The shot opens up inside a small church, dim lights are shining above the small wooden benches while a Reverend is preaching to the crowd of people. Amongst the regular visitors there are two unlikely individuals seated somewhere in the back
Figure 1: What the hell are we doing here?
The other figure remains quiet, wearing sunglasses to hide his eyes as he is staring at the reverend, nodding his head to everything that is being said by the religious leader as the first individual raises his eyebrow while shifting his attention between his “neighbour and the reverend”.
Figure 1: What the fuck are we doing here?
The second figure sighs as he takes out a cloth out of his pocket to clean his sunglasses, this causes him to be revealed as WGWF’s and SCW’s own Goth. Wiping the sunglasses after letting out some of his hot breath come in contact with the dark fabric. He lifts the glasses above his face as he looks at it before starting to repeat the cleaning.
Goth: Why we are here dear Ragnarok is quite simple to explain, is for you to understand what makes me tick.
The answer causes Ragnarok to stare at his tag team partner suspiciously, but decides to remain silent as he is curious what Goth has to say next.
Goth: I can tell that you do not yet trust me, I cannot blame you my friend. As it was ME that answered your request to become your tag team partner, not the other way around.
Ragnarok nods his head, remaining silent as Goth’s attention lifts up from his sunglasses towards the reverend.
Reverend: And it took several days inside the belly of a whale for the Lord to convince Jona to do his bidding, how long will it take!! To be convincedahhh!!!!
Goth: One of my favourite tales in the Old Testament, but the question is rather fair wouldn’t you agree???
Ragnarok: Look, I didn’t agree to story time with you partner. In fact, if you are going to tell me folktales of the legendary book known as The Bible then I’m out.
Goth smirks as he nods his head before putting his sunglasses back upon his face
Goth: It’s quite ironic that people always ask for help, but all you had to was ask…. And yet, here we go. I had to prove a point once more, just like Jona and the whale.
Ragnarok: I don’t believe in your God. Odin is the one true God. He protects me, guides me and will battle with me if I ask that of him. Your God is a fraud.
Goth turns his attention towards Ragnarok, staring at him with intensity as the words that Ragnarok had uttered burned inside of him. He keeps staring at Ragnarok before shaking his head and turns his attention back to the Reverend.
Reverend: The end justifies the means, some people would say that God works in mysterious ways…. All to make us understand that HE knows what is best for us!!!
A smirk emerges upon the face of Goth as he places a hand on top of Ragnarok, who tries to pull his hand away but is stopped by Goth’s tight grip.
Goth: Don’t kid yourself Ragnarok, you were almost begging for a tag team partner to take you to the promised land. I have seen what you have done along with Damage in taking the world tag team titles, yet….
He cocks his head sideways as his gaze turns back towards Ragnarok, feeling his arm trying to pull himself away from his grip but fails.
Goth: Yet you seem hesitant to do so. And I can tell you exactly why my friend, because you have no faith.
Ragnarok: How dare you speak to me like that. You disrespectful hypocrite. My God doesn’t believe in acknowledging liars.
Goth shakes his head as he lets go off the hand, witnessing Ragnarok to pull back as Goth slowly holds his hands in an apologetic fashion.
Goth: And that’s where you shall fail in your quest, YOU need to trust ME!!!! As the beasts that are Page and Main are merely two animals that share one brain, Ragnarok. Perhaps not very respectful for the legends that they are, but are you telling me that you are going to leave me hanging??
Ragnarok: No matter what I will have your back. I’m a fierce competitor at that and I’ll be damned if that part of me changes. So I promise to be your partner.
Goth: Promises?? Promises are meant to be broken!!! That’s how weaklings survive in this world, killing off the strong that dare to stand on their own. And yet when time asks for it, they extend their hand in trust to another alpha male. But I guess you don’t see yourself as one do you??
Ragnarok is about to answer, but Goth holds his hand in front of his face to silence him while pointing at the direction of the Reverend.
Goth: This man trusts his Lord with all of his heart and soul, yet he only speaks has been taught by other religious scholars in believing what is right. I cannot have that Ragnarok, I cannot have a follower by my side as I need a man that is an alpha male. I am the best chance for you to beat Cataclysm as I am the man that took down Damage in merely schooling him lessons of good and evil. Do you want me to teach you as well???
He stands up and motions for Ragnarok to follow him as the twosome walk away from the preacher and heading towards the outside. Goth places a hand before Ragnarok’s chest, preventing him from reaching for the doorknob to the outside as Ragnarok turns his attention towards him.
Ragnarok: What??
Goth’s eyes burn a hole into the eyes of Ragnarok as he shakes his head.
Goth: I need your undying trust Ragnarok.
Ragnarok: I realize my reputation is not the best. It is known for betrayals and selfishness. However, times are changing. I’m changing one day at a time. You have my word that I can be trusted. If I do anything to break the trust I’ll leave WGWF forever.
Goth suddenly places both hands upon Ragnarok’s shoulders, causing him to gaze at both of Goth’s hands before staring his “Tag Team Partner” for the one year anniversary in the eyes.
Goth: I need you to fully trust me, to fully open your heart and soul to me. I need you to look me in the eyes and utter the words that you have faith in me.
Ragnarok: I have faith in Goth.
The two remain silent in the back of the church while the reverend continues his preaching that echoes all the way to the hallway of the church where both of them are standing.
Reverend: And Jona finally accepted his Lord’s bidding and sat inside the whale’s belly for several days before being pushed ashore to spread his word!! Because people, the Lord has HIS ways of making you see!!! Making you feel and most of all, making you believe!!! That all what HE does is for the betterment of HIS people!!!
We see Ragnarok’s head turn slightly towards the preacher, taking in his words as his eyes remain deadlocked upon the face of Goth. Who is sporting an understanding smile upon his face as he senses the realization is there with Ragnarok. He cocks his head towards the door before opening it with his right hand. Ragnarok senses the cool breeze from the early Sunday morning blows in his face as Goth’s limo is waiting for them. Ragnarok walks towards the limo, but stops halfway as he senses a hesitation upon Goth’s part. He turns around to ask what is wrong, only to notice that Goth placed some money inside a collection bag before turning around and notices Ragnarok’s gaze.
Goth: The Lord giveth and taketh away Ragnarok, just like I will give you hope and take that away from our good friends of Cataclysm.
The two walk towards his limo as the limo driver opens the door for them so they can enter before turning his attention towards the road. Goth tells him to drive off towards the Velvet Rabbit in Las Vegas, noticing that this catches Ragnarok’s attention what causes him to smile.
Goth: I have always told the world my friend that to slay the beast, you need to first find it’s lair and that’s exactly what I intend to do.
The shot fades off as we see the limo drive off as they are heading towards Chris Page’s wife’s Velvet Rabbit for some entertainment.
*Later that night*
Goth and Ragnarok are seated at the private section of the Velvet, eating something at a secluded booth while enjoying the attention of the female employees that are serving them to their wishes.
Ragnarok: I feel like this is a crazy dream with no end buddy. Why are we here?
Goth: Like I told you when we went over here, we just entered the beasts lair my friend. I know Page beyond his role as owner of the WGWF. And I know what makes him tick, knowing that I am one of his opponents.
Ragnarok: What’s that??
Goth smirks as he leans back to the seat that he is sitting against while asking one of the ladies that has joined them to bring them another bottle of their best Whiskey.
Goth: Page may be the very well be one of the best owners in the business today, but above all he is a wrestler. And there’s one thing on his mind that will distract him from winning this tag team match.
Ragnarok remains silent as Goth places a napkin to his mouth to wipe some food away while the lady has returned with the bottle of Whiskey. Goth tells her and the remaining ladies to excuse them before unscrewing the bottle of Whiskey and pours some in for the two of them.
Goth: Page wants to be known as THE greatest wrestler of all time, yet he knows that his desire for validation holds no meaning.
He lifts his glass of Whiskey in the air before taking a sip from it before he continues.
Goth: Me and him have squared off twice, once in a tag match and the other in a singles match. And even though the team of Ben Jordan and Chris Page did beat me and Ken Davieson, it wasn’t him that pinned me, it was his tag team partner pinning mine. And the one on one?? Well, let’s just say I let Chris Page walk out in shame.
Ragnarok listens intently while taking a sip from the glass of Whiskey.
Goth: And Chris needs to assert himself one way or the other in this match, because fate has assured the two of us to face again in the first round in the Terry Porter Tournament. Something undoubtedly has made him want to prevent history from happening again.
Ragnarok: What about Robert Main??
Goth: Him?? Oh this is just an additional bonus I suppose, I mean seriously. Everything I do is for a reason my friend, all my intentions are leading towards the Cannabis Cup. The night where I will crush Joseph Montuori underneath my boots for what he has done to me. Because all I am doing is putting pressure on the man that is crumbling from the inside out, he just doesn’t know it.
He takes another sip from his glass of Whiskey before turning his attention towards Ragnarok.
Goth: So tell me, what is your story behind challenging Cataclysm??
Ragnarok: My story for wanting a piece of Cataclysm is quite simple. It all revolves around that no good son of a bitch Chris Page. Growing up I had always heard the name. Eventually I saw a few matches on YouTube and was hooked on this guy. He was incredible and always seemed to be flawless.
He ordered another shot of whiskey and continued.
Ragnarok: However, you know looks can be deceiving so I finally got an opportunity to see the legendary Chris Page in person at Relentless a few years back. It was a match everyone wanted to see. This was only the fifth live event I had been too even though I’ve watched wrestling my entire life. In the front row at Relentless paid over 25,000 dollars and yet when Chris Page came out the place went nuts and I reached out to get a fist pump from him but he looked directly at me and shook his head no and kept walking. I was pissed. Who the fuck does Chris Page think he is. I don’t care how big of a man he thinks he is or was I took this challenge to get my hands on him.
Goth: Interesting. Why would you join WGWF knowing Chris Page was the owner?
Ragnarok: You know the saying keep your enemies closer. Well the truth is I’ve been here a year evaluating every single member on the roster including yourself. I take notes on everything and watching Chris backstage trying to run the company HIS way really bothers me because without the talent he wouldn’t be a legend and he certainly wouldn’t have this company. Perhaps you remember when I was a minority owner of WGWF.
Goth: Yes. It was a bold move.
Ragnarok: I did that to get behind the scenes even more and see just what makes Chris tick. In doing so I have seen Chris made, sad, happy and just plain crazy. The Monday meetings were like walking on eggshells and when he saw me in the office that first week he remembered exactly who the hell I was. It bothered him that I abused my power at times when he did the same thing to me that night at Relentless. He had the power to be good or evil in that moment. However, I also realized that. He wants the very best this company has to offer. It takes a great individual to step up and challenge someone like him. We have a lot of folks here who will claim to be great but if you’re great why don’t you have the ball to step up to the plate and challenge someone of his caliber. However, do you know why I’m different?
Goth: Why’s that?
Ragnarok: You never hear me being praised as one of the great stars in WGWF. I’m the guy who is above-average at best most nights. I get praise when it’s needed but not worshiped like some of the other guys here. Yet, I step up to take on a man who is known throughout the industry as one of the greatest legends to walk the earth. Just like I was the one who took on Sonya Benson and lived to tell the tale because no one else wanted to get their hands dirty.
Goth: What does that mean to you?
Ragnarok: It means that being called great and being considered a leader are two different things. Chris Page needs to fight a leader of this company not a champion or someone who has a great track record. I could give a damn about that. Being the leader I am, it's my job to show him just how tough it is to succeed in WGWF and you’ve seen what I can do first hand have you not?
Goth: I have indeed seen what you have been capable off, that’s why I came out to the ring to prevent you from making a mistake by accepting Jimmy Jackson. Because I knew right then and there that WE compliment each other in the fashion to succeed against a team like them.
Ragnarok: I’m the most battle tested son of a bitch in WGWF. Every time I get knocked down I come back stronger than before. I refuse to be the same guy I was last week. I continue to grow and life will never stop to accommodate me on my journey.
Goth and him both enjoyed a smooth sip of whiskey. He placed it down on the table and looked over at him,
Ragnarok: Enough about Chris Page right now though. I don’t want to balloon his ego anymore then it is so I’m switching gears to his partner Robert Main. I ask you this Goth. Do you know what Robert Main weakness is?
Goth takes a moment thinking about the question. However, he can’t seem to think of anything as he looks at Ragnarok.
Goth: I can’t say that I do.
Ragnarok smirks.
Ragnarok: His weakness is the unknown. Like most competitors he likes knowing what to expect but me and you are going to surprise him. No matter how much studying is done the outcome won’t change. We are certainly an odd couple and we can agree to that. It is also that very reason we are the most dangerous duo in WGWF wouldn't you agree?
Goth smirks at the comment as he nods his head.
Goth: Only fools make desperate decisions in the hope of glory, only to fail. We on the other hand rise to the occasion because that’s what the best do.
Ragnarok: Life in WGWF has prepared me for the unknown. I am always looking over my shoulder and have amazing reflexes. You have grown into a great opponent with amazing potential because of this place. I’ve heard the rumours that he has been out of the game for a very long time. I’m sure Chris Page has given him a false hope thinking he can just walk into MY company and do whatever he wants. Think again Robert Main.
Goth sits back and nods his head as he has heard what Ragnarok had to say
Goth: It is quite interesting how God works in mysterious ways doesn’t it??
Ragnarok sits back as well as he listens to what Goth has to say
Goth: Because all I care about is getting my hands on Joe Montuori, so why would I even decide to throw my name into the hat to be your tag team partner?? Because I am here to send a message to our STILL WGWF world champion, the question remains whether Peter Vaughn will take that belt away from him or not. But I want Joe to look over his shoulder at any given moment of the day, wondering when I will strike next. And beating Cataclysm is one way that sends a message to him doesn’t it?? Beating Chris Page in his own game along with the man that he made history in XWF… HISTORY Ragnarok, have that sink in for quite a moment. Because that is exactly what I intend to do.
He smiles
Goth: Like I said, Chris knows exactly what I can do inside that squared circle, or at least that’s what he thinks. Because I can assure you, just like you told me a bit earlier. I evolve every single moment when people think that they have figured me out. I change and throw a twist to my character that nobody has ever dared to think was possible. And that’s what on Chris, as I am sure of it that he will tell everything to Robert Main about me. I pity the fool that has got to study me Ragnarok, I truly do. I pity the fact that all of this could have prevented IF Chris had not kept his mouth shut and issued an open challenge, but Page could not help himself now did he?? Just like against Cable and Spencer Adams, he bit off more than he could chew and saved their legacy with a sledgehammer. Good job Chris, good job.
He closes his eyes for a second and smirks
Goth: Let me tell you exactly what you two have got in store Cataclysm, you got the brains and the beast waiting for you. Brutality at it’s purest and the animal that is lurking for it’s pray. And then we also have Ragnarok by my side, a combination that is deadly and all care about beating the shit out of you. You see with Cable and Adams it was a sign of respect, because they already knew they couldn’t beat you to begin with. With me and Ragnarok it’s the other way around isn’t it Robert?? Because you should ask your tag team partner HOW MUCH he refears me? HOW MUCH he respects me… And HOW MUCH of the truth that he wishes to share with a man that you trust. Because deep down, deep down inside you already were the weakest link in that tag team match. Already you had to BEG for him to save you… and boy did he ever save you didn’t he Robert?? Because you didn’t wanted another fight with another tag team to show your dominance, oh no. You come out here and tell the entire world…. THE ENTIRE WORLD that you got embarrassed by a man that does not even want to be here in the first place. Is that how you wish to save your legacy?? Because on the other end of the spectre there’s hope and forgiveness. There’s compassion and understanding… And the path to enlightenment.
Goth stares towards Ragnarok
Goth: And then there’s Ragnarok, a man that I have never faced before or ever tagged with. Is that our weakness? I hope so my sweet friends. Because if it isn’t, you will have to rely on so much more than just merely a fucking sledgehammer to bash either of our heads in to secure a victory. I welcome pain my friends, so does my dark disciple for one time only. You need to understand this Page and Main!! You both need to understand that I am not an ordinary man, I walk amongst men and take them by their hands
He stares at Ragnarok
Goth: And make them better, something you cannot save yourselves from.
Ragnarok looks at Goth.
Ragnarok: Goth. We are about to bring Armageddon to WGWF. We will destroy Cataclysm and introduce our friend Robert Main to what real wrestling is. Everything he has seen and heard during his lifetime will not match what we have in store for him. We will make Chris Page regret his decision to get Robert involved in this company. I think you and I can agree that we’ve talked about these chumps enough. It’s time for our actions to speak for us.
Goth smirks as he nods his head in agreement
Goth: The only thing that I can add that after the misery the two of you will endure is that I could forgive you both, but you will have to earn it by suffering the same way that I had to suffer all these months at the hands of Joe Montuori. Because after our match I know I will be ready to endure the pain upon him that he deserves, without giving him any opportunity to be cleared for his sins. So be grateful that the combination of Ragnarok and Góth will stand in your way to free you from your self-inflicted delusions of greatness and immortality. Because just like Joe Montuori will find out at the Cannabis Cup, you will have to realize that there Ain’t No Grave That Can Hold My Body Down…..
The two salute each other with their glasses before taking a drink as the shot fades.
