William Shatner does a voice over as he explains what Ace is doing as it is shown:
Ace Sky is backstage doing his usual preshow traditions. He has his Adidas bag, He greets the backstage staff one by one, warmly and talks with them for a few moments. He enters the locker room, he puts his bag on the bench seat and unzips it revealing his tights, he takes them in the small bathroom with him.
( It says Sky instead of Sydal)
He comes out later with his sprayed-on tan, which accentuates his six pack well, he wraps his the white tape on his right foot that is disfigured from the motorcycle accident close to a 12 years ago and winces a bit, he puts on his trademark kickpads and boots and wraps his wrists with wrist tape .
He next takes out his Tapas- the yoga mat and does some yoga for 30 minutes. He grabs two 40-pound dumbells from a shelf that are complimentary for anyone's use and heads outside , he has two of the backstage crew guys he was talking early to assist him as they push two equipment boxes apart from each other, so Ace can go in the middle, he rests a leg on each in a split as he curls the weights.
Shatner: Ace is a very disciplined, regimented athlete, his free spirit modern hipster personality mixed with his Texan southern civility causes his
hard-nosed "warrior " mindset to confuse others. Ace has a series of preshow traditions, some of which seem normal while others are a bit weirder.
Ace is next seen bumping his back hard and fast against the walls
Ace assures everyone it is not as harsh as they think despite the noise , he stops and explains.
Ace Sky:
It's for bumping in the ring, I have two opponents who are very skilled and passionate about this.
The one who really pisses me off is Sonya Benson, I understand the grief of what happened to her brother, and I can empathize with that,
I love this business, it is very tough not to romanticize it, some may think she's the easiest opponent, she's the toughest for a bad reason,
given her lack of ability and carelessness she is the most dangerous, it is life or death in that ring, let me be clear I am not personally threatening her, I am professional this is a competition purely, I have to stress it though:
it's life or death in the ring, it just is and if she does not put in the effort as much as myself, Giavonni and Emily do, it could end fatally for her.
All I can do is what I have done for the past 24 years, fight against stereotypes, and cliches, open minds, open hearts and open third eyes.
