Gimmick: Devlin Knight is the true form of Fred Debonair, several years in the making. He is a charismatic, intelligent, well loved individual who had a God complex but has since been through an ego death making him the man he is today.
Biography: Fred Debonair was adopted at an extremely young age and was raised by a mob boss in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. He trained for many years at a couple of Wrestling schools and once he turned sixteen and wanting to get out of that life, he left with his late brother Pacey and signed up with the Revolution Wrestling Federation (RWF) in 1998, under the ring name “Fly Freddy” a dare between the two.
Fred Wrestled in the RWF for close to a decade, under different names and guises, winning numerous titles and accolades before the promotion shut its doors… Soon after he was contracted by Fearless Championship Wrestling (FcW) in 2008 where he plied his trade for a further three years and won several other belts before it too, closed down.
Fred semi-retired and opened up his own Indie Promotion and Academy in the heart of New York City until 2021 when he signed up with Intense International Wrestling (IIW), a promotion based in Manchester, England, in order to save his son Tyler’s ass. Whilst there he won the IIW UK Title as well as the JIWC Championship whilst wrestling in Japan. He also met Chris Page, signed up with CCPE and took Page on as his agent and signed a contract with the WGWF…
In his last few months Fred found his biological twin brother and all the information on his true name and place of birth which he took on. At that time though he also disappeared and nobody knew where to until on the year anniversary episode of WGWF Brawl (September 25th, 2023) he reappeared with a clean slate and a story to tell…
Entrance: The strum of a solo guitar begins to play as Coheed and Cambria’s “Welcome home” slams into the speakers. The crowd are on their feet as Devlin Knight steps out onto the ramp and looks around in awe.
A grin spreads across his face as he makes his way down the aisle slapping hands with and fist bumping some of the fans, ruffling the hair of some of the younger ones before reaching the ring.
Devlin climbs the steel steps, wiping his feet on the apron before climbing in between ropes as the song is slowly coming to an end and the crowd are singing the “woooaah ooohh oooh” part at the end, as Devlin hops up onto the turnbuckle and raises his arms, hopping down and waiting for the bell.
