Darkness engulfs the screen, but faint twinkles of distant stars illuminate the vastness of the cosmos. A gentle, dulcet voice resonates…
Voice: ”In the infinite expanse of the universe lies a journey beyond mortal comprehension. When life surrenders its hold, the soul embarks on an odyssey, venturing through celestial wonders unseen by mortal eyes.”
As the voice speaks, celestial bodies, planets, nebulas, and galaxies, glide past in a mesmerising cosmic ballet, a symphony of breathtaking colours and shapes…
Voice: ”Suspended amidst the grandeur of the cosmos, souls navigate this astral tapestry, a pilgrimage to transcendence…”
A radiant beam of light emerges, guiding the way through the celestial field, leading towards a radiant assembly of ethereal figures… Spiritual Elders… Cloaked in iridescent robes and emanating wisdom…
Voice: ”And there, among the cosmic custodians of time, the souls encounter the guardians of wisdom… Ancient beings woven into the fabric of existence itself…”
The soul floats there, a shimmering entity, looking familiar even without their human constructed vessel. They “stand” before the council of Elders, surrounded by a luminous aura…
Elder 1: ”Welcome, traveller of the cosmic ether. You stand before the Keepers of the Unseen, seekers of eternal truths… Holders of the self...”
The Elders' presence seems to dissolve the barriers between past, present, and future, as images of Devlin Knight's existence cascade like ethereal projections… Moments of joy, pain, love, and learning… All the way back to Fred Debonair.
Voice: ”A life review unfolds… A panoramic montage of memories, each a chapter in Devlin Knight’s eternal journey…
The soul is now engulfed in a shimmering radiance… But before anything else can happen another elder approaches…
Elder 2: ”Devlin Knight… Now is not your time but at the same time it is…”
Devlin: ”What do you mean…?”
Elder 2: ”It is time for you to go back and fight for what is rightfully yours… Your place is not here, it is with the WGWF.”
And with that… The cosmos pulsates, echoing the decision made, as the soul prepares to descend once more into the realm of mortal existence…
“I can't get a pulse!”
“I think we're losing him…”
“Shocking!”
“Clear!”

“We've got him back. Okay, one milligram Nitro through the IV, two milligram Esmolol and monitor…”
Two weeks ago…
[[As he opens his eyes, Devlin recognises he's in a hospital room, IV’s trailing from cannulas in his arms, hospital gown covering him and Maxwell Mason Stone sat in a chair in a corner, reading a book, but sensing Devlin is awake…]]
MMS: ”Hey, he’s alive! A bit of a scare back there.”
Devlin: ”Back… Where? What happened?”
MMS: ”You walked into my home, we chatted for a bit and then you just passed out. Our doctor tried to revive you but nothing, so you were taken here to Boise by chopper. ”
Devlin: ”Boise? Like Idaho? How long have I been here?? What about the Ice Crown Tournament?”
MMS: ”You got here two days ago... I don't think the tournament has started yet, but are you gonna be in any condition to even wrestle, man?”
Devlin: ”I've been worse, I don't even know why I collapsed yet, so let's wait and see… Hey can you grab me the water from the table? And we need to talk, Max.”
[[Max raises an eyebrow as he approaches the bedside tray table and grabs the jug of water and the scene slowly begins to fade out…]]
Present day…
[[Monday night Brawl has just gone off the air and Devlin is battered and bruised after the six-person tag match. He's walking at a brisk pace down the corridor before he comes to his dressing room… He opens the door and walks in, stopping as he sees him sat there on the couch, TPW American Championship on the arm beside him, Maxwell Mason Stone…]]
Five people stand in my way of becoming the new WGWF Intercontinental Champion, five gatekeepers of the soul and five individuals who I can't even fathom not taking seriously… Starting with THE Tristan Slater. He and I are even in the victories department I believe, but funny how both times he's had his hand raised against me it's been via a count-out. Do you think you'll ever get a pinfall or submission win against me Tristan? Oh I'm sure it'll happen one day hoss just not at First Dance that's for sure… You and I returned to in-ring action a year or so ago now, Slater but we both came back for different reasons, our trajectories have certainly been different… I'm not new to what you've done for this promotion, for this industry, I'm not new to what you're capable of nor am I blind to what you've achieved up to this point…
Every single person in this match has a reputation, every single person has a pedigree, but you to the WGWF are like Devlin Knight to the RWF, FcW or IIW. You and I are synonymous to Wrestling culture and I truly hope you end up being second in the Chamber as you've requested because I don't wanna have to go looking for you in the crowd to settle things halfway through the match, Tristan. I'm not sure if you remember Slater, but when we first met you started talking about me changing things about myself, I'm surprised you're not doing that now to be honest… Is that because you've realised no matter what I look like or what my name is, you still can't beat me in the traditional sense? Guess we'll find out my man…
Austin Ramsey… One half of the WGWF Tag-Team of the year, The Show Stealerz and one of the most technical athletes I've seen in a long time and his technical prowess is second to none. A man who had the roller coaster New York lifestyle that he grew out of and here we find ourselves being drawn in by the man you see today. A man who just like Tristan, has a pedigree, a reputation…
Austin I've seen you for a very long time in tag-team action time and time again but I've also seen your displays as a singles competitor and your ability is frightening hoss. History builds you and yours certainly has. But I know just what I need to do, to keep you quiet, keep you compliant in that chamber and in that ring and as much as I respect you, Austin… I need that belt more!

Devlin:”Max?! Dude?! Seriously??”
MMS: ”Never say never, right?”
Devlin:”But, when? When did you go see Candice and how come you didn't mention it given what we've spoken about?”
MMS: ”Have you heard about the Uncivil War? I’ve learned that I’m going to be facing whoever comes out on top of your Intercontinental Championship match so I figured I’d come over to the WGWF and get an up close look at my potential future opponent. Wouldn’t that be something if it were you?”
Devlin:”I have indeed heard about it and that's another reason I'm shocked you were able to be here and weren't sent off to the slammer like J Mont… And damn yeah that'll be something, imagine… You'll finally get that match you wanted…”
[[Devlin smirks as he opens the mini fridge, grabbing a couple of bottles of Corona. He offers one to Max as he leans against the unit behind him…]]
MMS: ”I’ve got history with some folks here. Most of them probably won’t be too happy to see me. Some of your old Mecca running mates for instance.”
Devlin:”Yeah, that'll definitely make for some amazing battles here in the WGWF… But there's also some other functionalities we need to discuss right?”
[[Stone laughs and takes a swig of his beer.]]
Devlin:”What’s so funny?”
MMS: ”Time is funny, aint it? 8 months ago I drew a bullseye right around your head and now we’re going to be a tag team.”
Devlin:”Huh… I guess you're right, 8 months ago I was somewhat of… Nope, I'm in the habit of owning stuff these days. I was a complete and utter toxic son of a bitch…”
MMS: ”I suppose it can happen to the best of us. This industry has a way of making even the kindest of people a little bloodthirsty in the pursuit of accolades. I’ve got the TPW American Championship and if you grab the WGWF Intercontinental Championship, we can win that cup and start locking down our places in history.”
[[Max gets up off the couch and heads toward the door, fist bumping Devlin on the way out, as Devlin grabs his kit bag and follows him out as we fade into darkness…]]
Dubois, what can I say about you brother? I'm very glad you decided to push back and show what you're truly made of after what I can only assume was a difficult loss for you. You've kept coming and you've shown strength in the face of adversity! It's commendable, it's respectful and it's a complete and utter shambles, son! You're made for this match, you're made for the WGWF but I see the doubt that creeps in your eyes, Dubois…. That doubt creeps onto your eyes, the stench gets up your nose and the taste in your mouth…
The issue you've got, Dubois, is that you aren't Devlin Knight, you're not even Fred Debonair! Hell I've continuously seen the strongest of individuals pass through these doors of which you are one… However this cowardice won't suffice brother. You speak about Devlin Knight having a God complex and how it affected the RWF… I was the Lord and saviour in the RWF I'll have you know. I believe you were suffering from delusions there too, weren't you Dubois? For a while anyway, when you called me out and assumed I was part of some decades old plan... I hope that's all cleared up for you now, because I don't want any easy wins…
Artemis… Artemis… Artemis…Where do I begin with you? I mean I'm not even sure who you are or what you bring to the table. Don't get me wrong I'm not talking about your status or ability as an athlete because lord knows you're extremely talented. But are you an influencer, or cult leader? Are you here to assist in the stopping The Fortunate ones or, are you here to assist them?! You beat me last weken, granted… But as I stated previously you did it how??
You, Artemis, were helped by none other than the notorious leader of TFO himself, J Mont… And all this not a mere twenty four hours after chatting your trash with all your suppositions about how Devlin Knight had walked back into the WGWF as part of J Mont’s little crew… So what is your game really? I mean you've already plugged yourself as the WGWF INTERIMContinental Champion before any match was fully confirmed, you appear to be trying to divide and conquer… All I know, Artemis, is that at First Dance, you will become the hunted…
Time waits for no man… Except me, it waits for me...
[[It's 9am on a Saturday morning and we're in the studio of KLAQ 95.5 out of El Paso, Texas. This is The Buzz Adams Morning Show and sitting in the booth is Devlin Knight, a can of “White Knight” energy drink on the desk… Opposite him, Buzz Adams himself and the Producer Joanna “Barbacoa” Barba. Devlin has been here maybe twenty minutes already and is sipping the energy drink as the music dies out and Adams takes to the microphone…]]

Buzz: ”Welcome back folks that was Devil Woman by Cliff Richard as selected by our guest Devlin Knight, as an ode to one of his opponents in the Intercontinental Title Elimination Chamber match at First Dance, Artemis! Now Dev one man I did wanna ask about it was my namesake, Mr. Spencer Adams because you approached him when you first got back into the WGWF to help you rid the place of that scuzzbucket, J Mont and he essentially laughed in your face… What are you thinking going into the match with him?”
Devlin: ”That's a great question Buzz, because nobody has ever asked me if I'd approached anyone else bar Samuel Chatman and Grado, Austin and Todrick Ramsey and Spencer… Or if I'd followed up and the truth is I haven't, yet… So this is going to be my first time seeing, let alone speaking to Spencer Adams, since he scoffed at me and walked away. Am I harbouring any ill will toward the guy? No, of course not… Look I'm genuinely disappointed that he didn't agree with the predicament I've found myself in but that's the way stuff goes sometimes.
The Badmon and myself have never really had a crossed word that I recall. Although when we first met, me as Fred Debonair, Spencer made the false claim that I was a journeyman… Hopefully he understands how wrong that was though, I'm sure he does. I'm also sure by now he regrets saying he would never pick me to be on his team…”
Buzz: ”I guess it's safe to say Devlin that you're excited about the upcoming PPV event, First Dance and your Elimination Chamber match for the WGWF Intercontinental Title! Thoughts as a whole?”
Devlin: ”I’m beyond excited, Buzz… I'm ecstatic! I've been waiting to make a point since I got back and show everybody I'm doing this for the good of the company AND for my family… Holding the Intercontinental Belt will show true self accomplishment, self achievement, loyalty and respect… Cholo held that belt for a huge amount of days, Buzz, he was something else and now as he's transitioned as the World Heavyweight Champion, there's a gap for someone else to step up, a step higher, with the Intercontinental Championship…
And it doesn't matter if you're Austin Ramsey, one half of the tag-team of the year and extremely talented! It doesn't matter if you're Dubois, who told me I was harmless before falling victim to an OKLAHOMA ROLL! You know what I'm talking about there, Buzz, being from Holdenville! It makes no difference if you're Artemis, who does absolutely zero research and just talks and talks and talks and can't even fight her own battles, needing J Mont and TFO to help her out… Nor does it mean much if you just so happens to be THE Tristan Slater who feels his achievements whilst respected entitle him to be an utter moron… It's not cutesy these days, in the slightest. And no, it doesn't matter if you're Spencer Adams with your arrogant yet factually accurate take on Devlin Knight…
It doesn't matter who else is in the chamber, Buzz, because not one of those people in that ring from Adams to Dubois has the faintest clue about what’s coming! Of course I'll be first in the ring and one by one after three or so minutes another will be added! And one by one they will fall! There are no count-outs, there are no disqualifications it is only the six of us but only one of us CAN win, only one of us NEEDS to win, only one of us HAS to win!”
[[Buzz Adams gives Devlin the signal for wrapping it up and Devlin nods. He takes a bit more of a serious tone…]]
Devlin: ”The second I qualified for the Elimination Chamber match I made my intentions clear, Buzz. I said I was gonna do the belt proud, do Cholo proud and I said that ultimately I was going to make this belt bigger than the WGWF World Heavyweight Championship is right now! Sorry Cholo! But even if Cholo told me he wasn't able to help me take down the toxic menace that is TFO I'm still looking to pay him tribute when I walk out with the WGWF Intercontinental Championship.
Am I guaranteed to win, Buzz? In my mind, yes but in realistic terms to everybody else? Of course I'm not! When you look at who I'm going against you'll probably forget that I'm a double figured multi-champ in multiple promotions… You'll forget that I'm the inaugural and only Seven Deadly Sins winner in FcW a few years back… You'll forget a lot of things. But what you'll remember is that Devlin Knight has been beaten by THE Tristan Slater, has been beaten by Artemis, has beaten Dubois, has been a joint winner with Spencer Adams and has yet to face Austin Ramsey.
So, what am I trying to say? That on any given day, any one of us in that ring can win the Elimination Chamber and any one of us can take the WGWF Intercontinental Title home! And guess what? On January 21st at The Sun Bowl Stadium, in El Paso, Texas… That day will be Devlin’s Day! My time to stand over and for something here has begun. You could even argue that this isn't about the other five in the chamber, Buzz! Because the only one in the chamber that counts is the one I'm blazing through the opposition!”
[[Buzz does the wrap up symbol again as Devlin holds a finger up, grabbing the can of “White Knight” and swigging a mouthful. He stands up, leaning on the table into the microphone…]]
Devlin: ”Tristan, Spencer, Artemis, Dubois and Austin… This is my time and I'm about to claim it. This is my journey's end and I'm about to take it. This is my expedition and you're along for the ride… my world and you're just living in it and as the landlord, at First Dance I'm coming to collect!”
Buzz: ”Wow, great words from Devlin there! Thanks for coming on and everyone check out WGWF Brawl’s First Dance!”
Devlin: ”Thanks for having me, Buzz!”
Buzz: ”I'm gonna close this out with one of your favourite songs, Devlin… Sympathy for the Devil!"
[[Devlin shakes his head and chuckles, as the song starts up and we fade - to - black…]]
