WEEKLY REVIEW
Ragnarok had a sour taste in his mouth. It wasn't the fact he lost to Seth Stevens but the way it happened. The little weasel outsmarted Ragnarok and forced a count out. The legendary warrior knew that Stevens would probably brag about the victory like it was something to write home about. Truth was though it only opened the flood gate for Seth Stevens. It was time for him to look over his shoulder and around each corner because Ragnarok considered this far from over and would be seeking revenge at some point. However, knowing that he didn't dwell in the past at this moment he shifted his focus to the present.
Ragnarok: Seth Stevens, do you really think the fans of this amazing company care about your victory? Absolutely not. What they do care about is me being screwed out of a victory from someone less then a man. I'm sure your feelings will be hurt but you see I used to be you. Taking the coward way out and getting victories however I could but then I realized that the feeling of a victory in the middle of the ring hearing the referee hand hit the mat three times is such a high that I crave it more each week. I say that because the man known as Seth Stevens is still a fraction of himself. Your name used to be fearful in this company and you enjoyed humiliating people in the ring but now you cut corners because I was dominating you and you got scared of your reputation. This isn't the last you've heard from me I promise you that. I have connections that run deep to make you pay for your mistake.
Memories
As the sun cracked the horizon Ragnarok sat on his porch continuing to think about his past. The world was starting to shift in favor of him. It was still a weird feeling to process, but it brought a smile to his face. It reminded him of his first moments inside a wrestling ring. He was in middle school and the gym teacher wanted to teach everyone the ropes of sports entertainment. The teacher would go around the class asking everyone who was the biggest role model that inspired them to take the class. However, none of them seemed to understand the question the same way as Ragnarok. So as the teacher leaned down on one knee looking him in the eye he asked "Who inspires you?" The young child who was struggling to find a place to be accepted looked his teacher in the eyes and smiled.
Young Ragnarok: No one! I inspire myself.
The teacher was disappointed in the answer but understood the reaction. It was a story the teacher had seen before knowing the history of this young boy he decided to not give up on him like the others. In fact, he had a plan for the young man. Ignoring those thoughts during class. Instead, he focused on teaching all the young men and women the proper way to compete. Showing them it is about having fun and not worrying about the result. However, when it came time for the young Ragnarok to get in the ring, it seemed a natural fit. He stood on the apron looking at his teacher with a smile. He went through the ropes and walked up to him.
Young Ragnarok: Give me your most creative suggestion and let's battle it out right here.
He enjoyed the confidence of the young boy as he looked up and then back down.
Teacher: I like the confidence boy. Maybe there is something inside you after all. Let me train you in a way that most people could never imagine. You will overcome adversity. You will be taught dedication and loyalty. All you have to do is beat me in a match right here in front of the class.
The young boy was shocked by the request. How stupid could the teacher be not realizing that he grew up having a fist fight every night with someone. Stranger or family he knew how to defend himself. However, or this day he would unleash the power buried inside him. It was one that allowed him protection in the right way. It would give him a freedom to express himself in a safe environment.
Young Ragnarok: No problem sir. However, may I suggest we do it tomorrow because I want you to have a day to prepare for me? I might be young, but I'm a conditioned fighter from years of abuse by those who loved me. I might be a young boy to you by I have the heart of a man ready to do great things. What do you say to that?
His teacher took a step back and looked at him. It didn't take long for him to realize that the student was not kidding. He couldn't just attack a child the state had laws about that. However, if he could agree to train this child who has unlocked potential to be a superstar. So as class ends the teacher approached the young man with no one around and spoke to him bluntly.
Teacher: Kid, you have this presence about you that I've never seen. You mentioned being a fighter at a young age well I want to polish your ability and give you a guidance that no man has. I need you to meet me here every day after school and we will make it a point to chisel your fighting ability into a world class sports entertainer. The world will not realize what hit them until they are mesmerized by you. What do you say?
The young kid smirked and offered his hand.
Young Ragnarok: You got yourself a deal. I'll be here each day and as I grow stronger the world will soon realize just how powerful a child can be when he is destined to do this.
Present Day
Wells Fargo Arena, Philadelphia, PA, was the location of Monday Night Smash Last Chance. Ragnarok figured out a way to be on the card as he accepted the open challenge of Gideon King a man that he knew nothing about. However, being a veteran of this game, it was someone he would study and show respect too. It would all start at the Liberty Bell where Ragnarok was. This city was full of history and being a history buff himself the city was amazing and full of charm. The camera focused in on the former champion as he examined the bell.
Ragnarok: Mr. King, How ironic that we will meet for the first time in the city of brotherly love yet we will show anything but love toward each other. We will be beating the living hell out of one another wanting to show off for the boss man and prove that we deserve a push to the next level. When it comes to my desire in the ring, I want to be the guy who cracks the code. I will be the guy who looks into your eyes and makes you regret this open challenge.
He took a moment and closed his eyes as he traces the crack with his finger.
You see Mr. King something about me that you do not know is that I'm a trained killer. Not the kind of killer most think about oh no. I'm the type of killer that ruins careers and destroys momentum because I was trained by the biggest name in the industry as a child. Mr. Tamagotchi. He knew what I was about as a ten-year-old child. He didn't judge me for the shitty life I was dealt. He certainly didn't care about how my parents treated me instead he offered me an opportunity. The greatest opportunity one could ask for. Which was to be a sports entertainer and potential hall of fame resume. Just like the Liberty bell here he cracked open my potential and showed me what I was missing most in life. A role model. A leader. Someone who values me as a person and not a weapon. Most men would have a big ego being trained by the best but over the last year I realized that being humble is truly a blessing and better things happen when you are.
His eyes open with a smile.
For the first time in a long, while I see things in a way, I never thought I could. Struggling with being accepted as a child overflowed into my career here and made me an ugly individual. Yes, I won championships but at what cost of burning bridges. I'm sure you realize by now that my retirement tour has started and with that I did away with that ugly individual because it wasn't going to do anything anymore. Instead, I shifted my focus to a positive individual that has high expectations of himself. I'm known as Ragnarok to everyone in the back but right here and now I will reveal what on one knows. The biggest secret about me is my name. The fans and everyone on the roster want to know. So pay attention because I'm only saying it once Mr. King. Johnny Buttons was my birth name. It wasn't the best name as you can see which is why I kept lying about my identity because that name is weak. It reminded me of my past every time I thought about it. So my transformation into Ragnarok was by design. I had to create a persona that everyone including you Mr. King would fear.
Ragnarok removed his hand from the Liberty Bell and made his way closer to the water. As a child he found peace listening to the crashing of waves. Nothing seemed to bother him when he was here, and it was a place he did the best thinking. So as he approached the Delaware River his mind started to ease and the raw emotional thoughts started to pour out.
Ragnarok: Gideon King, the battle that will occur at the Wells Fargo Center is not going to be for the faint at heart. It will be a very hard pill for you to swallow when I dominate the match from beginning to end. It won't matter how much potential you feel inside I will break you to the point of tears. It will be something the world talks about until the next event but I want you to fully understand what WAR with Ragnarok is like. The open challenge was my ticket to Last Chance, but you see I have a deeper motive. It was a way for me to reestablish myself as a threat to the entire roster. It was a way for me to let everyone know that I'm not going to be left out in the cold when I've been in this company since the beginning. The fans deserve to see me in the ring where I shine daily. The entire WGWF universe deserves to see a man that has been hated, loved and appreciated for what he brings to this company. I'm never going to do things in a shady fashion anymore. Instead, my mission statement is to correct my mistakes and work my ass off to bring out the best in my opponents. Are you prepared to go to the next level with me Mr. King? It is not something people take lightly around here pushing buttons and limits can trigger some craziness. I enjoy that kind of crazy, though. Always have and never will get old.
He cracked his knuckles as the water crashed along the rocks.
Last Chance for me isn't about approval. It isn't about my legacy or even wanting a bigger opportunity. This is about having fun and knowing that each time I'm in the ring, I'm closer to my last match. The fact I chose your challenge is because I wanted you to have the opportunity that not everyone has had since being here. Believe it or not you fit the mold of what I like in competition. Not only do seem like a younger version of me but I need someone who will drive me to be a better version of myself. I've had marquee battles with the biggest names you can imagine. I've screwed over many people to get to this point. My reputation is no existence and even though the world doesn't know who you are I still have a chip on my shoulder. I'm the underdog in our match, and that's exactly where I want to be. What makes a star like myself more dangerous then disrespect to those in a profession that should know what this industry is all about.
He started to walk toward the arena as fans would honk at him. Some would give him the finger, but he took it all in stride. The attention was great and it made him feel loved in a sick twisted way.
With every shout I smile. With ever racial slut I smirk. My job is to get a reaction from the fans, and I do that every other Monday on Smash. I've done that in WGWF for over a year now. I want to see what the next chapter of my life will be after crushing your soul and making a statement out of you. It is never going to be about the beginning of your story but how we finish it and every minute that goes by my chapter is gaining momentum. It ends however I determine because no one can write the ending except for me. So remember when you step in the ring with me you will feel pain. You will bleed, and you have a Last Chance for survival.
He went silent as he continued walking toward the arena mentally preparing himself for whatever was about to happen.
OOC: Have had a rough two weeks so word count wasn't there but it was fun to write and just get away from reality for a bit. Thank you guys for the support.
