Recap: In the past months our hero Andy Johnson has been trying to determine whether his mother is truly alive or dead. The adventure has led him down a winding road as a group calling themselves The Syndicate have been hot on his trail for some time, questioning him about the whereabouts of his mother. Andy searching for answers did the only thing he thought that would really answer the question which was an unspeakable act… He dug up the grave of his mother only to find a mannequin with an envelope. The contents of the envelope hasn’t been released until…
~*~ Our scene opens up the Wednesday before Wrestle Wars as Andy Johnson Page is seen coming out of Sherton Atlanta Hotel. Andy is decked out in a full suit, WGWF Television title slung over his right shoulder and sporting a cool reflective pair of aviators. Andy walks up to a long white stretch limo as a short old man opens the back door to the limo and Andy gets into the limo. The camera follows Andy into the limo. Andy sits there, not saying a word, but you can tell by the look on his face that Andy Johnson is laser focussed for his match up with Chris Page on the grandest stage of them all. The door closes and the limo starts to drive. Andy still sits there, in complete silence. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out some ear buds and he places them in his ears.~*~
Boulevard of Broken Dreams is heard playing through the ear buds..
“I walk this empty street on the boulevard of broken dreams… Damn, that’s my life in a nut shell. Exactly a year ago a dream of mine came true… I found out who my father was, and I thought that for once in my life, I might be able to find true happiness, but that all turned around real fast. It went from a dream, to a nightmare in less than one year… Now I find myself alone again, but with all the shit that’s happened, it has made me stronger. It’s made me believe in myself. I can’t wait to show the world what I can do at Wrestle Wars when I pull out the most massive upset arguably in WGWF history.”
~*~ Andy hits the next button on the iPod and In The End by Linkin Park plays.
“I tried so hard, and got so far…. But in the end it doesn’t even matter. God damn to those lyrics ring through. I’ve fought to find out who my father has been for over 23 years, but now that I look back on the journey does it really matter? I was probably better off not looking for that asshole. Now that I see him for who he truly is, maybe this was all just a big mistake. Since it’s been revealed and since he turned his back on his own blood, all he’s tried to do is literally cripple me. He was almost successful, but I will be the one standing tall at the end of Wrestle Wars.”
~*~ The limo pulls up to the Atlanta Convention Centre at AmericasMart. The door swings open and Andy steps out to look at the Atlanta Convention Centre at AmericasMart, he sees the huge Wrestle Wars All Axesss poster with his face front and centre with his father turned rival “Chronic” Chris Page. Andy mouths, “wow” as he walks up to the superstars entrance, there are hundreds of fans lined up along the building chanting “ANDY JOHNSON…ANDY JOHNSON…ANDY JOHNSON…” Andy Johnson smiles politely and waves to the fans as he enters the building and is met by Flash Rotten.~*~
Flash: You ready big guy?
Andy: You know it.
Flash: Don’t worry the Q/A with the media and the fans is usually is a cake walk. We’ve made sure that CCP won’t be in the building and it’s your time along with a few others on the show and other WGWF legends panel. The panel is a mix of legends and current roster members. Just go out there and have fun.
Andy: Yeah sure, Flash. I’ll try and have fun out there.
Flash: Great.
~*~ Andy makes his way through the backstage area of the convention centre and makes his way to the Q & A stage. He sees his name plate and sits down in front of the name plate, other legends and hall of famers have all arrived and are sitting at their spots. Andy takes off his sunglasses and sets them down. People are starting to file into the area “Heroes” by Motorhead blares over the PA system and the lights get brighter and Denise Essex makes her way out to a huge ovation from the crowd. The music dies down as Denise gets a microphone.~*~
Essex: Hello everybody and WELCOME! To the WGWF Past, Present and FUTURE Q & A session. You’ll see that theres mic’s set up in the aisle so if you have a question just walk up and ask it. We are all so pumped for Wrestle Wars and this event wouldn’t be happening if it wasn’t for you, the fans!!!
~*~ The crowd pops and Andy Johnson looks into the bright lights…~*~
Flashback
~*~ Andy Johnson is on the run with envelope in hand. He runs and runs until he can no longer breathe. He cuts down a side street and jumps into a black dumpster and pulls the lid over him. Andy pulls out his cell phone to light up the inside of the dumpster. He slowly rips open the envelope to pull out a piece of paper. Andy reads the message underneath his breathe.~*~
Andy: You know who I am, but I can’t tell you who I am right now Andy. I’ve been following your journey for a long time. It’s time you find what you have been looking for. Your mother. She is indeed alive Andy. Think of her favourite places, think of the things she played with you as a child, and this will lead you to her.
~*~ Andy folds up the letter and puts it into his pocket, he peaks out of the dumpster to see that the coast is indeed clear. Andy hops out of the dumpster…
Essex: Andy did you hear the question??
~*~ Back to reality.~*~
~*~ Andy looks confused as Essex is looking right at Andy Johnson and a fan is standing at the mic.~*~
Andy: No sorry could you repeat the question.
Fan: We all want to know what your medical condition is going into this unsanctioned match with Chris Page.
Andy: Well to be honest, I’m not at 100%, I may never be at 100% ever again in my career. The beating that CCP put on me months ago as so severe that I was advised that I should probably never wrestle again. I still go through some dizzy spells from the concussion and we are working really hard with the training staff to rehab torn cartilage on my abdominal region, but trust me, my body might not be at 100% for this match, but my heart and my mind are running at 100%. That is all I will need to beat CCP. He may be the better in ring technician, but the way I’m feeling right now. He won’t be able to break me.
Essex: Thank you Andy.
~*~ Andy slouches back into the chair and continues looking into the bright lights.~*~
~*~Flashback.~*~
~*~Flashback.~*~
~*~Weeks have passed since Andy found the letter in his mothers empty grave. He has since suffered a concussion at the hands of his father CCP. Andy is seen sitting inside a small diner by himself in his hometown of Las Vegas. He has the letter he found next to his bacon and eggs and a note pad.~*~
Andy: Things my mom told me… Fuck… This concussion is really messing with me. My memory is so fucked right now.
~*~ Andy looks around the diner for clues.~*~
Andy: This was her favourite breakfast spot. It’s the only place she ever took me.
~*~ Andy looks around the diner some more. Andy gets up and starts to look at the pictures around the diner. Most of them are country themed. Andy stares harder at the pictures. The waitress taps him on the shoulder.~*~
Waitress: Are you looking for something sir?
Andy: There’s a lot of country pictures in this place. Is there a particular reason?
Waitress: The owner, she loved the country. So she just went with it I guess.
Andy: Where are the pictures from.
Waitress: Hmmm, I’m pretty sure that is Nebraska.
Andy: Cool. Thanks.
~*~ Andy sits back down and takes out a pen and writes Nebraska on the note pad with a question mark after it. The waitress comes by and places the bill on the table.~*~
Andy: Where is the owner? I’d like to speak to her about the pictures.
Waitress: Oh, that was the old owner’s pictures. She’s not around anymore. She passed away in a fire years ago, but before she died when she sold the place, she told the new owner not to ever change the decor because it would take away from the building and the new owner agreed.
Andy: Interesting… Thanks for your help.
~*~ Back to Reality.~*~
~*~ Back to Reality.~*~
Essex: Hello Andy? Is there anybody home?
~*~ Andy snaps back out of his trance. Andy sits back up and fits his suit jacket. Andy leans into the microphone.~*~
Andy: Sorry, the bright lights are messing with me… and my hearing…
~*~ The crowd chuckles at Andy’s response. ~*~
Andy: Could you repeat the question again?
Fan #2: What is your game plan heading into Wrestle Wars with Chris Page?
~*~ Andy smiles and leans closer to the mic.~*~
Andy: Great question, but I can’t go into the game plan. Chris Page all ready has enough advantages going into the match so giving him an ideas of what I have planned for this match would just not benefit me in anyway…I’ve got to keep my cards close to my chest, just like in a game of Omaha… Omaha…Omaha… Omaha, Nebraska… Mom’s… favourite card game…
Essex: Andy are you all right?
~*~ Andy doesn’t answer as you can see the wheels turning in his head. Andy looks up and shouts.~*~
Andy: THAT’S IT!
Essex: What’s it?
Andy: Omaha, Nebraska!!!
~*~ Andy gets up immediately and bolts off the stage, leaving the crowd and everybody on the stage stunned. Andy runs passed Flash Rotten who tries to stop him but can’t. Andy dives back into his limo, panting and short of breath. He needs to stop as the dizziness from the concussion is kicking in.~*~
Andy: Not Now… NOT NOW….
Driver: Andy sir, where would you like me to take you?
~*~ Andy closes his eyes and tries to regain focus as his whole world is spinning…~*~
Andy: The… airport…
Driver: But sir, you have an autograph signing later on at the convention…
Andy: THE…… AIRPORT!!!
Driver: Okay sir.
~*~ The limo pulls away as the scene fades to black.~*~
~*~ Our scene reopens in Omaha Nebraska. Andy Johnson comes into view, he’s carrying a picture from the diner and his notepad. Andy walks into the information kiosk in the down town area. He looks around the kiosk for a moment, looking at the map and other attractions in Omaha. The lady wearing name tag reading “Debbie” comes up to Andy.~*~
Debbie: What are you doing in the great state of Nebraska young man?
Andy: Well, I’m looking for my mother. We haven’t seen each other in over 11 years.
Debbie: Oh my.
Andy: I agree. Only problem is, I don't know her address. I only know that she lives here in Omaha.
Debbie: What is her name? Did you look her up in the phone book?
Andy: I did, and she must have gone unlisted.
Debbie: Oh that’s too bad, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but finding one person anywhere could be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Andy: Well… I have this picture. Is this here in Omaha?
~*~ Andy shows her a the picture he is holding in his hands. Debbie examines the picture very closely. She takes it out of Andy’s hands and takes it up to the large map of Omaha. She looks back at the picture and then at the map.~*~
Debbie: This does look familiar. I think it’s out in the country part in this area. It is a very nice painting you have here though. The artist sure did know how to make a beautiful country house.
~*~ Debbie points to a general area on the map. Andy takes a picture of the general area of where Debbie is pointing with his cell phone. Debbie hands back the picture back to Andy.~*~
Andy: Thank you very much.
Debbie: I hope you find what you are looking for.
Andy: Me too!!
~*~ Andy walks out of the information kiosk and flags down a cab. Andy quickly hops into the cab and it drives out of sight.~*~
~*~ Our scene reopens again a very short time later as Andy Johnson is seen walking on a long dirt road, he has the picture painting in hand and is looking around trying to match the distance houses to the picture.~*~
Andy: I should have brought a pair of fucking binoculars. Jesus, these driveways are the lengths of four football fields.
~*~ Andy holds up the painting so that he can see the picture of the house and the real life. Andy squints at the picture and then back at the house. Andy now focusses on the real house more closely.~*~
Andy: Same colour as the painting… painting is when that house was a lot newer… Looks a bit older now… Owners built a fence. Who the hell are they trying to keep out, out in the middle of nowhere? Shit all of the places around here have walls. People in Nebraska are weird.
~*~ Andy looks at the ground and sees fresh tire tracks leading up the driveway. ~*~
Andy: Well… At least someone is home here. I guess I’ll start making the walk up the crazy ass driveway. Christ, don’t you think living this far our in the middle of no where you’d make your house next to the road. Crazy country folk.
~*~ Andy chuckles to himself as he starts the long walk up the dry dirt driveway. He makes his way up the driveway in good time only stopping to look at the amazing scenery around him and to catch his break and to help stop the dizziness. Andy gets to the top of the driveway. There’s only one car parked in the driveway. Andy passes the car and walks up onto the old sagging porch.~*~
Andy: Please be her, please be her, please be her…
~*~ Andy reaches up and puts his hand on the golden lion door knocker and knocks three times. Andy waits there nervously as he hears two voices in the house, followed by a slamming of another door. Andy hears footsteps inching closer and closer to the door he’s standing in front of and his heart and mind start to race a mile a minute. The door slowly opens…~*~
Andy: Mom?
“Andy?”
Andy: Mom?
~*~ The door opens and in the doorway stands Donna Johnson, in the living… Andy’s eyes start to well up with tears as for he cannot believe his eyes. She spreads her arms out and Andy immediately goes in and hugs his mother. He squeezes her tightly.~*~
Donna: I’m sorry…
Andy: Why? Why did you have to leave?
Donna: It’s a long story Andy… One for another time. Come in, sit. You don’t look well.
~*~ Andy walks over to the small kitchen table and sits down. He still can’t believe he is in the same room as his real biological mother. Andy’s mother brings over a glass of water and he quickly drinks it down.~*~
Donna: How? How did you find me Andy?
Andy: There’s been these guys after me for almost six months and they wanted to know where you were, like they knew you were alive… So the only thing I could think of to prove to these guys was to dig up your grave. I really thought I would find a corpse in there, but it was a mannequin, and an envelope, did you put that in there?
Donna: Uhhh, yes. Of course Andy. I thought you’d figure it out. It took you a lot longer than I thought. But I’m glad you did.
Andy: The letter said to find out the places your liked and the things you played with me as a kid. I went to the diner in Vegas, that you always took me to, it had this picture.
~*~ Andy shows Donna the picture of the farmhouse in Nebraska from the diner in Vegas.~*~
Donna: Shit…
Andy: I know right? So I asked the waitress where the picture was from, she said Nebraska. So that was clue number one, then Omaha… The only card game you ever wanted to play!
Donna: Shit… You figured it out. I knew you would connect the two eventually…
Andy: Whoa who is that? Someone is trying to climb over your fence out back!
Donna: What?
~*~ Andy races to the big bay window facing the rear of the house. Donna races to close the curtains for some reason but Andy stops her. Andy squints hard, but another episode of dizziness kicks in and he holds his head and groans.~*~
Andy: Fucking concussion bull shit.
~*~ Andy regains focus and sees the image of a man going over the fence. Andy looks at the back door and tries to go out it but Donna stops him in his tracks.~*~
Andy: Who was jumping your fence?! Are you being robbed?
Donna: Oh Andy. Not out here, that’s just my gardener Harry. One of the chickens must have gotten lose and he’s just going after him. Don’t be so paranoid!
Andy: Whew! I don’t know if you know, I became a pro wrestler mom! Crazy eh? Do you know what’s even MORE crazy…
Donna:……No
Andy: Somehow, you met Chris Page twenty three years or so ago, and had sex with him at least once…
Donna: Huh?
~*~ Donna is trying her best to look confused by Andy’s statements.~*~
Andy: That piece of shit turned out to be my father…. Did you know mom??
Donna: Andy… I never had a clue who your father was. And that’s the honest truth. Back in my wild day I would….
Andy: Who’s kids are those?
~*~ Andy states as he points to two children on an old rickety swing set.~*~
Donna: Those are the neighbours kids…
Andy: They came all the way over here…. To use a old shitty swing set?
Donna: Only swing set in miles Andy…
Andy: You are telling me those huge houses over there don't have swing sets?
Donna: Yes.
Andy: Cheap bastards! Well at least they have a nice neighbour that lets them use hers, even if it’s a big pile of shit.
~*~ Donna laughs nervously and smiles.~*~
Andy: Sorry for all the questions, but I still need to know… why? Why did you leave? I’ve had to fend for myself since you left.
Donna: Trust me Andy, it’s not what I wanted to do. Those men who were after you, they wanted us all dead. The only way to save you was by faking my own death.
Andy: You couldn’t have filled me in?
Donna: If I did that, we’d both be in the ground for real Andy. We both know that, knowing these people. I had to break off all contact with you because if I had stayed in Vegas, they would have found out and it would have been bad. Real bad. That’s why I left the clue Andy. I know I didn’t hide it in the most obvious spot, but you found it and now you are here!! I’m glad to see you grew up to make something of yourself!!
Andy: Thanks mom. I don’t like what you did, but I get it. You were only looking out for me in the long run. All these years were hard, but maybe this could be the light after all the years of darkness. Seeing that Chris Page is my father and how that turned out into a nightmare, I need a little bit of light in my life right now. He beat me bad mom, they don’t want me to wrestle again, but I have to. I can’t let him win, I can’t let him walk out of this unscathed. It’s time he pays for what he’s done to me and even to you.
Donna: Me?
Andy: Yeah you! He almost took me away from you without you even knowing.
Donna: You are right Andy. Thank you.
Andy: Come to Wrestle Wars! Come be in the crowd, see what your son has become against the man that made me who I am, for better or for worse, he is my father, and it’s time he gets what he deserves.
Donna: Andy I can’t go in public… You know why…
Andy: WGWF, has the best security around and besides, you stayed hidden for this long, what’s one night of being out? They aren’t going to mess with us. Please, it would mean a lot to me.
~*~ Donna takes a big sigh and closes the blinds and sits at a sectional couch. She puts her hands on her face and leans back. She slowly drags her hands over her face and looks at Andy.~*~
Donna: Lets go make him pay Andy.
~*~ Andy has a smile from ear to ear. Andy hugs his mother again!~*~
Andy: I’ll talk to my guys at WGWF, I’ll have them send you in a private jet! No one will know who you are. We will keep it really low key. I’ve got to get back to Atlanta before I get fired before the biggest show of my life. I love you mom.
Donna: I love you too…Son.
~*~ Andy hugs Donna one more time before he gets up and leaves out the front door. Donna watches him walk down the long dusty driveway until he is out of sight. She goes back to the table where the painting picture of the Page Farmhouse lay on the table. She picks it up and runs her hand over it… Then she throws it up against the wall as the glass frame shatters and the picture hits the ground. She goes over to a safe lock box and puts in a quick combination, she opens the grey safe door and pulls out a very old cell phone. She quickly dials a number.~*~
Donna: He’s gone now…. Yes he bought it…. Yes, he asked me to come to Wrestle Wars, just like you said the idiot would… I’m not sure if I like this idea Chris…. No….. No… No you’ve never been wrong about anything…. Alright, I guess I’ll go pack… He’s sending a private plane, can he even do that the moron?? Okay great,….. I’ll see you soon then.
~*~ Donna hangs up the phone, she pulls out a hammer from the safe and smashes the cellphone before putting it into the trash. She walks over to the now broken frame that lays scattered all over ground. She stomps on the picture as the scene fades to black.~*~
The Promo: All or Nothing
Wrestle Wars weekend is finally here. This is the match of my life and I’m going to have give the performance of my life to pull this one out, I already know that. I don’t need everybody to remind me how good Chris Page is because I’ve seen it and worse, I’ve felt it. I’ve felt what this man can dish out, but there’s one thing that Chris seems to be forgetting… I can take it. He thought when he attacked me months ago that this would be the end of our story, but in reality, it has only really been the beginning. He’s awoken a sleeping giant, he’s has woken up all my inner demons and now it’s time for CCP to meet them all.
Since the brutal attack, this match is all I can think about. I’ve never had something consume my mind like this match. Every minute of every day for the past two fucking months has been thinking about this day… Wrestle Wars. For a while, I didn’t think it was going to happen because of all the injuries, all the set backs… But somehow we convinced the WGWF to happen even if it’s not in my best interest to step into the ring with Chris Page again. Hopefully this time the son of a bitch will let me get to the ring and not take me out from behind like he did the first time.
Chris can all give us a history lesson about how great he’s been at all the previous Wrestle Wars. But this one will top them all. This is THE match that everyone is paying to see. This match is the most anticipated matchup in Wrestle Wars history and maybe even in Chris Page’s career and that’s saying something with all the clashes he’s been in. The word grudge match comes to mind, but I don’t even think the word grudge is severe enough. This is more than just a little grudge. This is a war… and how fitting its taking place called Wrestle Wars, because up to now Chris Page has been winning a lot of the battles between us, but he’s not going to win the war.
I find it somewhat amusing slash pathetic that you continue to play the victim card in all of this. I really do. It’s amusing because no one besides yourself and your circus clown friends like MDK, Alyce and the royal ass wipes believe it to be true. And it’s pathetic that a grown man who finds out that someone is their son and somehow they are the victim. Did you go through twenty three years of not knowing you had a son?
Nope…
Did you grow up wondering what I was like?
Nope…
Did you… GROW UP…. not knowing if you’d ever meet??
NOPE…..
Welcome to my personal hell Page. Yeah, the last year… YEAR… of your life might have been a living hell, but try living twenty three of them NOT KNOWING WHO YOUR DAD WAS. And when ya do figure it out, what should be a dream, turns into a fucking nightmare in less than a year. So the only violin you’ve been playing, is the sad fucking song of “oh poor Chris Page”. Fuck you dude, while I was out looking for you, you were doing what? Oh shit that’s right. Livin’ it up, wrestling all around the world, making millions while I bounced around from house to house all around the state of Nevada, making NO money
Fate would have it that I stumbled into YOUR WORLD, and now your world… is becoming mine. Even though you are my dad, it’s clear to see that I did inherit some of your fucking skills believe it or not. It only took a little bit of coaching from you and I took off like a rocket. And just as much as you were proud of me, I was just as much grateful for all that you did for me. Now I can’t wait to show you what new tricks I have up my sleeve for you. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree Page, and you’ll see that at Wrestle Wars when I beat you at your own games. I know that’s hard for you and everybody else out there to believe it. But don't believe the hype, believe what you see in that ring when that bell sounds and it’s just you and I. No more sneak attacks, no more time for talk, it won’t be about you being my dad, its about proving to you that I’m a man, and you can’t stop me no matter how hard you try.
Trust me, you can’t hurt me anymore than you all ready have so you know what… Bring it. I don’t give a fuck. There’s nothing you can do or say to me anymore, the damage has already been done and now I’m numb.
You’ve made me into who I am my whole life, from not being there, to now trying to end my career. I am your creation and you have no idea what you have made. You’ve made me into a much stronger man than you could ever be, and a tougher one as well. Just think about that Page. In one year you’ve turned me into a hardened, tough, son of a bitch who wanted this match more than anything I’ve wanted in the world. When I get your shoulders down to the math and pin you for the one, two, three…
