Smash might not have gone my way with Stylez, Jeyster, or whatever clever last name you can place a “y” in. Something like that might deter most and it might set some people back, but when your future is as bright as mine, there isn’t a single loss that holds that kind of power over me. I see it we are 1-1, and if you’re okay with that then that’s on you. This doesn’t end for me until I get your bag of bones in the ring ONE more time to firmly establish that when compared to me you aren’t anything more than a footnote. In the meantime, Frank is the next sacrifice being made by Johnathon Barrows.
I’ve seen you, Frank.
You’re struggling.
More so than most.
Does that mean I’m going to look past you? Does it mean that I’m not going to take you seriously? Or does it mean that you’re not a threat to anybody who steps foot inside a squared circle? Absolutely not. Just because you’re in a rut doesn’t mean that you aren’t capable of putting the pieces together at any given time because much like I’ve seen this slump you’re in I’ve also seen your highest of highs in this business. I know that you’re capable of doing big things when the time calls for it.
… I’m not sure if you hear it or not, but that phone is ringing.
I suggest you answer it.
Because it’s clear that both of us have something to prove and both of us have eyes for the resident Smash Clown. Deep down inside this boils down to who wants it the most. Well, I can’t speak for you but there’s nothing I’d like more than to use this as leverage to get Stylez back inside the ring. If that means I have to use your body as an instrument to get that done then that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
“It’s not the same place it was before.”
The scene opens with a shot at Seth Stevens at an undisclosed location seated at a table in a dimly lit room with a bottle of Budweiser in front of him. Seth speaks into the shadows of his table.
Seth Stevens- “You got guys running around in groups so hungry for attention that they lose just about every match they’re involved in and expect to be taken seriously.”
A ruffled male voice calls out from the darkness.
“I’ve seen the constant failures of the Fortunate Ones on a weekly basis. It’s interesting to me how they claim to be the best but fail to realize that when you’re the best you don’t have to constantly remind people. People will tell you.”
Seth Stevens- “Truthfully watching them implode is going to be a hell of a lot of fun. That many egos won’t ever mix and it’s just a matter of time before one of them makes a stand.”
“Yeah, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point.”
Seth Stevens- “The talent level of the federation as a whole is stronger than it’s ever been, it’s pretty impressive if I do say so myself.”
“I’ve never been impressed with the less talented.”
The voice then states.
“But I didn’t make the call to you to discuss anything other than you.”
Seth Stevens- “Me? What are you talking about? I’m just having a little bit of fun before the sands in the hourglass of my career run out. The WGWF is what I consider my home, and every day that I’m able to step into the ring is another day that I’m grateful.”
“Pfft.”
Seth Stevens- “What?”
“Grateful? That’s why you’re sitting at 1-1 versus being 2-0.”
Seth Stevens- “I don’t follow.”
“You’ve gone soft.”
Seth Stevens- “I have?”
“Yes, you have.”
Seth leans back in his chair before snatching his beer.
“Don’t pout like that because you know it’s the truth. If you haven’t then there should be a solid explanation on how someone with your reputation can lose a No Disqualification match against a scrub that’s better suited surrounded by padded walls, I should know. We smell our own.”
Seth Stevens- “I would consider a single loss as going soft, personally. Times have changed, the world doesn’t revolve around violence or lunacy. It’s a different world altogether.”
Seth finishes off his beer and sets the bottle at the end of the table.
Seth Stevens- “This business now isn’t about leaving lasting statements, it’s about shock value and hot shot booking. The mentality of the boys isn’t like before. Back in our day if you had a problem with someone you’d confront them; now it seems like people would rather bitch and moan on social media versus handling things like grown adults. Ultimately what I’m saying is I’m still navigating all this after being absent for nearly ten long years. If you, or anyone for that matter, seems to think that you can walk right back into any organization and occupy a former spot without working for it, then you’re sadly mistaken.”
We see a bartender approach the table.
Bartender: Care for another?
Seth asks.
Seth Stevens- “Are you good? Want one?”
“I’m fine.”
Seth pivots his head toward the bartender.
Seth Stevens- “Yeah I’ll take another.”
A nod from the bartender as he walks away from the table with the old bottle in hand. Seth turns his attention back toward the shadows.
“Seth, all I’m hearing are excuses.”
The unknown voice continues.
“You have a legacy to uphold not only for yourself… but for us as well. Every time you step into that ring you’re a representation of what true Anarchy is supposed to be. Seeing you get bested by a clown is damn near insulting to us. I’m going to need for you to bounce this one back with quickness and at the expense of FPV.”
Seth Stevens- “I mean, I don’t want to hurt the guy. He’s done nothing to me. I’ve seen some of his stuff over the last several weeks but more importantly, I’ve gone back in his history and have watched a lot of his stuff in a way to prepare myself for what is going to unfold on Smash.”
The bartender approached the table with another beer and sets it in front of Stevens.
Seth Stevens- “Thanks.”
Seth states before going right back to his conversation.
Seth Stevens- “I fully intend on being the next guy to put him in his place, but I don’t need to go to a dark place to do it. I said a lot has changed, that’s not just with the wrestling business but that’s also with me, personally. I don’t have to be an asshole, I don’t have to try and upstage people like I’ve got nothing better to do with my time, and I’m not out here looking for blood.”
“See, you’ve gone soft. Did you listen to what you just said? It’s always been about making statements and leaving a trail of broken bodies behind you. It’s what made you successful in the past and is something that will take you to the promised land once again. Your killer instinct has always been second to none. I don;t know what happened to you over the last decade but you better get it in check and tap back into what made you who you were.”
Seth Stevens- “We will see about that.”
The bartender walks back up to the table with a check and leaves it on the corner of the tabletop. Seth reaches over and takes the check. Seth retrieves his wallet from his back pocket and slides in a credit card on top of the check.
Seth Stevens- “I’ve got a very good feeling about going into this with Frank.
The bartender walks back over and retrieves the credit card and walks off to run it.
Seth Stevens- “I’ll show you, you’ll see.”
“Not with the current attitude you’ve shown. The killer instinct is gone.”
The bartender once again walks up to the table and places the credit card receipt on the table. Seth turns his head toward them.
Seth Stevens- “Thank you.”
Bartender- “No problem.”
The bartender turns to leave but turns right back around.
Bartender- “I know it’s none of my business but uh, who have you been talking to?”
Confused we see Seth look across the table at what once in the shadows to see that nobody is sitting across from him. Seth turns his head back toward the bartender.
Seth Stevens- “Um… good question,”
The scene fades out.
Alright, Frank, it’s time for you and I to meet up and do our thing inside those ropes. I expect you to come out swinging because we’ve both got something to prove. What it’s going to boil down to is who wants it more. I could easily shred you over your record, I can slam you over your lack of motivation, I could do all those things… but wouldn’t that be predictable? I don’t see the need to break someone down when we should be building them up. Records can always change at the drop of a dime, and while we don’t have a lot in common the one thing we do share is getting our hands on Stylez. If I must go through you to get there then that’s what I’m prepared to do. I must defeat you. I must start building that momentum once again, and I assure you bud, that’s what I’m going to do. Monday Night Smash, get ready because it’s go time,.
I’ve seen you, Frank.
