The Ides of March are upon us once again.
This date marks the day that Julius Caesar was assassinated bringing about a great civil war amongst the Roman Empire and bringing it down. This is what war does, war wraps itself around the deeds of the society and breaks it apart. Progress is replaced by the horrors and bloodshed, the bright future is plunged into darkness. War is avoidable if you follow the signs.
Remember also that Caesar was warned about the ‘Ides of March’ by the seer long before his death.
I have screamed from every possible window about the approaching ‘Ides of March’ for us all. I have foreseen the signs, from the moment my eyes gazed upon the Kraken of the deep I knew that it was only a matter of time before we will once again plunge into darkness. The Kraken is waiting to wrap itself around society once again and pull us down beneath the surface into the midnight of the ocean. It waits just under the surface, unimaginable suffering and destruction. The warnings are there, I have been trying to reach out as much as possible to save society from the tentacles that have come up from the depths.
I do not wish to see all that has been accomplished in science, technology and society wiped away and pulled into the deep by the Lord of the Undertow.
However,
I have seen what this society has done to people like me… I am sure they have done it to you too. We are merely people who want to help. They laugh at us, they deny us and they shun us. I have lost my family, my home, and my career in an attempt to save this society from its approaching doom. This society is prideful to the point it does not listen to doubt. Julius Caesar had his pride too, and twenty three stab wounds brought about the end of him and brought about Rome’s civil war. Will this society end up the same as Caesar? Who is to say? Fire is unpredictable at best. But let us not forget that sometimes fire is necessary to remove an old forest so that the next can grow. Rome did not end with Caesar’s death, no instead after the civil war it prospered in strength for the next five hundred years. The civil war was only a clearing fire that allowed a new forest to grow even stronger in its place.
Therefore,
I propose a solution to the problem, I propose we will no longer scream about the approaching end. That we will no longer warn about what is just beneath the surface… we will only stand by the side and watch as the tentacles of the Kraken slowly creep across the land when it wraps itself around all of society and pulls it apart. The Kraken is real, he watches, lurking beneath the sea. The Great Old One has awakened.
We are the Undertow Society.
Join us, do nothing and watch the world crumble as it is pulled into the depths.

Back to the present day.
“And with all of my remaining strength, I lifted all two hundred seventy some pounds of that man up and off the mat on the floor, rolled him into the ring and pinned him right there in the middle of the world famous Madison Square Garden! How’s that for a debut?”
Static.
Then the picture holds.
That is the face of the KRAKEN Kazmerick with an ear to ear smile on his face showing off all of his pearly whites for the world to see. Well, maybe not the world in this case but rather the few strangers who are seemingly stuck in the elevator with him. Kaz doesn’t seem to be engaged in a deep conversation with these others, rather he’s just shouting to the heavens.
“I’d say that’s a ten on the old scale. What scale? I don’t know, but ten is the best on whatever scale we’re using. And after I pinned Ragnarok, I felt the energy drain from his body and welcomed him to the depths. A nice sacrifice to the Lord of the Deep, no?”
There’s an awkward silence as Kaz finishes between everyone in the elevator. It’s so awkward that even Kaz notices it and is forced to break the silence.
“Hey, have any of you ever seen that movie where they’re trapped in an elevator with the devil? And the whole point of the movie is that the devil is going to kill each and everyone last person on the elevator. That was a good one, well maybe except for the part where the elevator drops suddenly.”
And with that Kaz leaps up into the air and yells loudly scaring the hell out of the others on the elevator. The elevator dings and the doors open up allowing the people to get off, Kaz remains laughing hysterically at his well timed joke. A couple of other people look to get on the elevator, but see a man wearing sunglasses and laughing to the point that spit is falling from either side of his mouth and decide to take the next one. This was probably a wise move on their part, but just before the door closes Kaz leaps forward slamming his hands into either side of the doors.
“That’s okay, because this elevator is only going down.”
He laughs some more as the doors shut.
Finally he is alone on the elevator. Just as he had planned, probably.
Slowly the smile fades, his white teeth disappear behind his lips and he ducks his head. From pure mania to simply calm in a matter of seconds. There are still some nervous ticks and strange twitches as he presses his face close up the camera.
“Just a show of hands to all the people out there who actually thought that I was going to defeat Ragnarok in my debut match. Go ahead, raise them up there and hold them high if you thought that a last minute replacement with a funny name had any chance against the supposed son of Odin. Now, I guarantee that there ain’t a single person out there watching right now that has their hand raised in the air.
Am I right?
That doubt you all have? That’s what fuels me, that’s what charges me up and gets me into the ring night in and night out traveling from god-forsaken town to god-forsaken town. And when I step into a place like Madison Square Garden on the biggest night of the year and all I can feel is the doubt raining down from the crowd… well, just ask Ragnarok. Just ask a former two time champion here in WGWF himself what it was like to face the Kraken.
So, I ask you all… who out there thinks that I can beat the other half of the former tag team champions? Raise your hands.”
The camera pulls back and Kaz has his hand raised in the air.
“Am I the only one again?”
A smile spreads across his face.
“I certainly hope so. Your dismissal, your denial is all I need is your doubt and I will once again march myself down to that ring once again. For I have been laughed at, denied and shunned my entire life, yes I have! And you will soon learn that the more you do that, the more you will end up marching your favorites into certain death against me!”
Big deep breaths as the mania slowly leaves his body once again. Luckily, there do not seem to be any stops during this part of the elevator ride giving Kaz plenty of time to rant and rave. He composes himself as the smile fades.
“I will drag the so-called Untamed Demon down into the blackened waters along with his tag team partner into the endless Abyss. And what beautiful sights he will see on his way down deep right before the last of his breath leaves his body, just like Ragnarok.
A two for one special should appease the Lord of Deep.
But there’s something more I’d like to do here… I’m feeling like a little more is in order.
Instead of just toying with him, I’d like to break this Untamed Demon down before his last gasps of oxygen. I’d like to use my tentacles and rip him apart limb from limb just as the great lurker beneath the surface would want. And in doing so, send a message to any and all former champions around these parts about what it means to face against me in the ring.
Yeaaahh.”
That’s a long ‘yeah’, as he begins to think to himself a little bit more. Thoughts seem to be firing across his brain stem as he twitches a bit more than before, a couple snaps of the fingers brings him back.
“Let’s send a message. Not just to the roster of WGWF, but to the entire world. It’s time to introduce everyone to the Undertow Society and what we stand for. Destruction, carnage and all the beautiful words that mean the same thing. Once we simply stood on the sidelines waiting for the Kraken to pull the world apart, but now the Kraken is here and I am the one who will pull everything from the surface world down to the depths below.
Come and see.
This Untamed Demon, I am going to tame him before your very eyes. Through force and violence I will bend him and ultimately before his final breath is drawn I will shatter every last fiber of his being down to his core. For let it be written, from this point moving forward this Demon will know what it means to face the thing that should not be…”
A smirk grows across his face once again.
“But fear not Demon, that is not the end for you… very much like a wildfire that clears an old forest leaving nothing but ash, eventually a new forest will grow. One day you will return stronger than ever, and when you realize the favor I have done for you… you will be welcomed into the Undertow Society.”
Once again the mania begins to grow in both the movements and twitches of Kaz, but just as he’s about to reach his apex and begin jumping about the button dings letting us know that the elevator has finally reached its destination. The doors slide open and Kazmerick stands there looking out over the lobby, there are a number of people looking back at him waiting to get onto the elevator.
“This elevator only goes down.”
There are a number of confused people, since this is the lowest floor that this elevator will ever go to. The group of people stand there as Kazmerick doesn’t move, slowly his eyes move towards the panel in the front of the car. It takes him a moment to realize this.
“Oh no, this is the bottom floor. I guess this my stop then.”
Kaz gets out of the elevator as a group of people get on, all trying to avoid getting too close to him in the process. He looks around the hotel lobby that he’s now standing in and spins around a bit dropping his sunglasses down to the end of his nose to get a better look. Yeah, he’s been wearing sunglasses this whole time.
“I don’t even think this is the right hotel.”
He pushes his sunglasses back up to the bridge of nose and begins to look for an exit. We picture loses its hold.
