The rhythmic tapping of high heels on the polished floor echoed through the store as Lexi Gold approached a display of fine, luxurious jewelry that she rearranged. This clothing store in particular belonged to her. She always dreamed of this one day ever since she was a little girl and despite the difficulties she faced acquiring, she was proud to call this dream a reality now. After arranging the jewelry to her liking, she strolled to the back of the store. Upon her return, she gracefully arranged clothing pieces on a display rack. Just as she finished, a friendly young female customer approached, her eyes alternating between her phone and Lexi.
Lexi Gold: “Hello there. Is there something specific you're searching for?”
The customer took a moment, her gaze exploring the store, before nodding and meeting Lexi's eyes.
Female Customer: “I'd appreciate your help in finding the perfect pair of heels for an upcoming red carpet event.”
Lexi Gold: “Absolutely. Any specific style you're envisioning?”
Female Customer: “Do you carry beige stiletto heels?”
Lexi Gold: “Follow me; we have a selection over here.”
With a smile, Lexi guides her to the shoe section, then walks away and resumes her own duties. The other woman admires the shoes, then takes out her phone and starts capturing numerous photos of Lexi while she attends to another customer. She smiles as she tucks her phone away and begins exploring the store.
While perusing, her gaze falls to the ground, where she spots an unattended luxury handbag. Ensuring no one is watching, she discreetly crouches down, curiosity leading her to open it and see what lies inside. She begins by inspecting an ID, discovering it belongs to Lexi Gold. “Figures.” She whispered. Rolling her eyes, she proceeds to throw not only the ID but also other items, including makeup products, into her own bag. Afterward, she uncovered a small portrait revealing moments with her family. Though her expression remained unimpressed, she incorporated the photo into her belongings before rising.
Sealing her bag, she approached the register with a composed demeanor, as if the act she just performed never took place. Lexi's confusion deepened as the girl she had assisted earlier approached the register empty-handed. Wondering about this, Lexi decided to ask.
Lexi Gold: “Were you not able to find what you were looking for?”
The female customer, annoyingly tapping her fingernails on the register, responded with a mean girl attitude.
Female Customer: “You didn’t have exactly what I was looking for. You are Lexi Gold, huh?”
Lexi raises her eyebrow.
Lexi Gold: “Who is asking?”
Female Customer: “I know who you are. No need to act shy around me. You are a big deal in the wrestling world. The people who are close to you and the fans must be proud of the woman you have become. It would be a shame if you did something wrong that could potentially ruin that.”
Lexi crosses her arms, and she feels the need to defend herself.
Lexi Gold: “I own up to my past mistakes. What are you trying to get at here?”
Female Customer: “Where is the ladies room?”
Lexi Gold: “We don’t have one.”
The female customer laughs, not finding what she said believable, causing a bit of tension between the two women, but before things escalated, the woman rolled her eyes and quickly left the store, leaving Lexi to watch on, wondering what information she was trying to get out of her.
“As the new year begins, the world of wrestling has changed a lot. I took a break and realized I needed personal changes. Leaving my other company for five years was tough, but sometimes we have to let go of the old to embrace new opportunities.”
“Even though I closed a chapter in my book, my passion for wrestling is stronger than ever. During my time away, I've been checking out the talent in WGWF, including the well-known John Blade. As we prepare for our first match of the new year, it's unfortunate that John's recognizable talent won’t work in his favor this time around. While I can appreciate the persistency you’ve shown, John, I couldn’t help but take notice of a series of losses you have gone through.”
“Yet again, you find yourself on the brink of becoming a lion's feast, and your setbacks will continue to be showcased. I know the assumption of me experiencing ring rust will be in the back of the minds of others, if not by you, then by the rest of the locker room. I can assure you that will not be the case when that bell rings. Your concern should be with what I am capable of doing and how you plan to counterattack it. Mere insults through a rap won't cut it.”
“For months, I've been quietly watching, biding my time for the right moment to grasp the opportunity and realize the goals I couldn't achieve last year. Mr. Blade, you're the first name on my list to conquer. While you may see yourself as a significant figure, I'm no less noteworthy, as my accomplishments clearly demonstrate that. Celebrations will emerge as my hand is lifted in the center of the ring following the intense battle we’ve endured. It will feel as though I never left, solidifying my place at the top or at the forefront of opportunities where I rightfully belong.”
“If I recall, your last match was with my good friend John Cable. While you showed valiant effort against The Beast, you were clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. He left me with scraps to collect from the destruction he caused with his bare hands, and I’m prepared to put the final ending to this chapter in your life, Blade. Get ready to be a footnote in my success story; this fight is just a stepping stone for me.”
