OOC: As I stated in discord. I wanted to try and be creative and use my match and the tragic events as a way to shoot on my opponent. If it offends you, please PM me and I will personally apologize. I did have friends in the 1st tower, so this truly was done with the best of intentions.
Memories
Memories
Ragnarök stood in the spot where his father spoke his last words.
He can remember it like it was yesterday. He was in college studying for a big exam when he got word that has father was gravely wounded protecting the village. Once he processed what had happened, he made his way into the warzone. He fought his way through the enemy kneeling down next to his father Charles. The two men looked into the eyes of the other and knew this was the moment both of them dreaded. Charles reached up grabbing his necklace and handing to his son Ragnarök.
Charles: Protect this with all your heart and remember that within the heat of battle you find peace. One day someone will rage war against the country I fought to protect. When it does you need to rise up and provide a way out to the people. You need to be a hero, protector and warrior. Thank you for being my son I'm very proud of you.
Charles gave his final breath as Ragnarök looked down at him. A tear fell onto the battlefield as he gripped the necklace tight. He stood up carrying his father to a secluded area and burying him. He paid his respects putting the necklace on.
Ragnarök: I love you. I'm not just a proud warrior but a son as well. You taught me everything I needed to know to survive in this world. It is time for me to rise up and earn the respect I rightfully deserve.
He stood tall as he walked away alone but strong.
Upon arriving back at school, he informed the professors that he would be taking an extended leave of absence. The professors did not like this as they wanted him to finish the studies and be a great leader of the world. However, the future star of WGWF knew that education would always be available, and he could be a strong leader without the education.
Years later he would see America get attacked. His eyes focused on everything that was occurring as his father's words played in his mind again. He felt hopeless as an American but knew that in the country's most vulnerable moment the entire country will rally and become stronger then every. He had no idea how true those words would be, and it wasn't until he was accepted by WGWF that he truly felt like he could give back to those that deserve it. He never imagined that the battle would be in the ring and even though it has been twenty-two years since the attack Ragnarök felt the need to reconnect not just with his childhood but with America.
Present Day
The cowards that attacked America thought that the country would let it go. They thought we would not want to fight back. Not only did America fight back but we came back stronger than ever. Rebuilding our hopes and dreams in a way that would never be the same again. The memorials erected within the year would signify us never forgetting what happened that fateful day. Ragnarök arrived early in the morning. He knew Dallas was the destination today but that could wait. He had an important message not just for the cowards who attacked but for the man he would step in the ring with Cyrus Riddle.
Ragnarök: Where I stand is sacred. The 2,753 that were lost here twenty-two years today will never be forgotten. They had no warning that soon the lives of family and friends would be changed forever. The mission was clear that fateful day. Americans were going to be sacrificed without giving us a choice. That was the biggest mistake you made because no one bullies this country. However, Mr. Riddle you have that warning. I refuse to be a coward and hit you when your back is turned. I don't need to be like those men twenty-two years ago that wanted to get a message across by striking in the early morning when no one was expecting it. Instead, I will look you in the eyes and you'll know things are about to get ugly. I'm going to take control of our match and the entire world will hear you scream but no one will help you. This is a battle you must win alone. It is something you will try to do and fail because I want this more then you.
Ragnarök started to slowly walk around the memorial while looking around.
You see Mr. Riddle while I appreciate what you bring to this company do you really think the evilness within you compared to me. Every breath Ragnarök takes I feel the darkness grow. It's what makes me go and I promise the entire WGWF nation that my best is yet to come. Being told by those who love you that I'm a failure and will never be anything is what keeps me going as well. When you are beaten every day for making common mistakes it can make you hate yourself. The darkness continued to grow all the way until I left on my journey toward Valhalla. Do you think for one second that someone like you is going to stand in my way? Absolutely not. You look at me and see someone mad at the world and doesn't deserve anything good right? That might be true with most, but I am different from everyone. I'm one of the few to beat Sonya Benson and become WGWF Television champion. I was told no one would want to work with someone like me but yet I found someone who understood me in Damage, and we won the WGWF Tag Team Championships.
He paused.
Does anyone know your pathetic story on how you became who you are Cyrus? Nope because you won't let them in. You try to be a secret that no one can figure out and it was working until now. When you step into the ring the opposition you face is usually petrified of you and it makes for an easy match. However, you are going to be the one kneeling to me and trembling with fear knowing that I'm the one guy who has the darkness to match yours. I don't need anyone's permission for what I have planned for you. Being here in New York City remembering what happened has given me some twisted ideas for what you will experience. I'm not going to disrespect the people of this country and amazing city by triggering them with flashbacks. Instead, I'm going to silent you with my fist. The experience in which I speak will leave you confused because it will be the reality that you have a lot to learn. The WGWF is very talented Mr. Riddle and in Dallas, Texas they will see just how far behind you are compared to myself and others.
He finished checking out the memorial before he purchased a rental car to travel to Shanksville, PA where another terrorist attack would occur. This one however, had an unexpected glitch. The group fought back refusing to give in to the demands. They would the heroes of yesterday, today and forever. When Ragnarök arrived, the sun was starting to rise above the mountains to the west. It was quiet which added to the moment. He got out and made his way down the path checking out everything he could. Soon he stood near the windchime tower.
Cyrus Riddle, I stand on hallowed ground. This is no longer about sacrifice but about heroism. Mr. Riddle the ones who lost their lives here gave up their life willingly to be a hero for others. No one can truly repay them for what they did. Luckily though I have a plan to change that. You see Mr. Riddle we are going to clash in the middle of a ring later tonight. We are going to beat the holy hell out of each other. I am going to strike you over and over again until you have blood flowing from every hole in your body. I'm going to be the hero in this story because I might not be the best liked guy in WGWF and that's fine by me, but I'll be damned if someone like you who has no personality, a big mouth and cocky as hell beats me. These folks need someone who represents America is the best way. Someone who is tough, has a strong voice, knows what they want and will do anything to get it. I'm the American way in the flesh. You are going to feel the wrath of Ragnarök and experience Valhalla in the flesh. Being a hero is something you can only imagine in your life because you would rather be the enemy of the people. You have no hero qualities to make anyone believe in you. It's something you have wanted since you were a child just like me. The difference between you and me though Cyrus is that I refuse to sit back and have a pity party for myself anymore. We both love pain and suffering but I have built a pain tolerance that makes me numb to everything. Even in defeat I grow stronger. Coming out of the shadows moving my way up the ladder of respect. I have a voice that took me years to master and being here makes me thankful for every opportunity I have starting with you. When you succumb to my beatings, I will gain control not just of your mind, body and soul but the entire roster will look at me as a threat once more. The rumors surrounding that have bothered me. I wasn't the better man by walking away. Instead, I let the trash talk get to me and I even considered walking away from the industry, but I stayed for our moment. I didn't want the voices to say they won.
Crowds started to form. They saw him and greeted him whereas, others avoided him which was fine either way. A young child approached him.
Child: I know who you are. I'm wondering why you are here. You hate people and everything about life.
Ragnarök: Perhaps I'm having a slow change of heart. It doesn't take back what I have said or done but sometimes things just need to be put into perspective.
Once the crowd walked away, he continued on.
Do you see that Riddle. I'm being acknowledged for the first time in my career. I am the one people approach instead of running away. The waves of change are upon us and that worries you. The world always supports the new guy. They want him to succeed because they need a reason to believe that you aren't a fluke. Tonight, in Dallas, Texas I'm going to show that change has happened when Ragnarök gets the biggest victory of his career in the Cannabis Cup. I'm going to be the hero that WGWF never asked for. Being a hero is not something I wanted but it is something that the company needs. Someone that will act without question just like the men and women did on this day twenty-two years. Someone who knows that consequences don't apply to them in that moment and will be praised even during the darkest of days.
He took his rental car to the Pentagon. He wasn't allowed in for security purposes, but they allowed him to stand nearby.
This place might represent power in numbers and defensive dynamics but as 9/11 proved even the United States government is not immune to attacks. Everything changed for them on this day as well. The government had to analyze what went wrong. I say all this to you Cyrus because when I beat you in front of a sellout crowd you will have doubts. Your mind will not compute what just happened. It will force you to evaluate who you are as a person. The unstoppable Cyrus Riddle will feel weak and exposed. You might have a system overload and reboot trying to put up a better version of yourself. However, you will fail in doing so because your stubborn and won't admit true defeat. There will be excuses after excuse of why you lost when the reality is Ragnarök was just better. I don't care if you don't believe me, but the facts are obvious. Have you won any titles at all? Nope. Do you have an opportunity against Cholo in the near future? Doubt it. Have you been around for nearly a year and stayed relevant the whole damn time? No. It's not a mistake that I'm here in WGWF. I volunteered for this tournament because I wanted something new. I've never experienced this before. I love the way it makes me feel. It allows me to evolve as a man, character and competitor. Win or lose I'm still a warrior. It won't derail my future but victory for you will only delay the long fall to the bottom and bruise that pathetic ego of yours. I win either way because someone's misery brings joy to my life.
He watched all the security as they focus on him. He decides it's time to head to the airport as he gets back in the car.
No one will be in your corner for this match Riddle. I have the power of Odin inside me. I realize this is a first-round match and losing it would end my chance to be the Cannabis champion. However, the way I see it is I have absolutely nothing to lose in this match. I still have purpose in WGWF. I'll still be a household name while you still try to establish yourself. Before I get on this plane and head to Dallas, Texas let me say this to the fearless Cyrus Riddle. When you look in the mirror you don't see the same image. You see the image of Ragnarok because we are one in the same. You are competing against a man who will outsmart you at your own game. Someone who will read your mind and act before you have a chance. I am the guardian of pain and torture and soon you will understand why.
He got to the airport earlier than expected. The lines were longer than usual because of the day it was and the security risk being high. He got checked and cleared before he waited nearby to board the plane. Ragnarök got lost in a book only to be interrupted by the boarding of his plane. He took his seat in the back looking out the window and smiled.
Dallas, Texas is a place I've never been. It is a city known for competitive sports teams, amazing food and people. Tonight, it becomes center stage for the opening round of the Cannabis cup and yours truly is going to steal the show. In the midst of tragic events entertainment will always be a comfort for most. That is what I seek when I arrive in Dallas. The pain, suffering and hurt caused by cowardly assholes will not go unpunished. In fact, America has already won because we are still here. We are still faithful to the cause, and we still have not forgotten. Just like you will never forget where you were when Ragnarök takes everything you worked hard for and crush it out of existence. Let's see how dark you can go this evening Mr. Riddle. Let's see who taste the blood, sweat and tears first because that's a sign of weakness. I will show the world a different side of Cyrus Riddle. One that is weak and crumbles under the pressure of fame. Welcome to Valhalla.
The hours went by as he drifted off to sleep until the plane landed in Dallas. He hurried off the plane and took the first Taxi to American Airlines Arena. The audience was already waiting to get in as some got a glimpse of Ragnarök. The camera followed him inside where he tossed his bag into the locker room and continued down the corridor. He stopped in front of Chris Page office and entered without knocking. He needed to have a little chat with him making sure another misunderstanding didn't happen.
