It’s been almost a week since I received the news, and if I’m honest… I’m still processing it. We lost you on a Monday evening when I spoke to you on Sunday night. I don’t know if I was one of your last conversations, but it is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Some people will never know your name, but those who do know you to be one of the most straightforward, no-nonsense, no drama, and could care what sandbox you play in as long as hatred didn’t invade his now hallowed halls. Our paths crossed by accident, but we forged a friendship that will stand the test of space and time.
I remember our first conversation like it was yesterday.
I had seen some promotion for The Entity… and like most, I assumed it would be here today and gone tomorrow like so many other organizations because people fail to realize it takes work to maintain a healthy business and a hostile-free work environment. I remember seeing Todrick Tabor Ramsey put out a call for tag team opponents. I remember calling J Mont and asking him if he wanted to join me on this quest to give Ramsey’s one hell of a battle… not only did we put on an incredible battle, but we procured the straps.
I never wanted to be the frontman of the company.
Truth is I have had my time on top and I know that the days of Chris Page lacing up his boots are coming to an end… so when I was approached to take on Tony Savage for the Entity World Title I balked at it initially; I balked because in this business you have a group of people that like to pretend they are holier than thou and made it a point to try and run me out of the profession. I knew that if my name was on top of the marquee the haters would jump all over it and try to kill someone else’s creation.
I voiced it.
Smash didn’t care.
He saw my talent.
He saw my ability.
He saw what so many others fail to see.
He saw me.
After several conversations and a crap load of convincing on his part, I graced the ring with Mr. Savage and I put him down on what was thought about being his last show. In our business you learn to never say never, so when I got a call about doing another show and if I was interested my response was a resounding yes. Mac Bane and I stole the show in Las Vegas, there isn’t any denying it and yet I left still with the strap intact.
I moved on to The Grand Awakening and put the strap on the line against J Mont.
I left with the strap intact.
I moved on to Us vs. Them and led CCPE to yet another victory over collected talent itching to put a stop to our dominance… while I was doing me I had eyes on the roster, and one name continued to stand out over the rest. I saw a piece of talent that was not only leaving a body count within The Entity but was also doing some things in the IIW. That man was Enigma. He’s bigger than me, he’s stronger than me, he’s younger than me, and he’s probably more hungrier than me.
… Do you want to know something cool?
So is everyone else that I put out to pasture this year let alone those that have fallen at my feet over the last two. It reads like a who’s who of the top twenty from a recent list that most people are bragging about in one breath yet condemning in another depending on which of their friends is shitting on someone else’s work. It never ceases to amaze me to hear the loads of bitching and moaning about NOT making a list when you could easily vote for yourself. Who knew it was that easy to get representation? That’s sarcasm. I am pointing all this out because it does have merrit in this debate we are about to have because there hasn’t ever been a bigger match put together for The Entity World Title than what we are about to see in just under a week on Monday Night Brawl.
You don’t have to ask me if I see you.
Or… DO YOU SEE.
I’ve had my eyes on this for the better part of six months. It has never been a matter of if this would be happening but WHEN is going to happen. After I got the news of Smash’s passing it didn’t take long for me to figure out the best way that I can pay tribute to a guy who bet on me when it wasn’t the cool thing to do is give him the match that he was calling his WrestleMania Main Event. That’s right, Enigma. Smash put so much stock in the two of us, he believed so deeply in us, and he knew that when we touched it was going to be magic. While Smash might not be here in person you can damn sure bet your ass that he’s going to be there in spirit. Orca Field in Orlando, Florida is going to be jam-packed without a seat to be found because this battle, this war that we are going to wage is going to have casualties.
Engima, you’ve gone out on social media and claimed that we’re going to find out who the best of the best within The Entity was.
My record is unblemished for a reason, kid.
I’ve slayed everyone that’s crossed my path, and if you seem to think that you’re going to be any different then I implore you to try harder for it’s going to take a lot more than meaningless words to put these broad shoulders to the mat and in the process lift the strap from around my slender, sexy waist. I welcome you to try but don’t get bent when I send you to the back of the line with your head held and shame while you question how some old fuck like Chris Page has just ripped your head clean from your goddamn shoulders.

“I’m lost.”
A timid voice belonging to Chris Page brings our scene in where we find ourselves just outside of an undisclosed funeral home where Chris Page, dressed in a black suit is holding hands with his adoring wife Candice as the shot features their backs looking at the entrance to the funeral home.
CANDICE PAGE: Just take one step at a time. I know this is going to be difficult.
CHRIS PAGE: It’s not fair. Smash didn’t deserve this.
Chris lets out a deep sigh before he takes a step toward the front door and reaches out from the handle but draws his left hand back.
CANDICE PAGE: It’s okay. This is on your time.
Chris stares at the double doors for several seconds, another deep breath before opening the door and entering the lobby of the funeral home. The door closes behind them as we fade inside to find Candice signing a ledger as an employee dressed in a suit with a name badge approaches.
“Good evening, would you tell me who you’re here to see?
CHRIS PAGE: Smash.
“He’s going to be inside room number three.”
Candice gently squeezes Chris’s hand.
CANDICE PAGE: Whenever you’re ready.
How can anyone be ready to say goodbye to someone they respect? It’d be one thing if it was something you could prepare for as opposed to being blindsided. The same can be said for Enigma, I have a lot of respect for not only what you’ve accomplished thus far within your career but HOW you’ve accomplished it. There’s no denying that you belong in this match but also belong as a major player in our industry.
Now it boils down to can you do it?
Can you do what so many others can’t?
Can you put me down?
It looks easy on paper but why don’t you run along and ask Vaughn, ask Mac, ask, J Mont, ask Corey Black, ask Riaon Kido, as Justin York, ask John Cable or Spencer Adams, as Goth or Ragnarok, fuck run along and ask any of my opponents over the last twenty-four months and you’ll find out pretty fucking quick why I said at 39-7. I can get as nasty as we need to get, I can take as much punishment as you can dish out with a smile on my face while in the same breath asking for another! What you fail to realize when it comes to dealing with me is that I can give two shits about what you want to do, I can give zero fucks about what you’re going to TRY to do. People often confuse efforts with results, big man, the strap of gold around my waist signifies that I’m the ONLY man within the Entity that doesn’t confuse anything.
You’re a secondary champion who had a belt created for him out of pity.
I should know. I was there when the conversation was had.
Now that I think about it, didn’t the IIW do the same thing? Created a special title just for you? Fuck, maybe Smash was wrong about you… maybe I am too.
CHRIS PAGE: Let’s go.
The strides seemed to get smaller and smaller as we headed in the direction we were pointed. Above each door alongside the hallway have numbers over the doors. Chris’s eyes catch the third room as he and Candice stop. Chris opens the door and they both enter to find an empty room with pews. At the head of the room is a casket with the lid open.
Chris’s bottom lip starts to quiver.
He gently squeezes Candice’s hand.
Chris lets go of Candice’s hand and starts to take slow steps toward the open casket. He can feel the tears starting to develop in his eyes. Chris gets within feet of Smash and the tears start to slowly stream down both sides of his face as Chris pears in and sees the masked face. Chris leans over his friend and reaches inside taking Smash’s hand.
CHRIS PAGE: Talk about over dramatic. Fine, we will do the draft now.
Chris giggles under his breath while snorting snot up his nose at the inside joke shared between two friends.
CHRIS PAGE: Fuck buddy, I’ve been thinking about this all week. The tears aren’t being shed out of despair but out of joy and celebration of you brother. You were the guy that I didn’t know I needed in my life until I had you there. Smash, I feel that people are brought into each other's lives for a reason and it’s up to us to figure out what that reason is. It wasn’t until you were gone that I realized ours.
Candice walks up behind Chris and rests her hands on his shoulders.
CHRIS PAGE: You made me a better person because of the level of passion you had for not only the Entity, not only professional wrestling but for your fellow men and women. I can’t believe that you’re gone, and while I can’t change that I can make sure that you are remembered as long as there’s breath coming from my body.
Chris pulls a handkerchief from the inner pocket of his sports coat and uses it to wipe the tears away.
CHRIS PAGE: You’ve left a void that will never be filled.
Chris then states.
CHRIS PAGE: Guess what? That match between Enigma is going to happen. I won’t speak for him, I’ll speak for myself and say that I know that you’re going to be watching from the best seats in the house, I just hope that we do it the justice it deserves under the circumstances because it’s being done in your honor. I know how much this one meant to you and the Entity and that’s why this is happening.
It was always a matter of time before our paths crossed and if it wasn’t big enough with the Entity strap on the line the nerves to compete in a perfect contest are at an all-time high. The last thing you should do is walk into this underestimating me, pretending that my credentials for being one of the best of the bests that elects to compete aren’t a big deal, or going the stereotypical route that most elect to take while on this yellow brick road.
You don’t strike me as a stupid guy but I’ve been wrong before.
I mean I could have sworn J Mont would have come correct with all his babbling and the best he could muster up was that I’m an old, out of shape, nothing happening nobody. The only problem with that is that this old, washed-up grandpa still seems to kick the shit out of just about everyone, and you sir, you’re about to find that out first-hand because you’re not any different than any other man or woman that wants to try and use my name to build their reputations.
It’s alright, Enigma.
You’re not the first and damn sure won’t be the last because it comes with the territory.
CHRIS PAGE: The only downside is that you won’t be in gorilla when I walk back through that curtain to tell me if the performance was what you were looking for, and I think that’s going to be the toughest moment for me once I leave this room. But before I go I want you to know just how much you meant to me because it’s not every day someone looks into the eyes of the masses and gives them a middle finger. You did that for me, and it’s something that I’ll never forget, I’ll always remember, and I’ll cherish more than holding your title for nearly three hundred days. I don’t want you to worry about your staff either, they’ve got a spot with me and the WGWF for as long as they want it. The only thing left for you to do is go rest high on that mountain, brother. Keep the beer cold, the joints rolled, and hang tight… because eventually, we are going to be reunited. When that day happens I can only imagine that we’re going to get kicked out of the pearly gates.
Chris wipes a few more tears from under his eyelids.
CHRIS PAGE: Rest well my friend.
Candice reaches down grabs Chris’s left hand and gently starts pulling Chris backward.
CANDICE PAGE: That was poetic and beautiful.
CHRIS PAGE: That’s from the heart.

The eyes of the world are going to be fully locked in and invested in what will be the biggest match for the Entities World Heavyweight Championship that has ever graced the center of the ring, and I would know since it revolved around me. With each day passing I know what I’ve gotten myself into. There is plenty of tape to watch and get a feel for the monster that I’m stepping through those ropes to contend with.
It is interesting though.
With every monster, there’s a beast to counteract them and keep them in check. A true monster doesn’t need to remind the masses on a weekly basis, a legitimate badass doesn’t need to scream and holler but can talk quietly in a room full of people and they all listen, and I don’t need to parade around with snakes, snails, or puppy dog tails to understand that I’m the guy that everyone aspires to be regardless if they choose to admit it.
Who wouldn’t want to hold the profession in the palm of their hands?
Who wouldn’t want the notoriety that comes with being me?
Who doesn’t like shutting the mouths of their haters?
Who wouldn’t want to run their own successful businesses? My count is currently at three.
Who doesn’t want to command the attention of a room just by walking through the doors?
The simple answer. Everyone.
You see Enigma you’re not the first monster that I’m going to overcome, you’re not the first dude that is going to underestimate my abilities only to find out one second to late after that hand hits the mat for the third time that you are not only NOT on my level but you’re going to take that same walk of fucking shame that so many others have had to do when they’ve found themselves in your position standing in the ring opposite me. I’m the guy that made traveling to different federations cool. When I was touring, nobody was. Take a look around and now you see everyone doing it. Do you know what that means? It means I changed the game while guys like you have sat in the shadows.
I never said this one was going to be easy. I don’t expect it to be.
I’m anticipating you throwing everything you’ve got at me and then some, I’m expecting you to try and surprise me with something new or different, but above all else, I’m expecting you to show up and burn Orca Field to the goddamn ground. We are on the cusp of history being made because, for the first time in six long years, I am going to be competing in a singles match on Monday Night Brawl. The lights are on bright, and over sixty thousand tickets have been sold all in anticipation of the war that is going to unfold in front of their very eyes.
With war comes casualties
That’s where you fall into place.
I know the masses are whispering sweet nothings into their own ears about Page being the Main Event of his own program- in twelve months I’d like anyone to show me where that’s happened until now, and with a very good reason. Smash.
I’m not doing this for me.
I’m doing this for him.
This is what he wanted and this is exactly what we’re going to give him. Peter, might I suggest you pay very close attention to how I handle Engima because you might learn a thing or two and I don’t know… not get beat… again.
What happens when I retain the title? Well, it becomes my property for eternity until the day comes that I can take it with me and present it back to the man who created it. Smash’s memory doesn’t stop on Monday Night Brawl. It continues as we launch our new program that was once entitled as Monday Night Melee but now has officially been changed to Monday Night Smash and following the Cannabis Cup there will be a draft between the WGWF talent to fill out both Monday Night Brawl and Monday Night Smash. The announce team from The Entity has been hired full-time and will be calling the action as only they can. The championship for that brand will be the Smash Championship.
I refuse to let a good man's legacy end.
We will all remember you in our own ways, and when I hit the ring on Monday Night Brawl it will have nothing to do with Chris Page or Enigma… and everything to do with honoring you, Smash. I love you, I miss you, and I hope you’re watching us from above with a smile on your face hiding behind a freshly polished mask. We will do you justice. Rest well, my friend.
I remember our first conversation like it was yesterday.
I had seen some promotion for The Entity… and like most, I assumed it would be here today and gone tomorrow like so many other organizations because people fail to realize it takes work to maintain a healthy business and a hostile-free work environment. I love you, I miss you, and I hope you’re watching us from above with a smile on your face hiding behind a freshly polished mask. We will do you justice. Rest well, my friend.
