Zara was at her (well hers and Marcus’s) hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, getting her duffle repacked before she had to head out to the Allstate Arena. She had already gotten herself ready to go and was waiting on her boyfriend, so she had debated trying to call her cousin to check on her. Now normally Marley would be at shows with her since she was her manager, but the Filipino woman had told her cousin that she didn’t have to come to the XIX or WGWF show…not with going through not knowing where her own other half had gone. The young woman knew that her cousin was going to be getting on a Kayfabe Airlines flight to head back to Hayesville from Canberra, not that Zara really blamed her for not wanting to be around people at the time, but she didn’t know when the flight was. It was around hitting mid-morning/early afternoon Sunday in Australia, but with how reserved she had been the last few days, Zara was surprised when her phone started playing the Halloween movie score, showing Marley’s picture calling her. The green-haired woman walked over to the window in her room as she answered the phone.
“Hey, Mar…I was just thinking about calling you to check on you.”
“They’ve had him this whole time, Zar…I’ve been acting like a fucking depressed, goth bitch, and he’s been in trouble this entire time!”
Zara’s eyebrows furrowed together at hearing how upset her cousin was. She let out a sigh and ran a hand through her straightened hair, glancing out at the cityscape below her for a moment.
“Calm down, honey. What do you mean they’ve had him the whole time? I’m not there, so you’ve got to tell me what happened. And you weren’t being a bitch, you just let yourself get in your own head again. It’s still going to happen from time to time no matter how much progress you’ve made with everything.”
“Dolores and Gabriel have had Samuel this entire time! Talbot came to see me today after he heard about Samuel leaving. While he was there, I got a video call from Samuel’s phone…he was tied to a chair, Zar, with Ohio standing next to him…then Dolores joined him.”
Zara’s grip on her phone tightened considerably as she listened to her cousin go on about how it wasn’t hard to tell that they had beaten Samuel considering she had seen his busted nose and lip…plus both of his eyes blackened. Mentally, the green-haired woman was cursing herself for not insisting that her cousin come with them to the XIX show, especially after hearing how pain was in the other woman’s voice. The more Marley told Zara about what had happened, the more Zara felt her own heart for her family, even more so when Marley told her what Dolores had said about having a plan that Samuel had ended up making easier for her.
“Marley, there was no way you could have known his situation. And you wouldn’t have been able to help him…not when it comes to dealing with those two. The only reason that didn’t happen to you a few days ago was because of Zinna and the ShieldMaidens backing you up.”
“She made me choose, Zara…stop trying to get Sylvia back or never see Samuel again.”
Zara was stunned at her cousin’s words. Now that was not something that she was expecting by a long shot. She couldn’t imagine what had been going through her cousin’s mind when those words had been said to her, and quite frankly, she was not sure she wanted to know either. Letting out another sigh, she wrapped her free arm around her own waist as she looked out at the sky.
“You don’t even have to tell me that you chose him…I know that wasn’t easy for you to do, Mar.”
“I promised him we’d get her back somehow, Zara…”
The green-haired woman sighed as she moved away from the window, moving to sit down on the edge of the bed instead. She could tell by her cousin’s voice that there was more to it all, but she wasn’t going to push for the information. After all, if she was meant to know then she was sure she would eventually, but if she wasn’t meant to know then she wasn’t going to try and force anything from the other woman.
“I’m on a flight soon. Like the next few minutes type of soon to get back to Hayesville.”
“Let me know when you get home, Mar…and that he’s alright, considering everything that’s happened. If I don’t answer, I will as soon as I can. Love you.”
Zara rubbed her eyes after closing them as the call ended, putting her phone down on the bed next to her. She felt the spot next to her get weighed down and found herself smiling a little when she opened her eyes and saw Marcus sitting next to her.
“Everything alright?”
“Not really, but it will be over time. I’ll fill you in on the way to the arena.”
Zara watched as Marcus gave her a nod before he pushed himself up off of the bed. Everything her cousin told her played through her head as she got off of the bed herself, shouldering her duffle bag before ultimately sliding her phone into the back pocket of the jeans she was wearing.

The scene opened on an empty area of one of the hallways in the CCPE Arena. There was no one in view of the camera that was seemingly set up, but a voice came from just off to the side.
”Imagine my surprise when I saw that I was part of the tournament for the TV Championship. Being the new girl to WGWF, I didn’t think my debut would be part of something as big as this, but here I am.”
Zara Ivory walked into view, her hair thrown up into a ponytail and her ring gear already on. There was a smile on the young woman’s face as she crossed her arms over her chest.
”I made my professional debut about a year ago after spending years on the independent scene. The last thing I expected was to find the success that I’ve found over the last few months…getting to really fulfill my dream of being someone in this business so early into going pro. But what I’ve accomplished elsewhere doesn’t follow me here.”
Zara paused for a moment, brushing a few loose strands of hair out of her face. She licked her lips a little before she paced around in the area a little.
”Any time I’ve started somewhere new, there’s always been butterflies…tonight is no different. Cholo, I guess that brings me to you since we’re set to go one-on-one. I’ll make an admission…I haven’t properly scouted anyone here. I suppose that just adds to the excitement for it in the long run of it all, though.”
The Filipino woman looked directly into the camera, having ceased the brief bit of pacing that she had been doing. Taking in a deep breath and then releasing it as a sigh, Zara placed her hands on her lower back, seemingly in deep thought.
”You’ll have to forgive me…normally, my cousin would be here with me as my manager, but she’s handling an emergency. However…that just puts things in a bit more perspective for me concerning tonight. Tonight, I have another first chance to show what I’m capable of doing. I’ve been given the chance to show that I am championship material no matter where I go, and I plan to do just that this evening.
Cholo, I’m looking forward to our match, please don’t get me wrong on that. But one’s debut is about making a statement. It’s about showing what you’re really capable of to those that may not know who you are. That’s my goal for the evening…to show everyone in WGWF, that may not know anything bout me, just what I can do in a ring. I am to prove that I deserve to be here, to be a part of this company’s roster.”
The green-haired woman gave a little shrug toward the camera. She really didn’t have anything against anyone within WGWF considering she hadn’t really conversed with any of them before. Of course, she would aim to change that considering she worked there now, but it was what it was for the time being.
”They say you’re only as good as the product and attitude you put out into the world. Well…I don’t plan on putting out a half-assed product tonight, so maybe I’ll surprise some of you by being better than you anticipated. Who knows, maybe I’ll even surprise myself with the match we put on, Cholo. What I do know, however, is that I’m going to come into that ring with every intention of winning. Though I suppose everyone goes into a match with that plan of action, don’t they? Everyone always plans on giving their best, to show that they’re more than capable of whatever others may see them as able to handle.
But I’m not like everyone else. The Train Wreck nickname wasn’t passed down to me because I’m like everyone else. And tonight, I’m going to show you, Cholo, as well as all of the others why that’s the case. I’ll see you in the ring.”
I know I missed DL, and I'm going to be sending a couple of messages. But I wanted to post this anyways.
