THE MEETING:
“I don’t understand why you won’t show up.”
The scene opens as Chris Page is shown on a Facetime call with Adam Barker. The whereabouts of Chris are unknown at the moment as we see Adam answer.
ADAM BARKER- “I’m not ready to come face to face with him; you should understand that.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Adam, he played you in a moment of weakness and used you as a pawn to get to me. You SHOULD be ringside and watch as I systematically take him to fucking school.”
Adam shakes his head as he spouts back.
ADAM BARKER- “Nah Chris, can’t do it… not yet.”
Adam casually states before taking a momentary pause before he continues.
ADAM BARKER- “I appreciate you standing up for me and being there for me while I am trying to get myself back together, but I can’t have any part in this.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Alright, if you insist.”
Chris states with a state of disbelief.
CHRIS PAGE- “I gotta run, I got to do this thing.”
ADAM BARKER- “Talk to you soon.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Later.”
Chris ends the facetime call before placing his cellphone in the inner coat pocket of his black blazer as the camera pans back revealing Chris is seated at bakery off the beaten path somewhere in London, England, host of the 2018 Summer Madness Event. We get an over the shoulder view of whom Chris is now speaking too.
CHRIS PAGE- “There’s a change in plan.”
“Change?”
A male’s voice scoffs out.
“Change isn’t something we like to hear.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Well, you know as Reo Speedwagon would say, keep on rolling with the changes.”
Chris spouts out.
“Not funny.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Well, I kind of thought it was funny and entertaining.”
“Does it look like I’m here to play games? Do you see a smile on my face? Am I fucking laughing?”
There’s nothing from Page.
“I didn’t think so.”
Chris chimes in.
CHRIS PAGE- “Relax.”
He states.
“How can you tell me to relax? Adam being here is crucial. Need I remind you that you made promises to us; promises that should you not uphold too, well, let’s just say ramifications will be felt.”
Chris leans back in his chair as he reaches to the table taking his crumpet. He takes a bite before scoffing at it as he tosses it back down on a small white plate. He snatches a napkin from the table, raises it to his mouth, spits the crumpet out into the napkin before wadding it up and putting it on the table. He looks towards the gentleman he’s speaking too.
CHRIS PAGE- “Never understood how the British thinks this taste good.”
“Listen, I’m not going to sit here and waste my time.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Who is wasting time? I told you that we would handle it and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. I give you my word.”
“You gave me your word that Adam would be here and as you can see… he isn’t here.”
CHRIS PAGE- “You got to cut Adam a break he’s coming off a traumatic experience. I thought for sure he would be here, so in this regard, I’ll take all the heat for telling you that he would be.”
“How exactly are you going to handle it now?”
CHRIS PAGE- “Plan B.”
“There’s a Plan B?”
CHRIS PAGE- “There’s always a Plan B and a Plan C, if I’m being honest.”
“I’m listening.”
CHRIS PAGE- “While Adam isn’t here… I am; and if anyone knows me they know that when it comes to Professional Wrestling I’m one of the best in the business, so, you’ll have to excuse me if I look at the fact that Adam isn’t here as not such a big deal when you consider that I am the mother fucker that’s going to be standing in the ring with him.”
“Grimoire is owed so much more than what you’re going to give.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Grim doesn’t really realize what he’s got standing in front of him when it comes to dealing with me, as a matter of fact neither are you, so with all due respect you don’t know what you’re getting when you’re getting “Chronic” Chris Page.”
Chris leans back in his chair as his eyes cut towards the door before back towards the gentleman.
CHRIS PAGE- “Fear is a wonderful emotion to play with and is a tool that one Mr. Xmyles loves to use to exploit the weaknesses in his opponents; yet fear is the one emotion that seemed to miss me.”
Chris states as his tone shifts to a more stern and serious approach as he leans in resting his arms on the edge of the table drawing his face closer.
CHRIS PAGE- “I know exactly what I am dealing with and let me tell you that all the theatrics in the world isn’t going to be enough for him to so much as put a kink in my armor. I’m a realist, a purest if you will…”
“Not to interrupt you… but do you think he gives a shit about any of that?”
CHRIS PAGE- “I’m banking on the fact that he doesn’t.”
Chris states as smirk graces his face. He pushes himself off the table and rests back into his chair.
CHRIS PAGE- “More importantly… I don’t care if he does. You see something I’ve prided myself on over the decades I’ve been in the business is playing the games BETTER than the ones TRYING to play with me. What you’ve seen thus far has been MY game of chess and from the looks of the board I’ve got checkmate in very short order.”
“What assurances do I have that you’re going to handle this?”
CHRIS PAGE- “Are you listening to a word that’s coming out of my fucking mouth?”
Chris spouts out.
CHRIS PAGE- “You want assurances? Watch Summer Madness and you’ll get all the assurances that you need.”
Chris states.
CHRIS PAGE- “But let me tell you what you’re not going to do. You’re not going to sit in front of me and play this whole intimidation game because you’re failing; miserably, you’re not going to sit in front of me and think for one second that I’m obligated to anything other than show up at Summer Madness and kick the shit out of Grimoire because that’s happening; but not because of you or any kind of arrangement made with Adam.”
Chris states with absolutely no fear.
CHRIS PAGE- “My involvement is on a personal level because Adam Barker is one of my best friends, he’s family; and when you fuck with my family it doesn’t go unanswered. Grim is going to get what he has coming to him by my hands. So, go tell whoever you have to tell that I’m taking care of this for Adam… not for any other reason, and the next time you feel the need to try and strong arm me you might want to bring a little extra backup because I’m being incredibly nice at the moment; I won’t be next time.”
Chris stares intently across the table as there’s silence between the two men.
CHRIS PAGE- “Anything else?”
“We will see you soon.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Better be a WE.”
Our scene fades as we see Chris eyes dart up and towards the entry of the bakery where two large white men in black suits with shades covering their eyes have entered and stand with their arms crossed across their chests. There’s a sly smirk from Chris as his attention diverts back to whom he is speaking with.
CHRIS PAGE- “Let me guess, they’re with you.”
Chris shakes his head from side to side.
“I never go anywhere without insurance.”
Chris chuckles as he states.
CHRIS PAGE- “I hope you brought more insurance than that.”
“Just see to it that you uphold to your word because I would hate for anything else to happen to Adam… or maybe… Andy.”
We see Chris’s widen his eyes as the sounds of a chair sliding out from the table is heard followed by what appears to be someone getting up.
“I’ll be seeing you soon.”
And with those words our scene fades to black.
THE INTERVIEW:
The scene opens at a WGWF Summer Madness Access event being held at the O2 Arena in London, England over the course of Summer Madness weekend. An aerial of the arena floor shows a section with a WGWF ring which has some attention, meet and greet tables with various WGWF legends and on the far side of the arena floor a stage has been set up and a makeshift Ladies Night set has been erected. In front of the stage security barriers have been set up and hundreds of fans have gathered in front of it. There’s a pop from the crowd as Denise Essex emerges on to her toned down set. She waves at the crowd, blows them a kiss before taking her microphone and her seat before addressing the fans.
DENISE ESSEX- “Summer Madness is almost here! Are you guys excited!!”
The ovation grows louder from the fans as Denise continues.
DENISE ESSEX- “It’s going to be a HUGE night at Wembley Stadium in just a few short nights with a lot of action packed matches featuring the Fatal Four Way Elimination Match pitting THE Tristan Slater…”
Boos from the crowd at the mention of Slater’s name.
DENISE ESSEX- “John “The Beast” Cable.”
The crowd pops big for the mention of Cable’s name.
DENISE ESSEX- “Alyce Starchylde.”
More boos at the mention of Alyce’s name.
DENISE ESSEX- “And of course the hometown legend; three simple letter, M.D.K!”
The crowd roars at the mention of MDK!!
DENISE ESSEX- “Pretty clear who you guys are pulling for! Also on the card you’re going to see One Fall to a Finish and there MUST be a winner as the WGWF Intercontinental Champion Christian Connolly looks not only to defend the Intercontinental Championship but also make history by becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in the WGWF history as he takes on Chris Dorling!”
A nice pop for the final match in this ongoing saga between Dorling and Connolly.
DENISE ESSEX- “And to discuss our next contest please join me in welcoming my guest at this time; “Chronic” Chris Page!!!
All attention of the fan fest attendee’s shift towards the stage. The fans start to crowd upon hearing the music over the speakers. Second later we see emerging on to the stage in a pair of jeans, white t-shirt with a black leather jacket on is none other than the LEGENDARY ICON that is “Chronic” Chris Page. There’s a nice reception for Chris, more so out of respect than out of actually liking the guy. Chris raises both arms up in the air as we see some flashes from camera’s going off from sporadic portions of the crowd. Chris lowers his arms before his attention shifts towards Denise who has gotten up from her comfy chair and is applauding Chris as he walks towards her. The two shake hands before each taking a seat while the must slowly starts to fade away leaving Denise to start things off.
DENISE ESSEX- “Thanks for coming out for this very special addition of Ladies Night and welcome to Summer Madness!”
CHRIS PAGE- “Glad to be here so we can get everything out on the table.”
DENISE ESSEX- “I guess we can jump right into this because you match at Summer Madness wasn’t necessarily built out of anything other than hate. Coming off Wrestle Wars the big question for you was what would you do next? I mean, you started 2018 off with a huge victory at the West Coast Rumble as you became the only man to win the Rumble, twice. Then you move on to Wrestle Wars where you took on your son, Andy Johnson, only to come up on the short end of the stick… and it looked like you were in line for some off time before the Adam Barker incident.”
CHRIS PAGE- “If you’re talking about how Grimoire Xmyles took advantage of someone under the influence, than yes, it was an incident. Grim tried so hard to frame Adam’s scene as a suicide attempt but he was ultimately pulling the strings.”
DENISE ESSEX- “Before we all knew the whole story we all thought Adam attempted to take his own life. When you found out it was a ploy from Grimoire what was your initial thoughts?”
CHRIS PAGE- “Anger; initially, but then shifted to more of a catch as catch can approach. Some say his attempts at Barker is to get to me, others say I play not part in his twisted little game. All I know is I’m here and it’s game fucking on.”
Chris states with sheer and utter seriousness.
CHRIS PAGE- “Do I look like I’m here to play around with Grim? Fuck the how we got here bullshit because the fact of the matter is that we’re here and this is going to happen and it’s going to be played by my rules.”
DENISE ESSEX- “Which explains the pure wrestling rules stipulation to the contest.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Exactly.”
Chris states.
CHRIS PAGE- “When it comes to Grimoire we are all well aware of how vile and nasty he can get when he’s in his element. Look at what happened with him and Lunacy leading up to and including Wrestle Wars. Hell, look at any match he’s been involved in where he dictates the stipulations and he’s seemingly unbeatable because you simply can’t prepare for batshit crazy.”
Chris seriously states as he shifts his eyes out towards the massive crowd that’s gathered.
CHRIS PAGE- “As I look out at the fans here today I can say with a clear conscious that I took the bullets out of Grimoire’s gun… and I put them in mine.”
Chris shifts his attention back towards Denise as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “Grim isn’t the only guy who knows how to play games; but since he wants to play games we’re going to play some games and I’m going to play them better than Mr. Xmyles ever thought about playing. Take everything that’s transpired up until this point, every encounter before I laid my challenge was more and more violent at every turn… I had him believing that this encounter was going to be played his way… and with the snap of the fingers he now has gone from the hunter…. to the hunted.”
There’s sheer malice and intent with the words that are being delivered as Chris hasn’t taken his eyes off Denise.
CHRIS PAGE- “Everyone knows who I am and know I can get down and fight with the best of them… BUT I can also fucking wrestle! Grim is going to have to prove to me that he’s worth my time to play the game his way which is why I’ve gone on record by saying that if by some reason hell freezes over he does OUT WRESTLE ME and defeats me… I’ll willingly accept any challenge he wants to throw down at me with opens arms…”
Denise chimes in.
DENISE ESSEX- “Wait… you’re serious about that? If Grimoire Xmyles defeats you at Summer Madness you’re going to accept any challenge he issues to you?”
CHRIS PAGE- “Anything he wants.”
Chris states.
CHRIS PAGE- “Any match he wants.”
Chris follows with.
CHRIS PAGE- “IF he out wrestles me; and let’s face it, Paul Frost has a better shot at returning on this show than GX has of ever thinking he can stand toe to toe, hold for hold and move for move with one of the greatest wrestlers to ever walk the face of God’s green Earth.”
The crowd responds as Chris shifts his attention towards the camera that’s filming the segment.
CHRIS PAGE- “Adam Barker.”
He states.
CHRIS PAGE- “While you’re back in Los Angeles I know you’re going to see this and while you’re not in my corner to watch me hand Grim his ass physically I know you’re going to be there spiritually because make no mistake about it when I say that this match is for you. What I do to Grim is for you…”
His tone now shifts to more stern.
CHRIS PAGE- “And Grim, I want you to know this… you’re not picking on someone close to sixty years old… you’re not picking on someone who hasn’t been an active in any form for the last thirteen years… you’re picking on the top of the food chain, you’re picking on the alpha male of this organization and come Summer Madness I’m going to step through those ropes and expose everything about you as a performer before I put you away once and for all. You want me? Be careful what you wish for because in a few days time you’re going to get it.”
There’s a momentary pause from Chris before he softly spouts out.
CHRIS PAGE- “Run.”
The scene fades to black.
