"Hey Amber! I need your help. Mia and I will be away from our home in Las Vegas because we want to party! Honestly, we want a break and some vacation time. We'd appreciate it if you could babysit Gia while we are away. We'd only be gone not too long, but make sure she's okay and the house is yours! Just no parties, and yes, I'm saying no partying! Enjoy!"โJoe Mountori.
The home of the Montouris was nothing to be ashamed of. Las Vegas, Nevada. The mansions many believed they could have in their dreams or designed in their minds were only limited to the elite tier of socioeconomic residents in the world. The Montouris had increased their wealth since their affiliation with WGWF's return, establishing their ranks as one of the most prominent families in the business. However, they were still a family, and being away from their baby daughter was hard, but Amber had no family anymore since her father passed away. The life of the Mansleys had crumbled down, leaving her to be the sole heir to their fortune until her stepmother filed for contention of the will, but Joe's ties to Amber had gone beyond business. They've developed an understanding together to be more of brother and sister without blood.
Inside the beautiful home, the mansion was of modern architecture over a hillside surveying the sin city's nightlife from a fair distance. Only those beyond the limits of humanity could afford such a luxurious monarch of modern mode interior design as the silver light strips on the roof in the living room where Amber was holding Gia in her arms on the couch, illuminating their soulful presence. She continued holding Gia's presence in her arms as the full moon descended across the night skies and leaned on the couch pillow, watching videos on the massive bright screen of kid shows and songs.
The instructions were clear on the baby's bedtime, food, medication, and what to do in times of emergency. Amber had decent experience handling children, but he was volunteering during her marketing campaigns. However, she loved Gia as she was a clean slate brought into the world. The white couch was comfortable inside this large foyer of artwork, intelligent screens, a silvered table in the middle,e, and portraits of their family everywhere.
"You doing okay?" Gia smiled and sucked her pacifier. Amber's greenish eyes were glued to Gia's eyes. The innocence. Purity and warmth. How could such a small living creature invoke a giant amount of happiness in another person? Is this what her father felt when Amber was born?
She sighed. She didn't want to think about it, but having a child changes your perspective. She understood why Joe fought with his life and did the things he did. It wasn't to protect his ego; it was to protect Gia. Although many criticized his actions and methods, it was with pure intentions to ensure his child grew up with the best future possible.
That is why she would do the same to protect herself from fraudulent men such as Hanari Carnes.
"Let's get you something to eat." The alert on her phone instructed Mia's input that it was time to feed the child. She gently wrapped Gia in her blanket and stood up in her pink Balenciaga onesie pajamas, holding her steady as she walked through the halls to the large kitchen. It almost mimicked that of a five-star restaurant kitchen. Still, as she walked around the long counter housing the electric stove tops and dining area, she opened the left door of the double-door fridge after looking at a digital picture of the Montouris. Inside the refrigerator were a couple of bottles of breastmilk secured by her mother for Amber to feed Gia. Once the door was closed, she walked upstairs with Gia and her bottled milk inside the child's bedroom.
Gia's room could be that of a studio itself. Her room was designed to be a fortress. Amber shook her head but chuckled, never amazed since entering the room to understand how gigantic it was. The Montouris loved their extravagant lifestyle, but she appreciated how everything was always tied to family. Honestly, she couldn't understand how someone below him, such as Carnes, had a lot to criticize when he was derived from a country that portrays the family as backstabbers and low-life thugs.
Having Gia in her arms invoked this hidden motherly instinct that she wanted to destroy him in the main event of Smash. It was boiling in her blood to even believe he could understand the way of The Fortunate Ones.
Amber walked over to a bit of beanbag chair and gently sat down, caressing the child in her arms. She gently removed the pacifier from Gia's lips, and she was about to cry when she gently placed the tip of the bottle's end in the child's mouth to have her feed on the milk.
"You are so cute." She couldn't help it. As her eyes wandered around the room, it was clear that this child was cared for. It reminded her of her father.
Even though she wasn't his best daughter, she loved her unconditionally.
Unconditional love. It was a powerful force many couldn't hold themselves to. Her father unconditionally loved Amber, but she repaid him with foolery and arrogance. A mistake that would haunt her for the rest of her life,e, but she was ready to atone by making him proud. The only way she knew how was to continue to be the best wrestler she could be, and being a champion certified that for her.
"You know I once lived in a room like this. My dad was wealthy and so happy when he found out mom was pregnant." She chuckled again. Come to think of it, she hasn't expressed her true feelings about her biological mother, especially after she did. Amber looked up at the ceiling designed with stars and princesses. Mia was always passionate about her shows and fantasy stories for her daughter, but every child's dream was to live in a fantasy. After all, a child's mind unlocks imaginations beyond compare.
"I barely remember my mother. I was young when she died. Father said it was of natural causes, but I always thought differently when my stepmom came into the picture. Eva. That was her name, Eva. She was beautiful. A great woman and an excellent mom. I miss her daily and would give anything to have her again." She nodded, and Gia kept sucking on the bottle. "I don't talk about her a lot. I should, but it's hard. You have people in this world who see what you want and want to take everything from you at their ego being stroked. People who believe they are like you and can understand what you're going through, but in the end, they're just fake."
Her breath trembled under the shaky whisper after the anger was coming to a rise in her soul, but it wasn't towards her past but to her future. Hanari's presence beside her name made her want to rip him apart. He was nothing compared to the bigger picture. The child in her arms was motivation enough for her to remain champion, but she breathed to keep her composure and stared into the babe's eyes, returning to hers.
"I'm tired of pretending people can speak about what we are. Your father and mother are two amazing people, and they deserve this. People in our workplace think differently and will do whatever they can to destroy them. I won't let that happen. They're family to me, and you're family to me, too." She smiled. "Right now, there's something I have to do, and the woman in the family is trying to try my legacy, but another man believes he knows my life. He doesn't, but let me tell you a story, Gia."
Amber slowly stood up from the beanbag after the baby had finished her meal. She gently placed the empty bottle on the nightstand next to the child's crib,, put the baby on her bed,, and wrapped the blankets. Gia made a couple of sounds of a cute purpose, trying to communicate with Amber as she was mouthing to the ceiling. Amber noticed a switch next to the crib and pressed it to make the stars shine and the lights dim, illustrating cosmic art.
"Joe, you are something else." She laughed, knowing he would know something above and beyond. However, she looked down at Gia and rubbed her finger across her cheek, comforting her. "This is a story about a man who is a fraud. The biggest fear for a man who thinks he's an alpha is a woman who will turn him into a beta."
When you grow up to be a strong independent woman, you will meet a type of man who will believe that you're nothing because you don't have a cock between your legs. These men try to pretend that they are of the elite, the highest caliber of humanity, but the truth is they are boys locked away in a fully grown adult body with fragile egos. They use big words they don't understand, waste their money on things without understanding how they work, and also try to convince you that they are superior simply because you'll be a woman.
It's unfair. Your father has been criticized as one of them, but look at what he does. He cares for you, Mia, and even welcomes me as family. Men like him remind me of my father.
But men like Hanari are pathetic and worthless.
Her eyes flicker in anger and penancing evil at mentioning his name. She remembered their encounter when she used the brass knuckles to break his submission hold, and she almost lost to him. It infuriated her knowing he was this close to submitting her, but she refused to allow that to happen again.
Gia. Hanari Carnes is what I call a fraud. He has this belief that I don't understand him when the truth is I don't need to. Hanari is like every other man who has tried to deter me from what I know, and that is, I am the best damn wrestler on the Smash brand.
In all honesty, he should be thanking me. For the first time in his glorious career, he has finally reached the main event, and that's because Jonathan Barrows decided to hand him a charity case. He wasn't even supposed to be facing me for the X-Division Championship because the last time I checked, Kenji Miyamoto defeated him at WrestleWars. Yet, Jonathan loves to do everything he can to destroy The Fortunate Ones.
It's sad. Really.
But what makes me angry is Hanari's arrogance; who only walked in here trying to convince everyone he's the next messiah to save us all. Hanari is pathetic. He doesn't understand how the business works, and no matter how hard he tries to dramatize my life, he completely misses the mark and shows the world he's a coward. Rather than facing me as a man to a woman, he's off in the Dominican Republic pretending to be on this charade that I don't belong in the ring with him.
She leaned over the crib, placing her arms on the edge. Amber rested her chin on her hands and watched Gia unravel in her energy before yawning. She was ready to sleep, so Amber gently placed her on a pillow and tucked her in. Another bed was made near her crib so she could be prepared if Gia woke up crying.
Gia. I'm going to murder him. When we enter that ring, he will do the one thing he's never done to a woman. I'm going to make him submit.
His biggest fear is me embarrassing his little frail ego in front of the entire world. He's a grown-up about bravado, fortune, and putting everyone else down below him when he fails to see the hypocrisy that he is the scum of the Earth.
He's from a third-world country whose economic dollars can't match mine, and yet he surrounds himself with men who are doing his work, waiting to stab him in the back, and cheap prostitutes who use him for a bang for his buck. Hanari has no morals, intelligence, or compass for success, but he thinks he can beat me for the X-Division Championship.
This man can't even insult me. He tries to belittle me. He's worried about the wrong things, so I will make him tap out. I've been an X-Division Champion longer than anyone in WGWF, and I'm the Fortunate One who will ensure this stable will destroy everyone in our way. Gia, your father, revealed his partnership with Chris Page, meaning we now hold the cards to everything.
Will I surrender that to a man who can't even look past his shades?
Amber stroked Gia's chin again, and Gia was on the verge of slumbering. She spoke in a whispered tone to soothe her.
I will never surrender to a man such as Hanari. He thinks I will be one of the dead streetwalkers when he doesn't realize he's the one walking into my territory. WGWF is mine, the Smash brand is mine, and the X-Division Championship is mine.
He may have had a confidence boost from our last match, but he foolishly disrespects The Fortunate Ones. His mistake was thinking that the protection from my family was his advantage. The truth is that now I can focus on breaking every bone of his body. I will cancel him and hear him scream for mercy. He can focus on my finishers and relationship with The Fortunate Ones, make fun of my looks, and repeat the same insults everyone has.
The Fortunate Ones remain strong, and we continue to dominate. I continue to dominate. I continued to prove all the naysayers wrong the moment I became X-Division Champion, defended the championship, and also proved to the entire world that I am just more than some blonde bimbo. I am the benchmark for all women in this company to follow. No other person outside The Fortunate Ones can even come close to what I have done in this company.
Hanari? He's nothing. He's not even a contender, considering Kenji Miyamoto has that over him, and even Ezra Gideon managed to earn his opportunity. He's a basket case given a charity hand-out from Barrows, and it shows that he couldn't even afford to come close to me. I am the reason he has worth in this company, but it's okay, Gia because we girls won't have to worry about men like him anymore. The times have changed, and now the alpha woman has stepped out to knock his fragile little ego down. Sweet dreams, love.
Amber leaned over the crib and stroked the child on her head. She walked to the doorframe and took one last look as Gia slept quietly and peacefully. After closing the door very slowly, Amber descended the staircase and through the kitchen, passing through the glass doors to be on the balcony overseeing the view of Las Vegas. The city was an artificial galaxy of lights and music, especially as she stood before the balcony walls, looking upward at the stars and the moon. Amber stared ahead to the scenery, and the grip on the bars was tightened.
Hanari. I know you're out there. You're in some fancy club with a VIP section to yourself and your groupie of pathetic men dressed in terrible designer clothing. You're blowing cocaine on a stripper, flashing your money, and telling all your friends you will be the new X-Division Champion. A long time ago, Montouri and I would be there, but as you can see, we have a higher purpose to fight for.
You? What do you have? Do you have any family that means anything to you? Are you willing to fight for a higher cause?
No. You're just a blind, lucky man who a jealous general chose manager. Don't try to convince yourself that you're the answer to The Fortunate problem. You're a mediocre wrestler at best, with the most pathetic attempt to mimic what we are in this company.
All that money you have is nothing compared to us. Your talents and skills are minuscule, as you weren't even needed for War Games. I am the reason you are alive in this company, and I'll be damned as if I allow some pathetic Don Julio wannabe waltz into my company, pretend that brand is his and the championship I hold in my hands fall into your grasp when you are too pathetic to prove yourself.
When Smash comes, the main event will overwhelm you. You do not have the it factor to lead us, nor do you have the will to beat me because deep down inside, you fear me. I am everything you want to be, and simply because I'm a woman, it kills you inside.
Well, guess what? Take the knife and dig it into your heart. I don't care what you do. All I know is that I want to watch you tap and beg for mercy at the hands of a blonde woman you think would end up dead on the streets.
Amber slowly turns around and leans against the balcony wall. She returns to the kitchen, and the X-Division Championship belt rests on the countertop. Amber picked it up and stared at her reflection on the golden plate.
And also, Hanari, my finisher's name is "Canceled."
And that's what's going to happen to you when I deport your ass in a goddamn box.
