“When people ask me who Edward Grado is, it’s a question that has a pretty complex answer.”
The scene opens with a shot of Edward Grado jogging in a pair of Daisy Duke running shorts, a white tank top, a red headband around his head. The sun beats down on top of Edward as he talks over the montage.
EDWARD GRADO- “If you’re name is Seth Stevens he’ll have you believe that I’m nothing, or that I don’t deserve to be inside a ring.”
Edward then states as the scene flashes to Grado inside a ring working on his in-ring game.
EDWARD GRADO- “And some people might agree with that notion. It’s not like I’ve done a lot to prove otherwise since I arrived in the WGWF. My cousin hadn’t been around in months, my tag team partner left me hanging high and dry, and my nephew was nowhere to be seen. I am a lost sheep that is without a flock.”
Edward Grado locks up with someone unknown and takes a side headlock.
EDWARD GRADO- “In a world alone I have no one but myself to rely on. Seth, you tried to take me out; and you came pretty close when you put my head between that steel chair and tried to break my neck.”
The scene fades as we see Edward being loaded up on a stretcher with a neckbrace secured around his neck from that fateful addition of Monday Night Smash which cost Edward the last several months of his career.
EDWARD GRADO- “The problem with that, Seth.”
The scene cuts to Edward Grado standing in front of a stationary camera.
EDWARD GRADO- “You didn’t get the job done.”
Edward continues.
EDWARD GRADO- “You were ready to write me off and waltz into the Bloodbath Championship match at WrestleWars, but instead I used your moment to fuel my comeback. Seth, you’ve been accused of having a few screws loose. You’ve claimed that you represent true anarchy… but honestly, you haven’t done anything but lose since Monday Night Smash has become a thing, and when you think about your actions toward me are actions of a man so desperate for some piece of attention because you can’t get it between those ropes where it matters. I’m not walking into WrestleWars to wrestle you, Seth… I’m entering the grandest stage to fight you! No fanny packs, no jokes, no fun or games…”
We cut away to Seth Stevens invading Edward’s home with Edward's voice heard under the cutaways.
EDWARD GRADO- “You entered my home, Seth. You’ve taken this to levels it didn’t have to go, but your levels of insecurities mixed with your vanity of being one of the guys that built this place up some fifteen years ago. If you wrestle now as you did then there’s a reason your highest level attained was an Intercontinental Championship that you held because there wasn’t anyone else to hold it. That’s not talent, that’s politics.”
We fade to a Ladder Match between Nick Ryan and Seth Stevens from 2011 for the WGWF World Title. Nick Ryan nears the top of the Ladder with Seth Stevens nowhere in sight.
EDWARD GRADO- “You’ve had several attempts to elevate your game to the next level, and every time you’ve had that opportunity… You’ve choked.
Nick Ryan is shown pulling down the WGWF World Heavyweight Championship.
EDWARD GRADO- “You’re the king of making excuses or putting the blame on others instead of looking yourself in the mirror and understanding that when push comes to shove you’re nowhere near the level of talent you want everyone to believe.
The scene cuts to Edward Grado standing in the middle of the ring which is surrounded by a Steel Cage. Edward holds out his arms as he states.
EDWARD GRADO- “This is our battleground. It’s a place you’ve probably been to a time or two in your career, and some might think I’m nuts for allowing the Steel Cage to be the judge.
Edward lowers his arms as he walks toward the camera that is positioned on the other side of the mesh of the Cage.
EDWARD GRADO- “You are going to pay for your sins, Seth. You are going to man up and get inside this Cage with me; but don’t get it twisted, you’re not getting in the Cage with Grado… You are in this war with Edward.
Edward reaches into his pocket and pulls out a white plastic bag. Edward reaches into the bag pulling out a tomato.
EDWARD GRADO- “And I’ve been waiting for this moment. Why? Because you fucked around and now you’re going to find out.”
Edward begins to run the tomato across the mesh of the cage splitting the tomato and sending juices dripping toward the lens of the camera.
EDWARD GRADO- “The sheer feeling of taking your head and running it across the mesh of this cage is something that does more than tickle my fancy. It gives me purpose, and the last thing you’re going to realize is that you thought I was easy prey… but you’ve made the cardinal mistake of waking me up. Dallas, Texas… WrestleWars… Consider this the beginning of your end. You are going to bleed, you are going to be forced to look at yourself in the mirror and admit the same thing J Mont had to accept.. You’re not better than me… You tried to hunt what you can’t kill.”
Edward intently gazes down at the camera as the scene fades.
I’ve had nothing but time to think about what I want to do and how I want to do it when it comes to dealing with Seth Stevens because I’m not going to be his doormat. The harsh truth is Seth put hard times on me, not only did you try to end my career, not only did you break into my house, but you glossed right over me trying to use me to put yourself in the Bloodbath Division. Tisk, tisk, tisk. You seem to forget that my track record in this company has been better than yours since you returned.
I mean, have you even pinned anyone?
Because I have, right J Mont? It’s funny to me that guys like you and Mont try desperately to wave around some big dick energy but when they turn the lights on we find millimeter Peters. For the last eight weeks I’ve had to sit at home and watch this road to WrestleWars take place from a distance because YOU tried to end me, but you failed. You took your shot and missed. Now it’s time for me to take my shot but what you’re going to find out is I don’t miss when it comes to something I give a shit about.Trust me when I say I give a lot of shits when it comes to embarrassing you on the biggest stage under the brightest lights without the aid of family or friends. I understand that stepping inside a Cage isn’t going to be for the weakened heart, and some of you might think that with this being the first time I’ve been surrounded by Steel that I might have put myself at a disadvantage or maybe I’ve put my own back against the wall.
Mama Grado called me earlier this week and voiced her concerns.
I get it.
But sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. I want this more than I wanted anything else in my life because Seth’s actions punked me out, and sure he might have played me into this thing as I’m sure he’s going to try and spin it. If that is the case then he shouldn’t be concerned with what I’m GOING to do to him when that door is slammed shut and locked leaving us to settle this once and forall. You’re not going to jump me from behind, you’re not going to have this handed to you. You’re going to have to earn it, which is something you haven’t done since you walked back through those doors.
“Hello”
Grado’s voice is heard as we open to find Edward sitting in a bubble bath with a shower cap covering his head and a rubber duck floating on top of the water amidst the bubbles.
GRADO- “DADDY!”
Edward puts the call on speaker as we hear the voice of Sam Chatman on the other end of the line.
SAM CHATMAN- “Not again.”
Sam scoffs over the phone to the degree you can imagine he’s rolling his eyes.
SAM CHATMAN- “Listen, I wanted to give you a call because I know WrestleWars is right around the corner…”
GRADO- “It is.”
SAM CHATMAN- “I saw what Seth did, and I wanted to call and wish you the best of luck. I know that this is something you must do… but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I was concerned. A Steel Cage isn’t anything nice to play with.
Edward cuts off Sam.
GRADO- “I know what I’m getting into. What Seth and everyone is going to witness is something that they’ve never witnessed before when it comes to me. I’m going to WrestleWars for one purpose, one goal… Spill Stevens blood.
SAM CHATMAN: That’s a piece of why I wanted to call you because the last thing you need to do is go into this acting of emotions. I know he almost ended your career, I know he tried to play mind games with you… but I’m telling you that you need to roll into this level headed.
Edward splashes around in the tub.
SAM CHATMAN- “What the hell are you doing?”
GRADO- “Soaking in the tub.”
SAM CHATMAN- “AND TALKING TO ME!?!?!”
GRADO- “You called.”
SAM CHATMAN- “You could have called me back!”
GRADO- “To be fait… It IS kinda arousing.”
SAM CHATMAN- “For fucks sake.”
GRADO- “Keep going.”
You hear a dial tone before a slick smile graces Edward’s face.
GRADO- “Works every time.”
The scene fades as Edward semerges himself under water.
