“I have a surprise for you.”
The scene opens as Jamal has Edward’s eyes covered.
JAMAL- “Well, not so much a surprise but more of a congratulations.”
Edward asks.
EDWARD GRADO- “What is it?! What is it?! Tell me, tell me, tell me.”
Jamal cracks a grin flashing his million-dollar smile.
JAMAL- “Calm down, champ.”
Jamal removes his hands from Edward’s eyes and we now see they are on a curbside with a stretch limo in front of them. Edward spins around and looks directly at Jamal as he responds.
EDWARD GRADO- “I’ve never had a limo before! Thank you! Thank you!
Jamal giggles under his breath.
JAMAL- “The limo isn’t yours…”
Jamal laughs out loud as he continues.
JAMAL- “The limo is taking us to the surprise.”
EDWARD GRADO- “Oh…”
Edward states with a dejected tone. Jamal steps around Edward as Grado turns back around and opens the door and Edward gets inside, Jamal enters after and closes the door.
It all comes down to this.
Last Man Standing.
Seth Stevens has been a thorn in my side for the better part of six months. What started on the Smash brand will culminate under the Brawl banner, and to be honest, I’m looking forward to moving on. I finally understand why you have such a hard-on for me because I am on the rise and you’re on the fall. Sounds like you have the John Cable syndrome where you think you’re more important than you are. This road is of your own volition and what I do to you at War Games isn’t going to be for the faint heart. I’ve thanked you for bringing out another side of me, a more serious side because it has led me to attain the first title you ever won; the WGWF Television Championship. The difference now versus then is now the title has relevance because of the previous title holders who took it and made it important. Like them or not you can’t deny Sonya Benson’s reign, you can’t look past what Jenny Myst did with it in her reign, and now it’s in my hands. Our road has seen it all. We’ve fought straight up, tangled inside a Steel Cage, and now we’re going to take center stage in the confines of a match that will only end when one of us cannot reach the referee’s ten-count.
It’s only fitting.
EDWARD GRADO- “Sooooo if the limo isn’t mine then where are you taking me?”
JAMAL- “Just chill, you’ll see.”
EDWARD GRADO- “You’re no fun.”
JAMAL- “I’m going to hold you to that.”
Grado begins playing with his window button as he lowers it half way and raises it back up only to lower it again just to raise it.
JAMAL- “I was glad you called me. It’s been a few weeks and I thought you forgot about me.”
EDWARD GRADO- “Grado’s been busy winning Championships and apologies for not calling you sooner but you are my friend that I could never forget.”
Grado has a cheesy grin grace his face as he looks over at Jamal.
JAMAL- “That means alot, Grado. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that when I saw you win the TV title that I popped so hard for you, but I’m also concerned because it seems like that Stevens character has it out for you.”
EDWARD GRADO- “Stevens, pfft. No need to worry about that assclown, I’m going to put an end to this once and forall. He’s made a huge mistake in waking the beast that rest inside me, and I can almost guarantee that he won’t be ready for the storm that I’m going to bring his way.”
JAMAL- “War Games sounds like a fitting place for all this to happen. I just hope you know what you’re getting yourself into.”
EDWARD GRADO- “I appreciate that but you know that there comes a time in every man’s life that he has to put up or shut up. For the better part of my WGWF career I’ve been the bud of the joke.. .even though I beat J Mont in the middle of the ring, even though I’ve shown the heart of a warrior, and even though I didn’t give up on myself. This is my moment to put up or shut up. Back at Wrestle Wars I beat Seth inside a cage… but some might call it a fluke, and to those that might think that they’ll have no choice but to take me seriously. You throw in that this is my first defense the recently aquired TV Championship then it’s safe to say that I’ve got a lot riding on War Games. I’m pretty positive blood is going to be shed and that Seth is going to take himself to the deepest, darkest place he can fathom because he knows that this is the final encounter. He’s embarrassed he got dropped on the grandest stage of the WGWF.”
JAMAL- “I’ll just be happy when its all said and done.”
Edward then asks.
EDWARD GRADO- “I’ve got a surprise for you too.”
JAMAL- “Oh really? What’s that?”
Grado unzips his rainbow fanny pack and pulls out a ticket.
EDWARD GRADO- “I want you to be there, in Vegas, at CCPE Arena for this.”
Edward hands Jamal the ticket who takes a moment to look it over.
EDWARD GRADO- “Oh… and this.”
Edward reaches back into his fanny pack and pulls out a second ticket.
EDWARD GRADO- “You can’t make it to Vegas without a plane ticket.”
Edward hands Jamal his plane ticket. Jamal looks at it.
JAMAL- “Wow.”
EDWARD GRADO- “What?”
JAMAL- “I’ve never flown first class before.”
EDWARD GRADO- “Call it a thank you for being you.”
JAMAL- “I guess that leaves one question.”
EDWARD GRADO- “What’s that?”
JAMAL- “Where am I staying when I get to Vegas?”
Edward winks at Jamal.
EDWARD GRADO- “The Velvet Rabbit Las Vegas in my suite.”
Jamal winks back at Edward.
I know that much like our encounter inside a Cage that this is going to be more violent and brutal than any match I’ve ever had. It’s going to push my ability to push through the blood, sweat, and tears to be the last man standing and leave War Games still the WGWF Television Champion. I’ve spoken on the legacy of the championship that is securely around my waist and what would I look like if I allowed some talentless turd like Seth Stevens to take it away from me? I’ve worked hard to remove myself from the comedy act, I’ve busted my ass to add some credibility to my name, and I’ll be damned if you’re going to take it away from me. You’ve got a lot of prove, Mr. Stevens, and truthfully you should be jumping for joy that I picked up the TV Title because it’s not like you’d be in contention for any strap of gold with that record of yours since you walked back through the doors of this company. I’ve only seen one person who is more entitled than you in this company, but trust me when I say you’re a very close second. Entitlement won’t get you anywhere with me nor will it get you the victory in this clash of the titans that is in front of us.
You will see a more vicous, violent side of me once I step foot inside CCPE Arena.
I know that I’m going to have to keep my foot on the gas off rip. I have no problems in using anything that’s not nailed down as an instrument of your destruction, I have no issues in leaving a trail of your blood from CCPE arena out into the desert where you’ll join so many lost souls in the shadows of old Vegas. Fear doesn’t exist when it comes to dealing with you, Seth, and I can only hope that after I retain the WGWF Television Championship and leave you a broken shell of what you’ve become that you can find some sort of piece in knowing that you suck a big ole bag of donkey dicks.
EDWARD GRADO- “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?”
JAMAL- “We are close.”
EDWARD GRADO- “Good because the anticipation is killing me.”
JAMAL- “Oh it’s going to be worth it, I promise you that.”
Edward feels the limo starting to pull to a smooth stop.
JAMAL- “Sit tight”
Jamal mutters as he see’s Grado pulling at his door handle. Jamal exits the limo leaving Edward isolated for a few seconds before Jamal opens the door from Grado. Edward exits the limo and sees thousands of people walking past them.
EDWARD GRADO- “What is all this?”
JAMAL- “All of this is for that.”
Jamal points behind Edward and up over his head. Edward spins around looking up at a marquee to see…
EDWARD GRADO: WHAT!?!?!
Edward spins around to a smiling Jamal.
EDWARD GRADO- “You didn’t.”
Jamal reaches into the inner pocket of his jacket and retrieves two tickets and hands one of them to Edward. Edward takes the ticket and begins reading it before pinching himself.
EDWARD GRADO- “This has to be a dream.”
JAMAL- “Oh it’s real, at least according to my bank account.”
EDWARD GRADO- “I… I… I don’t know what to say.”
JAMAL- “I couldn’t think of a better gift for you for Pride month. You’re such an inspiration to so many people that you have no idea. You deserve a night to forget about everything, and have a good time.”
Jamal reaches his hand out.
EDWARD GRADO- “How did you know I’ve never seen Madonna live?”
JAMAL- “I didn’t… but even if you have I haven’t… But knowing that you haven’t and knowing that we can experience this together makes it that much more special.”
Edward smiles at Jamal and reaches out taking his hand as the two men head toward the entrance of the arena disappearing amongst the sea of concert goers as our scene fades.
TO BE CONTINUED.
