Joule can be seen leaving a police station with a taller woman next to her, and immediately gets bombarded by news reporters as they attempt to quickly make their way to her Porsche Carrera. There’s lots of flashing cameras, and Joule is crowded with people surrounding her. Luckily, the other woman is doing her best to keep everyone away from them. They do make it to her car, except the reporters are now surrounding it. She huffs heavily, before rolling her window down.
Joule: Goodness, it was just a speeding ticket. Please move along, so I can go home!
She rolls the window back up and starts the car, revving it to get everyone out of the way before she drives off. Joule lets out a heavy sigh before she gets to the parking lot of an apartment complex and stops the car. She parks and closes her eyes, laying her head back and taking some deep breaths. The other woman hands her a little purple stress ball that she begins to squeeze a bit.
Joule: Thanks, Lyric. Sorry you had to deal with that. I know it can be a lot for you too.
The other woman scoffs and shakes her head at Joule. She has dirty blonde hair in a pixie cut, a flannel over her Deftones shirt and ripped jeans.
Joule smiles, her eyes still closed. It’s clear she’s still attempting to ground herself.
Lyric: You’re turning your dream into a reality, Juley. You can’t let the other shit take that away from what you earned for yourself. You deserve this.
Another sigh is let out. Joule opens her eyes and looks at Lyric with a soft smile before going over to her and giving her a kiss.
Lyric: I’m glad I could help you. Now I’m gonna go to the house, so you can get your stuff sorted out, okay?
Joule nods and they hug one more time before Lyric gets out of the car, and goes into the apartment. It takes a minute before Joule drives off. She eventually makes it to a small condo and exits her car, walking into the building. She goes into what seems to be her bedroom, lights a couple candles and an incense as well. Afterwards, she sits cross legged on the floor of the room and grabs a tarot deck, a pendulum, and a pendulum mat.
She grabs the tarot deck and begins to shuffle it while mouthing a chant to herself. Every time a card falls out, she’ll place it in front of her until three cards are placed in front of her. From left to right, she had drawn The Empress, The Moon, and Death. Joule’s eyebrows furrow, still mouthing to herself. She puts the cards aside and puts the mat in front of her, grabbing the pendulum and hanging it over the mat.
After she says this, she feels something weird in the air. Her candles suddenly go out, and the incense stops burning. On the other side of the room, a weird string of purple and blue lights begin to emerge, causing Joule to pop up onto her bed in shock. The lights become a figure. One Joule’s vaguely familiar with, but certainly didn’t expect to see in her room.
The woman nods and sits across from where Joule originally was, peaking at the tarot deck and pendulum. Joule’s eyes grow wide.
L snickers at her and grabs everything for Joule, making sure not to touch the crystal of the pendulum.
Joule: Thanks… Can I ask what you’re doing in my room?
She snickers once again, getting up to sit next to her on the bed.
Joule slowly nods at L, still a bit shocked and flabbergasted.
L Verez: So I’ve noticed. It’s a great opportunity for you to be a part of. I understand the confusion of it all. Us Guardians are a different breed.
Verez examines the room. She notices the candles, decks, crystals, evil eyes, and the energy of the room as a whole.
Joule looks around the room, quickly understanding the question at hand.
L nods and takes a look at the three cards Joule pulled from her deck.
Joule: You know about tarot?
L Verez snickers at the question, as if it was rhetorical.
Joule: Right, yeah, you got stuck in Boulder City for a while, right? I heard a thing or two about that.
L Verez: It’s a lot more comfortable there than one would anticipate. It went from my prison to my home. My being here isn’t about me, however. You have a lot to prepare for. What you do now, both in your career and here in this room. This is just the beginning for you. You’re going to need all the help you can get to learn your craft.
Joule scoffs and raises an eyebrow, almost insulted by what L just said to her.
L Verez: I understand that. My intent wasn’t to belittle your talent. I simply notice that you’ve been struggling to pull off a victory recently. I figure some added support could help guide you to a brighter trajectory.
Joule wants to argue, but realizes that L’s right about what she’s saying. She sighs and rubs her hands through her face.
L raises her hands over Joule, who looks increasingly frustrated and emotional.
Joule: So you’re still part of the group then? Weren’t you and Bonnie like…?
She lightly smacks her fists together a couple times, causing L to look away for a few moments.
Joule grabs her pendulum and gives L Verez a slow nod.
L stands and holds her hand out.
Joule hesitates, not sure what to make of what’s happening.
Verez smiles and shakes her head.
She looks down at L’s hand, and after a few more moments of pondering, she grabs it with her own, and they both disappear from the room.
