Officer: Mr. Santana? Please sir, you need to talk to us.
Cholo is sitting on the curve, hands on his head, looking at the wet spot where his tears keep dropping to, one at a time. He hears the officer, as if he was miles away, nothing but a distant echo. Just then he feels a woman’s touch, her hands, both caressing his and for a moment, he thinks of his mom, when he was a little Cholito… Every time he fell, every time there was something wrong, she was there to comfort him. One of the hands reaches for his chin and forces it, as gently as possible, to look up and his red teary eyes meet those of Abigail, who’s eyes are just as red as his, just as full of tears, but somehow, despite all of that, she looks amazingly beautiful. She smiles as best she can and then speaks in the softest of tones, one that gives him both peace and strength.
Abigail: Por favor corazon, we need you right now… Your children need you.
But they also hurt, like putting his heart to a meat grinder… “What children?” he thinks, they’re all gone, because “I wasn’t here to protect them.” He finds the strength to stand up, and as Abigail wipes away his tears and even gives him a small peck, which despite his efforts, he simply cannot feel, he turns to face the officer.
Cholo: Yes sir?
Officer: I know this is hard, but I need you to tell me what this spider logo means? It was left at the gate, inside an envelope that had your name on it…
Cholo takes a deep breath and swallows hard.
Cholo: The spider, symbol for El Spyder… The guy who is in jail right now for the murder of Abigail’s father.
Officer: I see, so by leaving this he’s pretty much telling you this has his doing.
Cholo: Obviously.
Officer: and just to confirm, “El Sypder” killed the man that kill your parents, her father, correct?
The officer doesn’t point, just looks with his eyes but it is enough to make Abigail feel super uncomfortable.
Cholo: Yes, but I don’t see how-
Before Cholo can continue, a kid’s scream is heard, just one, perhaps, though is hard to tell with all the noise and commotion around the burning building. Cholo, without hesitation runs towards it, and firefighters among others try to stop him.
Firefighter: Wait, no sir! It’s not safe to go in yet! The fire is still too strong!
But Cholo jumps over the barricade and rushes past the firefighters still trying to fight the flames and finds an opening. Abigail, Paula and others yell after him to stop, but he has already gone in. Inside, everything is in flames… Cholo covers his mouth and nose with his shirt as he tries to find where the scream came from. He looks for the stairs and rushes over there, and before he can head to the second floor, he freezes as he sees there a young kid standing, wearing a pink onesie, covered in ashes. She holds up her arms, for Cholo to come and grab her but as he goes for her, large wooden burning beams fall from the ceiling, blocking his way…
Cholo: NOOOOOO!!
He looks up, he sees one coming right at him. All we see is Cholo’s eye as it’s engulfed in flames.
And then it reverses, the fire coming out of Cholo’s eyes and as he comes back screaming, he is no longer in the burning building but in the gondola with Abigail.
Abigail: CHOLO! What is it?!
He stands up on the gondola causing it to rock and the gondolier to argue. Cholo’s touching himself all over, still feeling hot from the fire, but there is clearly nothing on him.
Cholo: I don’t understand?!
Just then he hears the popping sound he heard earlier and turns and sees the same kids by the large bond fire as they throw stuff in it.
Cholo: That already happen, I don’t-Wait, or it hasn’t happened yet?
Abigail: What hasn’t happened yet?
Cholo: Abig, what were we about to do?
Abigail: Um, well, I think were about to have our first kiss but-
Cholo: Oh good, it hasn’t happened yet!
Abigail: EXCUSE ME?!
Cholo: Oh! No, sorry, I can’t explain right now… I just got to do something, sir I need you to row as fast as you can please!
The guy tells him he’s going as fast as he can but that’s not good enough for Cholo and he quickly walks up to him and wrestles the oar from him, causing the man to lose his balance and fall on the water.
Abigail: CHOLO! What has gotten into you?! That poor man!
Cholo: Throw him a life-saver, he’ll be fine. We must move!
Abigail throws a life vest, apologizing in the process. Cholo is rowing like a mad man, trying to get to the dock as soon as possible and eventually the parking lot where his car is. As soon as they arrive, he quickly gets off and helps Abigail and then he hears children screaming. They both look up, and sure enough there is the school bus.
Cholo: There is no time, quick, give me your phone!
She gives it to him and he quickly dials a number. After a few seconds someone picks up.
Cholo: PAULA! Listen to me, no time to explain, get all the children out of the Irvin Shelter as soon as possible! There is a threat, get the cops, fire department, everyone over there! I’ll explain later! Have them check the premises for El Spyder’s men! Okay thanks! Come on Abi!
Cholo grabs Abigail and they rush towards his car, getting in, but this time, a spider doesn’t bite him. He hopes that’s a good sign as he peels away from the parking lot. We fade out and in just like before, with the SUV arriving at the shelter… There are cops and firetrucks just like before, but this time, no fire. Cholo rushes over and just like before he gets stopped by the officers. But Paula is there.
Paula: Cholo! Where have you been?! Been calling you!
Cholo: My phone was off, sorry, how are the children?!
Paula: They’re all fine… How did you know about the bomb?
Cholo: I had a premonition…
Abigail: What? Like in those Final Destination movies?
Cholo: Exactly!
Paula: Yeah, but if that’s true, that means death just got skipped here…
Abigail: Which means…
Just then Paula’s phone starts ringing… Then Cholo’s… Then Abigail’s… Even the officers’ and firefighters’ nearby… The scene fades to black with the sounds of hundreds of phones ringing…
El Cannabis Cup Shoot
Before Cholo starts, he just want to say this to everyone in the Cup, he respects all of you, even Ragnarök despite what he did. Cholo may say some things below, but it’s all just business, you understand? When this is all over, he would love to party with ya’ll, share a drink, and if we don’t get to face off this time, he would very much love to face you down the line because all of you are amazing in your own way. Salud amigos, mi respeto.
So let’s get to it!
Is it Cholo’s time to shine? Well, in case you haven’t been watching, all Cholo has been doing is shining! But is it Cholo’s “moment” to make the leap from the Intercontinental title to the World Heavyweight title? In three words…
YES IT IS!
Cholo has been IC champion for exactly 218 days, the longest reign of any title in the current era of WGWF… In that time we have 4 Television champions… 4 Tag Team Champions and 3 Heavyweight Champions… Now in some cases, a person or one team won it twice, but it doesn’t matter, the title changed hands and that is what Cholo is pointing out… The only time MY PRECIOUS changed hands was when the ref handed it to Cholo. Since then, it has never left his hands and Cholo has faced all kinds of challengers for it… He’s not one to name drop, but if there ever was a time to take a little pride into everyone Cholo has beaten, if only to make a point, it is now. Mike Angelo, Paul Montouri and Buster Gloves all tried to be the one to raise this championship before Cholo did, and they failed. Mike Mason, Max Daemon, Johnny Bacchus, CJ O’Donnell and Ragnarök all tried to take this from me and failed...
So now Cholo becomes the hunter, and he will have to get through three individuals this weekend to be the one to raise the cup… and you want Cholo to tell you why he deserves to win over all of them? How about Cholo begins instead, by telling you why they do not deserve to win it.
Johnathan Cable, you are a beast my friend, no one can deny that and while there are many who try to be like you, myself included, as Cholo can be a ‘bestia’ sometimes, you truly are the one beast of WGWF. You are one of the few that have been here since day one putting in the work, going to battle with the likes of Fred Debonair, Chris Chaos, Robert Main and even our boss, Chris Page... Not many can say that they have faced the beast and survived… Actually, they can… Here in WGWF alone, many have tamed the beast and regardless of the reason, you have not won enough to be in any title picture… Why is that? Cholo will tell you: because you haven’t found your moment yet… You’re too busy with, Cholo doesn’t even know, but your focus is not on winning… and not in championships… Perhaps in just hurting people, who knows, but Cholo truly believes you will, one day, get your moment to shine, this Cup is not it though… Cholo knows that if we end up facing each other, you will hurt Cholo like no other, but you will not defeat him.”
Devlin Knight, welcome back, or is it, welcome for the first time? Are you still “The Kingdom” or are you someone, or something else? Cholo doesn’t buy this whole “Devlin Knight” act you are putting, there is a hidden agenda with you and whatever it is, it will not end well for anyone around you… It didn’t end well for our mutual friend, Xavier Lux, as you turned on him just as quickly as you helped him in the battle royal, didn’t you? Well, Cholo is sorry to tell you that you won’t have any help in these matches… You stand alone and it is here where Cholo believes your true colors will show. One thing is for sure, you are still the same gifted athlete that Fred was, and while our paths never crossed before, Cholo has a feeling that they finally will, and likely, in the finals of the cup. Cholo knows you think you came back at the perfect time, to skip the line and skyrocket to the top. But you timed your return wrong Devlin, that rabbit fooled you and it’s a little too early… But you are welcome to watch Cholo lift the trophy though.
Samuel Chatman, Cholo is going to make a liar out of you… How can you call yourself “The Lone Wolf” when you are never alone? You are hanging out with the former tag champions all the time… Weren’t you just tagging with Grado, who may or may not be your stalker? You claim that your motivation to compete is going for gold, title belts and winning them… How come Cholo has yet to see you in a title match in WGWF? You claim to be the best, but you couldn’t win Full Metal Mayhem on Melee. You claim to be a ladies’ man but Cholo doesn’t see any around you. Look Sam, Cholo has nothing against you… He doesn’t know you, but when he sees someone claiming to be one thing, but show to be another, than Cholo has to call caca… and it is for these reasons, that Cholo knows you don’t deserve to win the cup. Do you deserve to get past Ragnarök? Perhaps, maybe, even whoever is placed in front of you after, but Cholo is telling you now that if it’s Cholo, you are not advancing. Nothing personal, but everything you claim to be, Cholo is.
Spencer Adams, “the Badmon…” The man who is after all the accolades, who wants all the attention, all the glory, but will not commit to a single promotion and claims that he is only in business for himself… You know that in our business, it doesn’t end well for anyone who is only looking out for himself. Oh, Cholo knows, you say you only work for yourself… Don’t want to work for “the man” right? Cholo guesses you have been done wrong before, and trust has become an issue… Well how do you expect our boss to trust you with his cup? You know how much he loves that sticky-icky… How do you expect him to trust you in the main event against whomever the World Champion is after this? At some point, we all have to trust on someone or something, believe in someone or something other than ourselves… Cholo knows that in your mind you’re already great, and you have the two world championships to prove it… But as you have come to learn quick in WGWF, greatness comes with a price. You have yet to pay it, so this cup will not have your name on it.
Dubois, Let me first welcome you to WGWF, Cholo knows you have been here just under two months now but he hasn’t had a chance to properly introduce himself… He has however, kept a close eye on you from your debut match on Dark, when you took on Newton and Atara. Cholo knew he was looking at someone special, someone the likes WGWF has never seen before. He has seen you take on heavy hitters, and put up some great efforts, including your biggest match to date, the Full Metal Mayhem match. Cholo knows you weren’t the one pinned and you had it in the closing moments, but Stylez stole it. Cholo has been there, so close only for someone else to take it. Cholo knows he’s supposed to be talking about why you don’t deserve to win the cup and honestly, all can Cholo say is… Too soon. You’re still young, just making the leap to the big time that is WGWF, and just like that FMM win was just out of your reach… So will this year’s cup be but keep on keeping on amigo. You will become everything you want to be, Iconic and a lot more.
What about Ragnarök or Mac Bane ? Well, Cholo recently faced Ragnarök, so he has spent more than enough time on him than he deserves. If he wasn’t worthy enough to win the Intercontinental title, then he is not worthy to lift the cup.
As for Bane, Cholo covered him at length, but Cholo will say this, something he forgot to mention yesterday… and that is, that at the West Coast Rumble, Bane and Cholo went toe to toe a few times… and when it mattered most, when it was the “moment” of truth, it was Cholo who eliminated Mac Bane. Cholo knows Mac is a professional, and he will not let this bother him or get inside his head… Facing someone one-on-one is a completely different level of competition, but make no mistake about it, on Sunday, Cholo will be looking to eliminate Mac once again.
So, by saying all of this, is Cholo saying that by process of elimination he should be the defacto winner? No, he is saying that he’s the only one that truly, deserves to win the cup if we’re talking about ‘deserving’.
But the truth of the matter is that in wrestling, specially here in WGWF, is not about who deserves it, but who has worked the hardest for it. Who has bled the most, who has sweat the most, who has cried the most for every win they have earned, and even more for every failure… For every opportunity that they've gotten and for this sport period… Who has gone out there and performed to the highest of levels for the fans of this promotion when healthy but even more when hurt, when not 100%. Because Cholo knows that some of these guys love the fans… and some of them hate'em while others simply could give a damn about how they feel… But there isn’t one single fan out there that hasn’t supported Cholo from day one… There isn’t a single man, woman or child that has not wanted Cholo to succeed and do great… You only have to go as far back as War Games to notice just how badly the fans wanted Cholo to be the one… He had the win in his hands… He had Dolly Waters trapped in El Matador and then Cholo was robbed by Jim Caedus… But Cholo brings that up not to focus on the loss, but on how ready the fans were then for Cholo to be the one… Focus on that moment, remember that moment… That is what we are talking about today… Is it Cholo’s moment? Everyone was on their feet then, everyone was ready for it… Do you know what has changed since then? Absolutely nothing… Si mi gente is behind me, always, and si, Cholo deserves it, but on top of that and more importantly than that…
So let’s get to it!
Is it Cholo’s time to shine? Well, in case you haven’t been watching, all Cholo has been doing is shining! But is it Cholo’s “moment” to make the leap from the Intercontinental title to the World Heavyweight title? In three words…
