The scene fades in…
Welcome to Omaha, Nebraska…
Perhaps the single most boring place on the face of the planet… yet it has become a place in which to hide in plane site. Our scene opens as a we’re in the passenger seat of a car pulling down a long gravel driveway with the sounds of gravel popping under the tires as they roll over it can be heard.
The farmhouse had once been the residence of my grandparents and sat proudly on the crown of the hill. It was an enormous block of a building in every shade of grey. The facades had carvings and a prettiness no other abode had other than the mansions that were walled off a couple of miles away or so.
The car comes to a smooth stop before the engine is shut off. The driver’s door opens and closes as we now fade outside to reveal Chris Page in a pair of jeans, black boots, with a red flannel shirt that’s tucked in. He walks to the front porch Chris wrapped on the brassy door-knocker, the lion's head both golden and dark in the creases. As he stood waiting he took in the doorway, double wide and over tall. It the house had been built to impress then it was mission achieved.
The house wore the color of unfinished wood, weathered for countless years by harsh elements and baked by the hot summer sun a deep, rich copper striped with hearty gold. The wood itself cracked, warped and twisted by a shrinking grain here and there and wore the stains, at predictable intervals, of rusty nails that held it fast. That old relic of a farmhouse spoke volumes about hardships and hope, strength and vulnerability -- a rich history, determined present, and a hopeful future. It faced the world proudly and defiantly with a rusted tin roof and a sagging porch. Although no one would ever describe that old house as magnificent, its rugged, frontier charm somehow harmonized with the breathtaking scenery surrounding it, a large part to King’s Hill that’s mountain’s peaks are om the distance.
Chris takes a deep breath before opening the front door where he walks through the double door and into the house as he’s heard stating in a louder tone.
CHRIS PAGE- “DADDY’S HOME!”
The pattering of feet running down some wood stairs followed by the sounds of a younger female voice.
“DADDY!”
The scene fades into the farmhouse to reveal what appears to be an eleven year old girl reaching the bottom of the staircase where she jumps up into Chris’s arms. Elsewhere in the house another set of running feet can be heard followed by another voice, this time a young man.
“DAD!!”
A fourteen year old boy comes charging towards the front door way where he wraps his arms around his father.
CHRIS PAGE- “Hey guys!”
As we get glimpses around the interior of the house it’s worth noting that there’s no television in site nor cell phones or computers. The house is decorated simple from what we can see as off in the living room there’s a brown sectional couch, a gold floor lamp with a radio sound system which seems to be the only form of entertainment.
“Where have you been?”
The young child in his arms asks.
CHRIS PAGE- “Daddy’s been working, honey.”
Chris puts presumably his daughter back on the ground before shifting his attention towards his teenage son.
CHRIS PAGE- “You been holding things down for me?”
“Of course!”
The teenage boy replies.
Chris shifts his eyes all over the lower level of the house looking for someone else.
CHRIS PAGE- “Where’s your mother?”
Suddenly turning the corner from the kitchen is the long dark haired unknown female who appears to be more shocked to see Chris than the two children.
CHRIS PAGE- “Take your sister out back… your mother and I need to talk”
The teenage son takes his sister by the hand and walks back past their mother before disappearing with the sound from the wood of a screen doors shutting is heard.
“Why didn’t you call?”
CHRIS PAGE- “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t an emergency that I needed to see you to tell you.”
The female walks down the hallway towards Chris. We see Chris walk into the living room where he takes a seat on the sectional sofa followed by the female.
“You can’t just keep popping up, Chris; it’s not good for the kids.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Donna…”
Chris seriously states as he looks deep into the eyes of Donna.
CHRIS PAGE- “He knows.”
Donna’s eyes widen nearly as far as anyone’s possibly can as Chris continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “Andy knows.”
DONNA- “How? How is that possible?!? We planned everything down to the detail…”
Donna Johnson starts to get a little frantic as Chris reaches over taking her by the hand while stating.
CHRIS PAGE- “Calm down, calm down… It’s not going to benefit either one of us…”
He then states.
CHRIS PAGE- “It’s worse.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “Worse!”
She exclaims.
CHRIS PAGE- “He’s coming here.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “WHAT?!?!?!?!”
Donna Johnson completely loses her shit!
DONNA JOHNSON- “Explain to me how the son neither one of us wanted was smart enough to figure out we faked my death twelve years ago AND knows where I am?!!?!?!!??!!”
Donna gets up off the sectional sofa and starts pacing back and forth in the living room while she starts rambling.
DONNA JOHNSON- “Chris he can’t show up here! I don’t know what I would even say to him to cover this up! What about Carla and Jacob? They can’t know about him?! This can screw everything that we’ve worked for up!”
Chris gets up off the couch where he stops Donna from pacing back and forth across the floor. Chris grabs her by the shoulders as he looks directly into the eyes of Donna Johnson, mother of Andy Johnson.
CHRIS PAGE- “If you only knew what the fuck I’ve been dealing with over the last year you would see that this is the last place I want to be… but I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have a plan in place that can clear this entire thing up and nobody has any explaining to do to anyone.”
Chris softly states.
CHRIS PAGE- “We can’t change that he knows, he had the grave dug up… With that being said I have a way we can parlay this into ending that little shit once and for all.”
Chris seriously states.
CHRIS PAGE- “You tell him that you didn’t have a choice. He knows you were in Vegas and it would have been easy for you to have gotten caught up with the wrong crowd. We tell him that you didn’t have a choice…”
Donna starts to calm down as Chris softly explains to her the course of action.
CHRIS PAGE- “You’ll tell him that you’ve were put in protective custody or some shit. He’s going to want to reconnect with you and he’s going to want to know answers. He already knows I’m his father and knows your body wasn’t in the grave. How he knows I’m not sure, how he got this address I’m not sure but it’s not too late for us to fix this if we do it together.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “How do you propose we do this?”
CHRIS PAGE- “We can’t change what he knows but what we can do is exploit it to our advantage. When he gets here; and not to throw another curve ball at you, but that could be at any time… He’s going to want to reconnect; what kid wouldn’t? Welcome him in with open arms.”
Chris seriously states.
CHRIS PAGE- “Make him believe that YOU want a relationship with him, make him believe you haven’t had a choice in being relocated and I don’t care how you do it. He’s GOING to believe you because he wants to believe you. The kid is gullible and you can exploit it.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “I don’t know about all of this Chris… he won’t be stupid enough to fall for it.”
CHRIS PAGE- “Have you seen the kid lately? Smarts isn’t his claim to fame.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “Wait… how did he find you?”
CHRIS PAGE- “He showed up in the federation; I tried everything I could to keep him from finding out the truth but it just wasn’t meant to be.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “How long has he known?”
There’s hesitation from Chris Page before he answers.
CHRIS PAGE- “A year.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “A FUCKING YEAR!”
Donna exclaims.
DONNA JOHNSON- “A year and I’m just now finding out?!?! Don’t you think you could have told me; I don’t know, A YEAR AGO!”
Chris interjects.
CHRIS PAGE- “Again… I tried to keep him as far away from here as possible. I can’t control fucking everything!”
Chris exclaims.
CHRIS PAGE- “I’m doing the best I can here and all I’m asking you for is a little help. When he shows up all you got to do is make him believe you. If you do that he’ll invite you to Wrestle Wars… and you’ll show up. It’s then we lay the hammer down and end him once and for all.”
Chris gently places both of his hands on the backside of Donna’s neck drawing her in as their foreheads gently touch together as he states.
CHRIS PAGE- “I never thought it would come to this. Nobody ever wanted it to get this far but now we’ve crossed the point of no return. We both agreed that if it got to this point we would do whatever we needed to do to resolve the situation by any means necessary.”
Donna is heard.
DONNA JOHNSON- “I know.”
Chris continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “I have the chance to end this at Wrestle Wars once and for all but it’s going to take your help… and I’ll make sure that the job is done and it’s done legally so no responsibility falls on you.”
Chris draws back releasing the back of Donna’s head as he looks deep into her eyes as tears start to accumulate at corner of her eyes lids.
CHRIS PAGE- “If you’re having second thoughts then now is the time to say something.”
Chris waits for Donna who thinks for several long seconds before breaking her silence.
DONNA JOHNSON- “What needs to be done?”
CHRIS PAGE- “When he comes here and tells you everything that’s been going on if he doesn’t invite you to Wrestle Wars then invite yourself. Tell him you want to cheer him on as he attempts to slay me. He’ll jump all over that like stink on shit because in his eyes he WANTS to find you. Use his emotions against him, sucker him in and when the times is right at Wrestle Wars is when you’ll make your presence felt and he will never see it coming and in one night we will end him once and for all.”
Donna starts shaking her head at Chris while she states.
DONNA JOHNSON- “It all sounds way to simple. He’s got to be on to something more if he’s coming all this way to track me down.”
CHRIS PAGE- “He isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer and I’m willing to put money on it that he isn’t the one responsible for even finding any of this out. He’s like a rabbit you lead with a carrot or a puppet to a puppet master because someone is always pulling his strings. My point is that IF this is going to work you have to play your role to perfection and you have to make him invested in you that you want to correct all of it. I don’t care what story you come up with as to why we faked your death that’s where you get to be creative; I’ll tell you this, keep it simple and don’t over complicate it. When it comes to telling a lie such as this remember that less is more; the less you have to remember makes it easier to keep up with.”
Chris seriously states with a soft tone.
CHRIS PAGE- “This is the last thing we’re going to have to do and if we can pull this off I guarantee you that this will be last conversation we ever have on this subject.”
DONNA JOHNSON- “Let’s get it done.”
Suddenly there’s a loud knock heard coming from the front door. The attention of both Chris and Donna shift as they walk out of the living room and into the main hallway. Donna walks towards the door and peers through the peep hole before shifting her attention back towards Chris as she whispers softly.
DONNA JOHNSON- “It’s him.”
Chris whispers back.
CHRIS PAGE- “Time for you to go to work. I’ll slip out the back.”
Chris walks forward where he softly kisses Donna on the lips before disappearing out of view. There’s a second series of knocks coming from the other side of the door but Donna doesn’t open it until she hears the sound of the back screen door shut. Donna reaches for the front door handle where she turns it and starts opening the door as the scene fades.
TO BE CONTINUED BY ANDY JOHNSON.
Words from the Stoned One:
“This is it. “
The scene opens as Chris Page’s voice is heard and as we fade in we see Chris standing in front of the official Wrestle Wars Twelve back drop.
CHRIS PAGE- “All roads have lead us all to this one point in time and this one specific event known the world over simply as Wrestle Wars. For twelve years this federation has had its flagship event filled with a who’s who of talent within the wrestling world along the way; and while many have come and many have gone this will mark my seventh consecutive Wrestle Wars and the seventh consecutive time the one name that’s on the tips of the tongues of the WGWF Universe shall be Chris GODDAMN Page! “
There’s a smirk that appears on the face of Page as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “Before the verbal ass raping of one Andy Johnson begins let me talk to you all about my history within this spectacular event dating back to Wrestle Wars Five in Tokyo, Japan winning the World Title in the Main Event opposite Hunter Ryan and Nick Ryan? Or what about Wrestle Wars Six and vanquishing Rage? Or could we talk about Wrestle Wars Eight opposite MDK? How about opposite James Raven? Tristan Slater? Hunter? Do you see where I’m going with this? Outside of Nick Ryan each and every person I’ve danced with on the grandest stage of them all I’ve STOLE the show with regardless of where I am placed on the card or who was following me; that’s not by fucking design that’s all about talent!”
Exuding confidence with each word that rolls off his tongue he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “There’s no other event of the year that gives me goosebumps, there’s no other event in the year that I look forward to more than Wrestle Wars.
… And here we are.
Some people thought I was stupid giving up my World Title shot to my Queen in order to pursue my personal business because wrestling for the WGWF World Heavyweight Championship is what everyone on the roster wants, right? Wrong. Not me. I’ve been to that mountain top seven goddamn times, I’ve been in multiple Wrestle Wars Main Event’s and if I’m being perfectly honest with you it doesn’t really matter what the scheduled Main Event is because it’s not going to come close to what I do when over 85,000 fans jam pack the Mercedes Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta, Georgia just down the street from Badstreet USA, baby!”
Side bar.
If anyone catches the last reference you’re officially on my Christmas Card list.
I digress.
CHRIS PAGE- “And while wrestling for the World Title might be enough for some… ending the life of my son wets my whistle a little more.”
Chris states as his tone now shifts to that of more methodical as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “Hi Andy, miss me? Question. How does it feel knowing you’re entering the last professional wrestling show walking on your own accord? I only ask because I’m not really sure if you’re going to hear the sounds of your bones snapping over your blood curdling screams. You know, you’ll sound a lot like your mother when she gave birth to your sorry, pathetic ass! She should have listened to me and let me pay for the abortion because that would have been less time consuming and a hell of a lot cheaper than dealing with the eleven years of playing secret Santa and the sneaking behind your back to tap that ass.”
There’s some malicious giggling heard coming from Chris as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “She never wanted you to know who I was and I was perfectly fine with that because then much like now I never wanted to know who the fuck you were either. Let’s say for example that you weren’t my son.”
There’s a slight pause from Page.
CHRIS PAGE- “Let’s say that we had no relation at all, would I still be all over you like stank on shit? You’re fucking right I would! People seem to forget that there was a point in time when neither of us knew we are related. When you first entered this company you mistakenly signed the wrong contract, remember? You were trying to be on the ring crew yet ended up in the ring… and you got crushed. Our paths first crossed when you asked about someone training you, I was there. I took you under my wing and started showing you the ropes and suddenly one win turned into two wins, two turned into three and then you roll into the West Coast Rumble and put on a classic with Slater for the IC title in a match that wasn’t even supposed to be close.
… and for the first time as a guy that was training you, I was proud of you.”
Chris nods his head in approval before suddenly stopping as he intently glares into the camera.
CHRIS PAGE- “Enter Flash Rotten… Flash held the information about knowing who your father was over your head which lead to you losing your job only to get it back just one short year ago on this very stage… and while it was the happiest night of your life it was the WORST night of mine. You announced to the world, you announced to everyone including my now ex-wife who was ringside that I was your biological father. That one announcement, that one moment in time planted the seeds for what turned into the single best swerve I’ve ever thrown anyone at any point in time throughout my fucking career. It was that good, it was that bitterly sweet when the hammer was thrown down upon you. Initially I was on the fence with it… that was until Caged In rolled around. You remember what you did, right? Even after you ruined my life I still stood by your side and tried to maintain a relationship with you; you have no fucking clue how hard that inner struggle was… until you stuck your nose in MY World Heavyweight Championship match against the King, King MDK. You saw fit to interject and enter Hell in a Cell and you saw fit to clock me with the World Title! Regardless if it was intentional or not the point is that had YOU not put YOURSELF in that situation, a situation that nobody asked you get involved in nor wanted you involved in… YOU, Andy, you took it upon yourself to break my focus and cost me the one legitimate shot at settling an internal score with a guy that’s arguably my greatest in ring rival on the face of the planet. The moment you took matters into your own hands was the very moment you made my internal decision that I was oh so struggling with all too simple to make.”
Chris now shifts to a more softer, yet malicious tone.
CHRIS PAGE- “Imagine my surprise when I was leaving Caged In to be approached by OUR King and even more surprising was the proposition that was made to me. You see MDK played you Andy. He led the lamb to slaughter and slaughter is exactly what the fuck I did! Listen up and listen well you miserable sack of shit because play time is fucking over! Now the game shifts into an entirely different direction because your road to Wrestle Wars has been MY plan since day fucking one. Like the pied piper led rats through the street is how I’ve led you to here and now. All eyes are finally on ya kid! The bright lights, big stage, sold out stadium, the boys in the locker room, millions of people watching around the world are all solely focused on you and what YOU can bring to the table.”
There’s some soft laughter under the breath of Chris as he rotates his neck to the right cracking it before looking straight forward.
CHRIS PAGE- “I’m a proven commodity, Andy. I’m battle tested and war-fucking-approved so this little deal isn’t anything new to me. Stepping into battle where there are no rules, where there are no ramifications and where I will not be held personally responsible for someone else’s well-being isn’t anything more than a sign of relief because truth be told if it wasn’t already a Non-Sanctioned affair the city of Atlanta would be locking me up for homicide.”
Chris intently glares into the camera as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “Because you’re not going to have a pulse when I’m done shredding you apart piece by piece, limb by limb and body part by body part. What I’m going to do to you will make what Grim did to the Dark Shadow look like a goddamn tea party!”
The sheer malice in Chris’s voice is enough to give you goosebumps as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “Take a good look into these eyes…”
The camera pans in tighter on the cold blue eyes of Chris Page.
CHRIS PAGE- “You don’t see fear, you don’t see intimidation… What you do see when you look into these eyes is a man that has no soul, you see a man that has willingly played you like a fucking violin each and every step we’ve taken on our road to WrestleWars, you see a man that GAVE UP a shot at the World Title so that he could get his hands around your neck, you see a man that has no fear and you see a man that is going to take his boot and shove it so far up your ass you’ll be tasting toe jam for a week! This isn’t a game anymore Andy, this is real life and when you fuck around with real life you have real life repercussions to deal with. I’m that repercussion and I’m going to do everything BUT take it easy on you the moment you’re standing across the ring from me in Atlanta, Georgia.”
Chris takes a moment to gather his thoughts once again before he continues without seemingly missing a beat.
CHRIS PAGE- “I will tell you that it takes a lot of balls to willingly ask for a Non-Sanctioned match against me when you’re walking in at anything but one hundred percent.”
Chris nods his head forward several times before stopping as he continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “You took a beating under the false pre-tense that I would beat some sense into you but clearly you’re just as hard headed as your mother; speaking of your mother, have you found her yet? I mean you’ve gone through this entire deal from digging up her grave and finding out there’s nothing inside the coffin and I would imagine if you’ve gotten that far you’ve trailed further down the rabbit hole to see just how far it leads; I digress, you took a beating thinking that you’d smarten up and walk away why you still could… but now it’s entirely too late.”
The camera pans back getting a better shot of the upper body of Chris Page who continues.
CHRIS PAGE- “The wheels have already been set into motion and this dramatic story is going to take yet another turn and it’s one that not even you can see coming and it’s a swerve that is going to leave you with your jaw dropped, your blood shed and your career ended. You might be walking into this as a sentimental favorite, you might have all the boys behind you, you might have all the fans rallied behind you… but at the end of the day when the dust settles and the smoke clears not only will you be drinking the rest of your meals through a straw but you’ll be about ten pounds lighter as I take away the only other thing that makes you relevant… the WGWF Television Championship.”
Chris once again intently looks into the lens as he states.
CHRIS PAGE- “I want you to remember this as you’re once again laid up in a hospital bed unconscious with machines keeping you alive that I never wanted to go down this road but YOU left me no other choices. Enjoy the last few days while you can because it’s the last few days that won’t be spent in immense and total pain.”
The scene slowly fades to black.
