I stood up as I looked around my practically empty hotel room. The loneliness still gets to me since she went away. Since Scottie left me here alone. Sure I had made some friends and some enemies. I was beginning to earn some respect from some decently big celebrity names. I needed to call someone. Who would it be? I scrolled the names in my phone. Jason Cashe? I couldn't call him, he was going through a similar situation. He and Joss had split up and I didn't dare call him. Thaddeus Duke? No. I'd hate to get on Lauren's bad side before I met her. Marisol Vilaro? After the scene she caused at the Velvet Rabbit, that wasn't happening. Serena Riot? Junko Souma? Neither of them would be much help. I was realizing that my circle was so small it made Pluto look like Jupiter. I had to just vent. I started my Instagram up as I started a live video. I waited until some people showed up. After about five minutes I began speaking. "People like to say that if it glitters then it must be gold. The problem is, in the case of Lexi Gold, it is more like bronze. Lexi is someone who lacks direction. She is someone who is a pretty face and has the look but she has the attention span of a chihuahua. She is not a factor in my ascent up the ladder, both literally and figuratively. You see, WGWF sees who I am and what I am capable of. They see that I am known worldwide. I have wrestled on every continent on five short months. Hell, I debuted in Antarctica against Maria Caruso, someone else who is just a pretty face. Lexi, what can you do to me that is going to hurt worse than Scottie leaving? What is going to stop me from knocking you into next week? I am so far ahead of you on the ladder of success that you can't even see my ass.
Max Daemon, did you forget about me pinning you a few weeks ago when I was robbed by an incompetent referee? What makes you think this one will be any different? The fact is Daemon, this business isn't for you. You have so many issues that you make Lissie Hope look sane.
Speaking of Lissie Hope. Hi Johnny. The man who is the Ike to Lissie's Tina. The Bobby to Lissie's Whitney. The Chris Brown to Lissie's Rihanna. I know what you and others will say but the fact that it is in a wrestling ring doesn't change the fact that you like to, as the Prodigy said, smack your bitch up. The problem is your bitch smacks back. She has put you in your place a few times hasn't she? You beat her for the CU:LT New World Championship? That's like winning a silver medal in the Goodwill games. The fact is no one cares. No one likes you and your emo boy haircut. The fact of the matter is you don't matter. You are like Grimes. You are only relevant because you are fucking a true celebrity. Hey Lissie, if you need some real fun, call me."
I paced the hotel room that had seemingly become my prison, much like the midcard in WGWF had. Twice I was overlooked by Jim Caedus and Peter Vaughn. Once when they drafted and again when some bitch dropped off Jim's team. I was overlooked, once again, for Spencer Adam's. Spencer had been a thorn in my side since he showed up in WGWF and I would make sure he got his but I had to put it all into perspective. I decided that since we were in Vegas, maybe I needed to go gamble a bit. I walked out of my room and to the casino adjacent. I sat at the poker table and the dealer, hidden face and all looked at me. I was the only one at the table. He dealt my cards as I looked at them. Pocket Aces. It seemed my luck was changing. I raised the bet a bit. Slow play it Brooke. Slow play it. $50. I laid it down. The dealer hadn't even looked at his cards and called me. Another card thrown my way. I looked at it. Another Ace! Don't give it away Brooke. Hide yourself. Hide your cards. I threw $100 down. Again, the dealer didn't look at his cards and called. Another card. A king! I checked. Don't give it away. The dealer went all in. I have to win. I went all in as well. He flipped his cards. Three eights and a two. I flipped revealing what I had. We were both chasing a full house. Gotta love five card stud. He flipped my final card over…. A 10. My jaw dropped as I looked at him. He flipped his next card over. A fucking two. He looked at me and spoke in a soft voice, almost as if he were hiding something. "Full House. Sorry about your luck kid."
He took my chips and walked off. A dealer walked up and looked at me. They smiled and spoke politely. "Sorry I was late. Are you ready to help me open this table up?"
I looked at him with a confused look. "What about the last dealer?"
The new dealer looked at me with a confused look. "Sweetheart, I am the only dealer of this table."
I grabbed my remaining chips and went looking for the "dealer" who swindled me. I found them and turned them around. My jaw dropped. "You? But why?"
They turned the camera off and whispered. "You need to realize that the gamble may not always pay off. But when it does? You need to reap the rewards. You will one day learn that guys like Page are not to be trusted."
He walked off as I pondered his words. Why would he warn me about Page? As in reap the reward of this ladder match but be prepared for Page to fuck me over? I kept thinking as I walked back to my room and plopped down on the bed. I laid there and wondered what they meant as the scene faded to black. No time to think. Time to climb the ladder.
