's because she was dumped by TFO, because her segment got canceled, or simply because she quit, after losing a match that everyone knows, she has no chance of winning.
Devlin Knight, who Cholo really wanted to get the W he so desperately wants against TFO. But now he must shift his focus and go from being Cholo’s partner to Cholo’s opponent and sadly, he doesn’t have a W in this column either… It was close to a year ago when he and Cholo faced in the finals of the Cannabis Cup, not realizing that the prize doubled because the winner got the World Heavyweight Championship. Our careers have gone in very separate ways since then, Cholo having a successful one, winning a couple of awards in the process, losing the title sure, but getting it back in a match of the year candidate: 3 Stages of Hell. Cholo has been living the life, but sadly for Dev, whether in singles competition or tag, it just hasn’t worked out… Even Stone has been able to go and win a singles championship, but the struggles continue for Dev and while CJ and Myst might mention if not poke fun at the fact, Cholo will not… He will admit that perhaps, Devlin taking over for Fred may not have been the best idea ever. But then again, it’s not like Fred was doing that much better in WGWF. Still, Cholo has mad respect for him, he knows he is one of the staples in WGWF, the flag bearer if you will… Even more so than John Cable who has also had his own identity crisis. Cholo knows he’s worthy to be in this match, having said that, is being “worthy” enough for him to beat Cholo when he has gotten ten times better than the last time we wrestled? Sadly no mi gente.
Last but not least, CJ Phoenix and if you fans don’t mind, him, Cholo will address directly.
Oh shoot, here we go again, huh CJ? The only ‘man’ out of the three of you that deserves the title shot ‘they’ say, because we’re one-and-one, and you were OH so close to beating Cholo for the championship at War Games. Por favor… People want to forget that your win against Cholo was because of Mac… People want to forget that almost doesn’t count, that being THAT close to beating Cholo doesn’t count. What did count was Cholo dropping you on your head with El Matador for the one, two, three. Let’s be honest compadre, you had two chances to maybe, get the drop on Cholo and you blew it. You hesitated to take him out with the title, and for that you are to be commended, no doubt. But then, another thing people are not talking about, when you were on the top turnbuckle, ready for the Phoenix splash, you hesitated again. You had to make sure Cholo was still there, and that second or two where you had to look back, was more than enough for Cholo to move out of the way. It was all over after that, because Cholo may give you a chance, he may give you two, but he is not going to give you a third. To beat Cholo at this level, you must wrestle a near perfect match and for whatever reason, you didn’t. A focused Cholo is damn near impossible to beat, but maybe the moment was just too big for you… But guess what amigo? The moments only get bigger and bigger! We’re at the biggest pay-per-view of the summer and now you don’t get Cholo by himself; now you must watch your back… This time, when you go for the Phoenix splash, you don’t have to worry just about Cholo staying in place but either Devlin or Myst being there to get in your way. To push you off the top onto the floor below, hell, they may even crack a chair across your lower back because in fatal-four-ways, anything goes CJ. Even if you manage to hit your moves on Cholo, do you think they will let you get the pin? Nah CJ, in this match, you must work three times as hard to beat Cholo and once again, if you couldn’t do it by yourself, you won’t be able to do it now.

El Closing Shoot
We can’t all get the happy ending we want, and sadly for you three amigos, there won’t be any either.
Jenny, you think it is a guarantee you’ll get your happy ending because you feel Cholo, up to now, has been protected as a champion. Look, all Cholo can do is fight whoever gets placed in front of him, whenever they get put in front of him. That’s it! Have you even stopped to realize who would be my protector? Yes, that’s right, Chris Page. He makes all the decisions, and you think the guy who handed the keys to the group you are so desperately clinging to, is at the same time protecting Cholo? Get real rubia, no one is protecting Cholo and come Sunday, no one will protect you either. That smart mouth you use to spew hate and filth, will not protect you from the humbling ass-kicking Cholo is dying to give you.
CJ is disappointed by what happened at War Games, hell, it was heartbreaking for him. Well, Cholo is taking your broken heart and shattering it into a million pieces because you will not get a happy ending either. You’re not at the end of your story, hell señor, you are not even halfway… You’re still stuck in the first pages of your book so much so that the trees where the ending pages are going to be made from, have not been cut down yet.
Then there is Devlin Knight, the man who is more concerned with taking down TFO then actually becoming a World Champion, coño, any champion for that matter! Devlin has had multiple title matches but comes up short each time because he gets distracted by his hate for TFO. Even now, becoming THE champ is not your obsession, taking them down is. That’s the happy ending you are seeking, not the one involving all four of us in this match.
The problem Cholo sees here is that all three of you are trying to become just a World Champion like Cholo, instead of trying to be like Cholo himself. To hold this prestigious title you have to put it above everything else in your career, in your life. You may say: “oh yeah Cholo? Do you put this title over all your little orphans?” Yes, Cholo does and you know why? Because they all understand where Cholo’s passion comes from… It comes from a place of wanting to be the best, it comes from a place of integrity and values held by none other in this entire roster. They understand that it begins and ends with the championship Cholo made great again. They understand that from it, everything else flows and that is why it is the single most important thing in Cholo’s life…
Jenny you’re more concerned with being everyone’s sweet sponge cake than becoming that bitter herb that is needed to beat Cholo.
CJ you’re more concerned with being “the guy” in a short period of time then working hard to becoming “the man” Cholo is.
…and Devlin, you’re so obsessed with TFO that you don’t see the loser you have become. Losers don’t win championships. Losers don’t beat Cholo.
There are levels for what we do in WGWF, and right now, not a single one of you, is at the boss level Cholo is.
All of you may become World Champions one day, but right now, combined, you do not measure up to the man who has been THE main event in WGWF for 700 days…
The man who has been a champion for 430 days combined…
The man simply known as Cholo.
Now mariachi dance to that, putas.
